Yay, I finally get to start a journal here! lol
Well, we had originally planned on waiting at least a year after the wedding to start trying. But, right after the wedding I got baby fever like crazy. We decided that we were going to let whatever happens happen, but after a month that just wasn't cutting it for me. The second month of trying I started charting my BBT. The month we concieved I tried taking baby asprin daily. I'm not sure what exactly worked... I ended up ovulating 2 days early and just by luck we had baby danced on that day. I also had a very bad UTI a few days before. So yeah, I'm very surpised we did it!
I found out we were expecting at 10 DPO on Aug. 15th! I suprised my husband that night, we went out miniature golfing and afterwords sat down to eat some ice cream. I had bought a little onesie that said "Born to be a Cardinals fan" with "I poop on Cubs" on the back (sorry Cubs fans! lol). I wrapped it and gave it to him over ice cream. He said he loved it and kind of went silent for a moment and then asked "Does this mean we are having a baby?". I said "Well, I said I was saving it for a special occasion" (he knew I had bought something he couldn't see). He then said "OMG, does this mean we are having a baby?!". I shook my head yes, he grabbed me, kissed me and was so happy he cried! It was adorable, lol. And of course, he then had to call everyone to tell them he was going to be a daddy.
My first appt. is on Oct. 6th. The wait has been killing me! But I had to wait until after the 1st for my insurance to kick in. I do get an ultrasound that day, so I'm SUPER excitied! It will be a relief to know that everything is going well in there. I have had morning sickness for the past couple of weeks, but it seems to be dying down (or so I hope). I also have a cute little bump now, though the bloat after eating makes me look more like 4-5 months along, lol.
As of right now my EDD is April 27th, but I'm sure that will change. We have decided to not find out the sex of the baby (unless it's twins and oh god... I hope it's not twins! lol). We already have our boy name picked out and the girl name is down to two first names, with a middle name picked. Everyone seems to think I'm going to have a girl and I'm hoping they are right! Though the thought of having a boy is really starting to grow on me.
I think that's about it for now! :)

Okay, so I'm getting soooo anxious for my appt. (now just over a week away!). I feel like I'm bigger than I should be and actually had someone ask me at work how far along I was... when I said only 9 1/2 weeks she asked if it was twins. Ughhh... I need peace of mind! lol
Oh! And I forgot to mention to everyone that my step-sister is pregnant and due around the same day as me. I can't say I'm too happy for her, she is only 18 years old, doesn't have a job and still lives with my dad and step-mom. But, it's still pretty cool. Her first ultrasound is on the 14th, so I'm kind of excitied to be able to compare with her, lol.

Be careful eatting at Subway, they say your not supposed to eat lunch meat during pregnancy, as it can carry a bacteria called Listeria, which can cause miscarriage.

Yeah, I discussed that with my doctor, but it's so rare he said not to worry, especially since I cannot eat pork or beef... I'm pretty limited to what meat I can consume. Plus places like that I guess cook their meat before they serve it, so the risk is even lower. I still stay away from actual meat from the deli, since there is no pre-cooking there. :)

The ultrasound was great! Baby was super active and doing summersaults in there, lol. It was adorable. We didn't get to hear the hearbeat, but did get to see it. It was 167 BPM. She said everything looks great! My due was changed to April 25th, which I think is pretty awesome, lol.

Ugh, yesterday was horrible. I've struggled with headaches all throughout my teenage years and they have come back with a vengence since I got pregnant. Yesterday I ended up with a full blown migrane (and probably the worst I've ever had). I was in so much pain and so sick... it was the first time I've thrown up this whole pregnancy and it was awful. Tylenol didn't do a darn thing, so I ended up having to take a Benedryl to knock me out so I slept the rest of afternoon/night. Thankfully, I'm feeling better today.
We are going shopping this weekend, which means a wonderful 2 hour drive to the nearest town, and we decided to go ahead and set up our baby registries. It's pretty rare that we ever get a Sat. off together and this will be the last one for a long time... plus we don't go up there very often... so we figured we might as well get it out of the way. Everything is going to be gender neutral anyway, so it works. I'm pretty excitied!

