Ok, so I'm finally starting my baby/family journal. I'm just a little slow...LOL
Quicky overview...I've been married to my wonderful husband for almost 3 years now. We were thrilled to find out after 6 months of trying we were pregnant with our son in 2007. Ryan was born Feb 5, 2008. He is all boy now. Loves his trucks and getting into trouble. But still likes to cuddle with mommy at night before bed.
We decided in May to go off birth control and we'd officially start TTC in September. But if it happened sooner, great! Lo and behold I found out at the end of May I found out I was pregnant. We were shocked that it happened right away aft trying for 6 months last time. But thrilled.
My due date is Feb 7, 2010. Hoping to go a week early or even a week later to give some time between the kids birthdays.

At first I didn't think I wanted to find out the sex of the baby this time (we did find out with my son.) My Dh really wanted to know though and I think he knew I would change my mind too. I'm a planner and an organizer. And I really hate big surprises. I wanted to be able to know if I need to buy new clothes or if I could break out my son's stuff from storage and have that ready to go.
Needless to say, I of course decided that I had to know the sex. I was so excited to schedule my ultrasound for last Friday (Sept 4). Even made sure I had money to go shopping afterward. But, of course, this LO is stubburn. Right now he/she is breech and facing inward so it was impossible to see the face or the sex. He /she was moving around, just not turning around. So I really didn't even get a picture of the face.
So I'm still kinda down about that. I'm really hoping to be able to convince my doctor to let me have another U/S. But normally they don't do another now unless there is a problem. Plus, the further along you get, the harder it gets to tell the sex. I remember with my son I did get a second U/S because I was measuring smaller then I should have been at 30 weeks and they barely got the shot. (at least we found out at the 18 week u/s with him.)
So now I'm looking for more neutral stuff to have on hand. I'm also trying to work on planning out my son's big boy room. We hope to have him moved to the larger spare room in a few weeks so he has time to adjust before the new baby.

As for names...we are clueless. We didnt' decide on Ryan's name until the day after he was born. We had a girls name picked out (Courtney Ella). But this time around DH has decided he doesn't like it anymore. And we really can't agree on any names for a boy or a girl. So this should be interesting.
Yayyyy another journal :) I reallyyyy hope that you can find out what the sex of the baby is. I couldn't imagine your doc saying "nope, sorry, plan neutral"... I would think if you want to find out what it is, they'd HAVE to do it again. *fingers crossed for you finding out!!*

Nikki, that sucks that you couldn't see on Friday! :( I'm sure you'll know soon enough though. ;)
That's awesome that you got pregnant so quickly! I'm glad you started a journal! :jphappy:

If your doctor wont give you another ultrasound would you possibly be able to book a private scan somewhere?
ikkin510

I'll have to look into that. I'm hoping I can convince my doctor at my next appointment at the end of the month. She really wanted to know what I was having before she left to have her baby which is due 2 weeks after my next appointment. So MAYBE she'll do a quick one in the office for me. Gotta work on my convincing skills...LOL

I love the name Courtney!!!!! And I'm soooo Happy to see this thread :)
BTW, I want to let you all know that if Nikki ever mentions an "Auntie Boston", that's me :D I literally adore her son!
Annnndddd, I want all you ladies to know that Nikki and I first met 4 years ago here on OneWed :) Now we're best pals :)
Okay...Back to Nikki's Journal!

Yes, Amanda is known as Auntie Boston in my house. We have actually met twice in person and plan on getting together many more times. She's one of my bestest friends.
I still do really love the name Courtney for a girl. Steve likes Madison and Grace this time.
Boys, I like Logan and Collin. Steve likes Jacob and Luke. I might be able to go settle on Jacob, but I'm not sure yet.

That's awsome :)
I looooove Logan & Jacob, but Logan tops the list for me... Also, I like Courtney but I'm going to have to side with DH on this - I love the name Grace :)
What about Logan Jacob or Grace Courtney/Courtney Grace? I like the ring that has to it - Courtney Grace :D

Courtney Grace does sound really pretty. IDK, we will have to sit down again one day and go through the name book...again.
This week I'm going to look into other places to get U/S done at. Just to see when you can have them done, how much they cost, etc. I am way to impatient to wait till my next appointment to ask about another..LOL. Thats a whole 3 weeks away!

Shesh I forgot what picture I had as my avatar. That was from when Ryan was about 10 or 11 months old I think. Guess I should find a new pic to update that with.
Yes, he is quite the little man now. Loves to do anything his daddy is doing. Yesterday he was looking for DH and I told him he was at work. SO Ryan went, put his shoes on, got out a lunch bag and found my keys and stood at the door yelling "Work, Bye bye!" Then got upset when I told him he couldn't go to work with Daddy today.

Uhg, I just did some research and the closest place I can go to get an U/S done (not doctor sent) is at least an hour away and costs $140. This is not working out in my favor so far. Back to waiting on my next appointment at the end of the month and hoping the doctor will take pitty on me!
I would think it wouldn't take much effort to just do the U/S. Your doc should be cool about it. But ugh! A whole 3 weeks away!

Not to hijack Nikki's thread, but I am doing very well thank you. Yes after many years of ttc, two miscarriages and one nearly fatal tubal pregnancy, we concieved twins through IVF who were born at 32 weeks. They are healthy and happy little boys! I hope you are doing well too Amanda! Good luck with your journey as well. Keep your eye on the prize and know that, it may be a long and difficult road but that with good friends and family, you will make it through. Take care!

Congrats on your twins Shawna! Jenn showed me pics when they were first born. I'm so glad to hear they are doing so well!
And thank you. We are excited about this new addition!
Well I went to the store to pick up the intelligender test. It was $50!! Um, yeah, it is suppose to only sell for $30 in store. I'm sorry for a test that is not totally reliable, I'm not spending $50. O well. If I find it for the right selling price in my shopping, I'll pick it up. Honestly, I was just not meant to know the sex of this baby!
Some good news. I was talking to the wife of one of DH's work buddies. She offered to give me all her girl clothes if we have a girl. She said she will wash all the newborn and 0-3 month stuff for me so that it's ready to go and she'll drop it off at the house if that's what we end up having. So that's nice to know that I'll have clothes if I don't find out till the day the baby is born!
That's awesome about the baby clothes!!!! Friends/buddies who have kids first are the best LOL!

$50?!? That's insane!! You'll just have to finesse your way into another U/S while at the doctor. Or else, can't you just say you fell or something and want to have an U/S to make sure everything is okay? So, it's not exactly honest, but... I probably shouldn't have even typed that out! :)
ikkin510
09-09-2009, 12:56 PM
I'd be lying if I said the fall idea has never crossed my mind...LOL.
A friend of mind pointed out the other night that just telling them the baby was breach in the u/s may be enough to convince them to do a second one. Maybe not right away, but within the 2 months or so.

Are you set on your doctor? Maybe you would consider switching to one who does more ultrasounds. Mine gives an ultrasound every appointment- he loves it. lol

I love my doctor. Switching would involve more traveling and switching hospitals to one even further away (my hospital is already 40 minutes away. and my first labor went quickly). I don't need a lot of U/S. I just want to know boy or girl, that's all!

oo oo idea! idea! the intelligeder results are based on urine acidity... so u just need to do a pH test...so u could buy some litmus paper ooor like an at home urine ph kit (?) i'm sure both those are MUCH cheaper than $50 LOLOL

I was reading about the draino test online yesterday. That is suppose to tell you boy or girl by whether it chances color. But the smell is very bad to be breathing in and the results really don't line up. I was reading an article on snopes about it.
I need to get my hubby to convince my BIL to let me have another one. He works at the hospital. He has to have some pull somewhere. Right? Although from the movement I've been feeling I think the baby is still in the same position. So that won't help much.

And that's 40 minutes with no traffic, which we know never happens...LOL.
The hospital i delievered my son at is 5 minutes away but they got rid of the OB ward. I got there with little time. So there is still a good chance I may end up delieverying at the local hospital and then being transfered to the regular one 40+minutes away. But that's a while off yet.