I'm going to have to talk to my doctor my next appt. and see if there is anything other than tylenol that I can take. I still have a headache, but nothing near as bad as Monday. But uggghh... I just wish they would stop. I think it may actually be caused by my wisdom teeth, but if that's the case I can't have anything done about it right now. =/
Qtpie
10-15-2009, 06:06 AM
I hope your headaches go away soon, I know there was one point in end of first tri or may beginning of second that I had a horrible headache for about three days straight. Tylenol didnt even touch it. The only thing that made it feel better was an ice pack on my forehead and the dark room. I called the doctor and he told me to go to the ER, which I didnt do. Only cause I figured what can they do for me, anyways, the headaches may be hormonal due to the pregnancy, I know the old wives tale says if your having headaches your carrying a BOY.

So, I just applied for a secretary position. I already work for the public schools, just as a custodian, so I'm really hoping that it will benefit me and I won't have any problem getting an interview! It would be awesome if I could get it... right now I'm working 2:30pm-11pm and rarely see my husband. This job is 7am-4pm, which is just sooo much better.
Plus, I also wouldn't have to be doing all of them lifting/bending/stretching/all kinds of physical work I'm doing now. My back is already hurting me and I know it will only get worse. Sooo... keep your fingers crossed!

We had sooo much fun registering last weekend. I didn't know there was sooooo much baby stuff that people need (or in some cases... just want, lol). I can't wait until we start getting stuff and getting the nursery ready! I'm actually thinking about painting our new spare bedroom this weekend, since our current spare room will be the baby's (using the safest paint possibe and a mask, of course!). My hubby is working all weekend so I'm going to be alone and bored.
Still haven't heard anything about the job, but the schools have been kind of panicking with so many kids out with the flu. I'm just hoping and praying I don't catch it. I have been carrying a bottle of germ-x around with me and using it like crazy.
Next appt. is Nov. 3rd... nothing too exciting going on though.

just remember the antibac. lotions like purell n all them are great but soap and water and a good handwashing is actually BETTER b/c it leaves the good bacteria that you need behind whereas germ-ex just kills it all...
working in a psych hospital my method tends to be frequent handwashing, especially if i touch someone... unless there's no sink around then it's a squirt of the ollll purell (we have dispensers on the wall like every few feet almost LOL)

I wish I had more access to bathrooms, but I really don't. :( They seriously need to put sinks in the middle of the halls for people to use, lol. The only bathrooms I can get to I either have to walk halfway across the school, or go and unlock the others, which kind of defeats the purpose if I have to touch the doors regardless. I'm just doing what I can anyway.

FutureKelley
10-26-2009, 12:45 PM
Thanks everyone!
Nope, no showers planned yet. I kind of want to plan on my own, but I may have to wait and see if someone comes forward wanting to do it for me. I feel kind of bad because everyone invited would have been invited to my bridal shower (which, if we have it in march it will be exactly one year!) this year and already spent a bunch of money on us. I feel bad asking for more gifts! :bbconfused:
In other news, my family is crazy!! But I love them all the same, haha. With a approx. one month old baby we will be making a 12 hour drive up to Michigan for my little brother's high school graduation on June 6th. To top it off, I just found out my step-brother and his fiance have decided to get married on June 12th, which makes the trip even longer. I'm going to need some expert advice on traveling with a newborn!!
ikkin510
10-26-2009, 01:21 PM
Honestly, traveling with a newborn is a lot easier then traveling as they get old. Yes you will have to stop to feed the baby and what not, but for th emost part they sleep most of the time. Still easy to take from place to place. Once they get to be about 5 months old it is a lot more challanging to travel.
The big things is you will have a ton of extra stuff to pack when you go. It's amazing how much a small child requires!
Heywie
10-26-2009, 01:26 PM
Congrats on the second trimester!!! I can't wait to be there!
That will be a long trip for you to take - you'll probably be more tired than the newborn! At least you'll be getting it all out of the way at once and won't need to make 2 trips!
FutureKelley
10-27-2009, 12:34 AM
Yes, I am thankful that it will cut us down on a second trip... but at the same time my vacation days don't kick in until July, so I may have to take off a week unpaid to stay that long. Thankfully hubby will have his vacation time by then, so it helps. It should be a lot of fun though! Everyone up there who won't be able to make it down when the baby is born will be able to see him/her, and it means more time with my mom and hopefully I'll get to spend some time with my dad too. :)

Congrats on the second trimester!
My parents traveled with me for the first time when I was a month old - they were on an airplane and mom remembers that they had a little bassinet that fastened to the arm of the chair for me...and apparently I slept the whole time. :)
The good thing is that you will have about a million relatives who will want to hold the baby - so you can take a little break!