Justina suggested I do a little list of my symptoms and such and everyone and have fun helping me figure out what my stubburn LO is, boy or girl. So here you go!
*nausea: not too bad. Only from about weeks 8 to 14.
*Vomitting: week 12-14
*No gagging
*Aversions to yogert, sweet potatos and too much dairy
*Carving: chocolate, pasta and at first a juicy hamburger
*Always hungry. Starting about a few days after conception
*Acne is so so. not horrible but not good
*Felt the baby move at abotu 12 weeks
*VERY sensitive to heat (that could have just been my thyroid condition)
*Have yet to gain any weight. Lost 10 lbs and holding steady the last month. (again could be the thyroid)
*Really hormonal/moody compaired to my first pregnancy
This is my most recent belly picture taken at 18 weeks.....

Ok, so today I was bored so I figured I'd look up some neutral baby bedding. That could easily work for boy or girl. Or at least I hope. I found two options that I kinda like so far.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a388/ikkin510/bedding1.jpg
This one I'd have to repaint for. The nursery is a green, but I don't think it would go well with the green in the bedding.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a388/ikkin510/bedding2-1.jpg
This choice would go a little better with the paint color. But I'm not sure how it would look with the white crib.
These are my first round of options (I haven't shown them to DH yet so who knows what he'll think.) If we find out the sex in the near future I'll go with a gender specific theme. But for now I'm just going to stick with neutral.

Here's hoping you learn the sex of that baby so you can find a gender specific set you LOVE! I get the vibe you're settling for these... and they are very cute! But boy do I hope you can get in another ultrasound soon and see some special parts that show you one way or the other!

I talked with DH and he would rather get gender specific bedding too. So fingers crossed that I get another U/S. I have a good feeling that the baby turned yesterday. I could feel him or her shifting and now I"m getting kicked in a slightly different place. So I'll hoping he/she says this way for another 2 weeks and that I can convince the doctor of a quick U/S at the office!
I'm going off the pic- I'm going to say a boy. The baby seems to be riding a bit low...? And your symptoms don't sound too bad compared to some (although I've never had a baby so I wouldn't know LOL). However, you already have a boy, so I could be wayyyy off :D

I love the gender specific. While green is one of my favorite colors, it's just not something I wanna douse my baby girl's room in, ya know? :) I can't wait to see what you come up with!
ikkin510

Haven't really gotten a chance to look at gender specific bedding yet. I want time when both DH and I can sit at the computer and do it together. Easier that way, I think.
This week I'm busy working on going through the spare room and relocating things. Picked up a few paint samples, just have to make the final pick out of the shades of beige. Then just getting Dh to move the furniture around since I can't do that.
We've gotten no where on the name front. And under 2 weeks to go till my next appointment when I hope to convince her for another U/S. I can tell the baby has definitely flipped about now...As long as he/she stays that way!
And a side note...I could really go for a hershey bar right now. But Ryan is down for his nap. Grrrr.
Sounds like fun! It'd cut your searches in half once you find out what you're having too!

Now i remember what else I wanted to add. I have a stupid sinus infection. Wonderful. My nose isn't running or anything like that, but my sinuses are draining which is giving me a cough. Plus the sinus pressure is giving me horrible headaches and it's putting pressure on my neck injury from a few years back. So I can't turn my head some days. If it doesn't clear up soon I'm goign to have to call and see what all i can take to help clear it up.
Ohhhh I can sympathize with you. I will be comparing labor to my sinus infection I had in high school. So far, the sinus infection on a scale of 1-10 rates an 11 for me. I hope you feel better soon!

Awww. If it makes you feel any better... I get that ALL the time. lol
Heres what i suggest!! Make yourself some tea (no milk!) and put honey in it.. Preferably honey from your state, as it helps with sinus and allergy. The warmth will make your throat feel better, and the steam will, too. :)

This weekend marked the halfway point for me. Shesh, this pregnancy is going so much faster then my first.
We cleaned out the spare room, set up the new crib and found out the room is smaller then we though. Grr. So now we have to re-work some things. I"m thinking about taking the double doors off the closet and putting the dresser/changing table in there. Then buying some nice closet organizers for it. That way it makes the room feel like it has an added nook in there and since the closet is so long, I'll still have storage space hidden from view.
My next appointment is a week from tomorrow. I'm really anxious to see if I can get another U/s!

I thought about hanging curtains in place of the closet doors too, with tie backs. That way I can always close off the closet when we have a guest since that room is also the guest room. Or leave them tied open for every day use.