So, I went and got both flu shots yesterday. I was very hesitant about getting the H1N1, but working in a school with so many sick kids and hearing about so many women getting sick and having a miscarraige or having an emergency c-section pretty much scared the **** out of me. I really hope I did the right thing. My husband wasn't too happy with me getting it though. But I actually feel better now than I did going in... my stuffy nose and headache are gone! I thought that was weird, lol.

Started painting our soon to be spare bedroom today! It's going to take me a couple of weekends to get it done. When we moved in this particular bedroom was painted lavender/bright orange/dark blue with flames on the walls. Oh yes, it's pretty horrible, lol. And living here well over a year we have still yet to paint it. But since our current spare bedroom will be the new nursery, I figured it was about time to get it done.
If any pregnant ladies are looking for a good, safe paint... I highly recommend Olympic. I did a bunch of research before buying and not only does it have 0 VOC, but does not smell AT ALL. Well worth the extra money!!
Good info on the paint, thanks for the heads up!!

Today's appt. was pretty uneventful. I did get to meet the doctor this time, but didn't get much time with him as he has someone in L&D delivering any minute! It was basically just weight, blood pressure, urine sample and check baby's heartbeat. He scared the **** out of me at first because he couldn't find the heartbeat. When he did, he had a hard time hearing it over mine... but it came out at a healthy 160 BPM.
I'm starting to feel movement too!! :) It have felt flutters over the past week or so and it's getting stronger as the days go on. Nothing you can feel from the outside yet, but I'm excitied for it to get strong enough for hubby to feel.
Next appt. is Dec. 2nd and we get our 20 week ultrasound. Of course, we still aren't finding out by I'm excitied to see him/her!

Alot of the check ups will be jut that, weight, blood pressure, urine sample and the hearing of the heartbeat. My last appointment, I swear the dr. was rushing to get out of there, she never offered any information, I had to tell her that I had questions, then she slowed down. (I miss my old dr!)
They say that sometimes it does take a bit to find the heart beat and not to worry.
How cool is the fluttering? I will feel it now and again, I guess if the baby is facing inside, you don't feel it as much, which would make sense.
My 20 weeks is coming up in 17 days (who's counting?) and I can't wait!!!
Good luck to you!
Heywie

Wow! Your 20 week will be here before you know it! The best part of it will be finding out that the baby is healthy and everything is going well.
I can't believe you're letting DH have his way! My friend had this same issue and this was the remedy: At the U/S, they had the tech right the sex on a piece of paper and seal it in an envelope. They then mailed that envelope to my friend's brother and he was the only one who knew (he lives out of state). Then, they had a family baby shower earlier than her other baby shower, and her brother brought a sex-related gift. When she opened it, she knew right away she was having a boy because it was Dodger gear and a little baseball glove. This was how they compromised. Her husband still got the surprise factor and was able to say, "It's a boy!!!" to his relatives, and she got to know with enough time to register for some boy things for her other shower.
I think I probably will go nuts. My husband had better love me, because I'm letting him get his way on this one. I'm still hoping the ultrasound tech. will sneak me a peak on the ultrasound next month, haha.
Next time you go see your dr without your hubby, have them put it in the notes in your chart...it would be your little secret! lol

Well, we decided not to keep the names a secret anymore so I thought I would share with you ladies.
Boy: Gabriel Jensen
Girl: Farren Jean
Jean is both my mother and I's middle name, so I thought it would be pretty cool to carry on the "tradition". Otherwise, it was going to be Farren Riley.

I actually got it out of a Stephen King book. He used it as a last name for a character, but I fell in love with it as a girls name. I liked Farrah and Fallon... but I thought this was a more unique play off those names.

Thanks guys! I really love the names we picked out too. :)
Over the weekend I finished painting our spare bedroom that currently has nothing in it. That will be the new guest room, and the guest room will be turned into the nursery. Next weekend all of the furniture is getting moved over and we can finally start on it!
My uncle's family is giving me a crib and matching changing table for free. They are also giving me a ton of newborn girl and boy clothes. So Iam picking that up in a few weeks when we makea trip up north for Thanksgiving. I am sooo excitied! I'm also hoping if Babies R Us has some good deals for black friday we will be able to go purchase the stroller/car seat combo I am really wanting. YAY!

Totally copying Danielle here, but I wanted to share the crib set we ended up picking out. I'm totally in love with it, plus it's 100% organic! The room itself is painted a very light blue-ish color and we will be decorating mainly with a sage green. I have yet to put anything in there... but I think it will look nice together (and I do not want to paint another room, lol).

Wellll.... I have some good news! I did end up getting my husband to agree to let me find out. But, after thinking about it... he is right, it's not nearly as much fun as finding out together. I mean, how often do you have your first child? Oh right, only once. So, even though he told me I can, I'm not sure that I will. Plus, I really don't know if I can trust myself to keep my mouth shut. He doesn't want me to tell our families, which means I couldn't even post on here because there are certain family members who know that I'm on some forums and it wouldn't take much to find. Where is the fun if I can't share it with anyone??

i'm gonna guess girl but not from the ultrasounds... just based off the fact that statistically i think OW is due some girls LOL

I am so happy either way. Actually, I started out wanting a girl but the idea of having a boy has really been growing on me lately. It's funny because according the the old wives tales, heartbeat wise it's in the girl range, but position wise it's in the boy range (baby's head is seriously down as far as it could possibly go, lol). I haven't really had any real cravings, so I can't throw that one in there. I'm leaning towards thinking it's a girl though.
My mom is so funny, she is coming down for the shower in March, then coming down again when the baby is born, then we are going up for my brothers graduation & step-brothers wedding in June... and now my mom is planning on coming back down later in the summer! Haha, this kid is gonna be SPOILED.

My crib is here! My grandparents brought it over today. We are hoping to have it all set up this weekend, so I'm pretty excited about that.
Thought I would post my current belly pic. It seems like my belly has exploded out over the last week. Must have been all that turkey, haha. This was taken today, 19 weeks, 4 days.

And very strange... I started lactating today!! Geez, I'm not that far along! lol Thankfully I'm not leaking too bad... not enough to go through my bra anyway, just enough to wet my shirt if I'm not wearing it.

Our rooms are just sooo tiny that for now I'm having to leave my desk with all my sewing stuff in the babies room. I have no idea WHAT we will do once baby starts getting into things. I have no room for it in either of the other bedrooms. We have no storage at all in the house (not even a garage), which sucks because we have all kinds of boxes stacked in the spare room. I think we may end up having to rent out a storage unit or something, which I really didn't want to do. *sigh* I want to move sooo bad!

Good grief, the mood swings are starting. I am normally the easiest person in the world to get along with. I'm the type of person that just goes with the flow and doesn't worry about too many things. Well... lately I have been going from perfectly fine to crazy b*tch in 2 seconds flat. I feel sorry for my husband! Like tonight, I almost locked my car keys inside at work, and if I had the only thing I could do is call my husband to come and bring me a set of keys. Well, he had not been answering his phone all night. I got home and he left it in the bedroom where you cannot hear it ring. Sooo... I could have been stuck standing outside for god knows how long before he decided to go check his phone and call me. I was sooo pissed, even though nothing bad happend! And poor him, I'm being a b*tch while he is standing over the stove making me dinner. :(
On a brighter note, my mom sent the baby a christmas present! She got me the Angelcare Movement Monitor that I really wanted. I didn't put it on my registry because I thought it was too expensive for someone to buy. I love my mommy!

So I got awesome news today!! My husband is currently working part time at Staples and part time at another shop. He usually gets about 30 hrs a week at Staples, which is really good for part time there, he gets more hours than most of the part-timers because he is the top salesperson there (even beating all the people who have been there for years). Even though he hasn't even worked there for 6 months yet, he was put second in command over the electronic department.
Well, the "lead" in that position (ie, person in charge, full time w/ benefits and better pay) put in his two weeks notice today. That means Ryan is next in line for his job! I am soooo happy!! Not only is he guarenteed 40 hours a week, but he will also get benefits (he isn't on mine because that would cost us $600 a month, yikes!!) and a pay raise!
I am soooo freakin' happy right now! I mean, we are able to pay our bills with a little bit left over, but this just could not have come at a better time!

Welcome to the second half of pregnancy. I found it's pretty much impossible for me to sleep anymore. I wake up constantly because I"m uncomfortable or I'll wake up in the middle of the night wide awake.
As for the heartburn, there are a few things you can take for that. But again, just another fun part of the second half of your journey!
I have to say, I have been REALLY lucky and have had no heartburn. As for the sleeping goes, i have been awake every night about the same time 1:30-3ish wide awake. I just wake up..usually to go the bathroom, but not of the time...maybe its our bodies getting ready for the real deal for nightly feedings?
Brian's Bride
12-17-2009, 07:24 PM
If that's the case (your body getting ready for nightly feedings) I'd recommend you sit on the toilet for at least 30 minutes!
I'm usually up for 30-45 minutes to feed Brant, every 2 to 3 hours at night! And that's with a bottle. If it were BFing, I'm sure it's be an hour at least!

Echo and Narcissus in Greek Mythology
Echo was a beautiful nymph (http://www.loggia.com/myth/nymphs.html), fond of the woods and hills, where she devoted herself to woodland sports. She was a favorite of Artemis (http://www.loggia.com/myth/artemis.html), and attended her in the chase. But Echo had one failing; she was fond of talking, and whether in chat or argument, would have the last word. One day Hera (http://www.loggia.com/myth/hera.html) was seeking her husband, who, she had reason to fear, was amusing himself among the nymphs. Echo by her talk contrived to detain the goddess till the nymphs made their escape. When Hera discovered it, she passed sentence upon Echo in these words: "You shall forfeit the use of that tongue with which you have cheated me, except for that one purpose you are so fond of - reply. You shall still have the last word, but no power to speak first."
This nymph saw Narcissus, a beautiful youth, as he pursued the chase upon the mountains. She loved him and followed his footsteps. O how she longed to address him in the softest accents, and win him to converse! But it was not in her power. She waited with impatience for him to speak first, and had her answer ready. One day the youth, being separated from his companions, shouted aloud, "Who's here?" Echo replied, "Here." Narcissus looked around, but seeing no one called out, "Come". Echo answered, "Come." As no one came, Narcissus called again, "Why do you shun me?" Echo, asked the same question. "Let us join one another," said the youth. The maid answered with all her heart in the same words, and hastened to the spot, ready to throw her arms about his neck. He started back, exclaiming, "Hands off! I would rather die than you should have me!" "Have me," said she; but it was all in vain. He left her, and she went to hide her blushes in the recesses of the woods. From that time forth she lived in caves till at last all her flesh shrank away. Her bones were changed into rocks and there was nothing left of her but her voice. With that she is still ready to reply to any one who calls her, and keeps up her old habit of having the last word.

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! I can't believe it's already over with this year.
Hubby and I had a wonderful day. We actually got a white Christmas! Well, for a few hours anyway. We just got a light dusting that melted by late morning. We slept in and then got up to open our presents to each other. He got me a beautiful diamond necklace and a few other things for around the house. We then went and spent the rest of the day at the in-laws. Had lots of fun playing the Wii and visiting.
The baby got lots of presents too! We got the angelcare monitor system from my mom, a wipes warmer from my BIL/his girlfriend, lots and lots of books for baby from hubby, a bunch of little things (burp clothes, blankets, ect) from his aunt and I even bought baby a little Pink Floyd onesie that hubby got as a present. I think he/she made out very well. ;) Oh, and not to mention we got a few super cute expecting/baby on the way ornaments!
We are going Sunday up to Springfield, MO for a little shopping trip. We are hoping to find some really cute stuff for the nursery and maybe get myself a couple more maternity shirts. I'm hoping to find some good after Christmas sales.
Oh and here was a nice pic of the hubby and I taken yesterday. :)