I also talked to her about the swine flu shot. She is also pregnant so I figured her oppinion was the best. She strongly urges it and plans on getting it herself. While there hasnt been much testing done, apparently there has been a few pregnant women' in the area who have gotten it, and not all of them made it. And seeing I also have asthma on top of being pregnant, she REALLY wants me to get it. Nothing like scaring me, ya know?
Wow your appointment was early!
Well bummer about no U/S. At least she pretty much guaranteed one for the next appointment! A whole month away though!!!! :realmad:
So are you pretty sure you're going to get the shot?

Aww Nikki I am sorry she didn't give you a U/S, the swine flu shot scares me too if it makes you feel any better.

Aw man! I can't believe she wouldn't just give you the U/S!!! Lame! Doesn't she know you need to plan ahead?! Nursery decor, people!!!
At least you'll have one soon. Hopefully baby cooperates and shows the goods.
The swine flu vaccine freaks me out, too! What kind of work do you do? Are you exposed to a lot of people all the time? I don't think I'll get the swine flu one. My nurse last week told me she didn't know enough about it yet to recommend it since it's only been out for about 7 months.

I'm a stay at home mom so it's not like I'm around a ton of people. But because of my asthma it makes it even harder if I do get it. It really freaks me out. For example, the sinus thing I have now affects my breathing/asthma and I get worried and wonder if it isn't more, even though I know it isn't.
Right now I'm leaning towards getting it, but I'm not sure. I've heard that the regular flu vaccine is suppose to help a bit. So I may talk with my regular doctor when I get that next week and see what she says too.
ikkin510
09-30-2009, 09:03 PM
I heard on the news today that this area most likely won't even have the swine flu shot available till january. At that time I might as well just not get it since the baby will be born most likely that month or the begining of February. That would solve that.
As for my foot that I mentioned in Danielle's journal. A few days ago my foot started to get a little sore on the bottom and into my ankle. It wasn't bad until today when I can't walk on it without quite the hobbling. So I had my BiL come over to check it out (he's a paramedic). He says he doesn't think it's anything serious, just that I pulled some tendins (sp?). So I'm suppose to keep it wrapped and stay off of it for now and it should get better.
Ha, stay off of it. I have to pee constantly or I'm getting up to get somethign to eat. Plus I have a toddle who is entering into the terrible 2s stage. Yeah. I'll try to stay off of it but there are no promises here!
Aw shucks sorry 'bout your foot! I hope you it gets better quick!

Having the toddler fetch food would not work. He'd eat it before it got to me. Not to mention he is entering into the terrible two stage. So, he refuses to listen to anything I say right now. Fun....LOL. Good thing he's cute. I love when he gets in trouble though. He runs over to you crying saying "huggies, huggies" and give you hugs like he is saying sorry.
Right now I'm just doing what I have been doing with avoiding swine flu. Stay home whenever possible, hand sanitiser, etc.
Danielle, nope, didn't hurt it doing the AF dance, no worries!

So I'm still fighting this stupid sinus thing. The antibiotic didn't really do anything for me. although I have noticed that it isn't running into my chest as much. I hate to get put on another drug to try to knock it out of my system. So for now I'm just going to up my Vitamin C intake and try some of the water and apple vinager that I did once before. I figure uping the vitamin c can't hurt much to keep other things away too.
Steve has been able to feel the baby move a few times now. We are both figuring he/she is still breach since the kicks are still really low in my belly. I need to do some research one when babies normally flip and when to start to worry. I was talking to a friend who's baby flipped at 8 1/2 months and she said that it was extremely painful. Like almost as bad a labor itself. I know there are some things I can do to urge the baby to flip. So I may try that too.
ikkin510
10-05-2009, 02:22 PM
I just did some quick research and it looks like I'm about at the time where most babies flip on their own. So I am going to hold of worrying for another few weeks.
Qtpie
10-05-2009, 02:26 PM
I hope your little one will flip on its own, i have a friend right now who is about 28 weeks and her baby is sitting breach to. My poor friend is freaking out.
ikkin510
10-05-2009, 02:29 PM
From what I read come about 32 weeks or so is when it's less likely the baby will flip. Less room then. But not impossible.

So I got a call this afternoon from my doctor. She told me she was thinking of me this weekend and figured out how to get me another u/s sooner. Since I have the hyperthyroidism, so is sending me to a special u/s place to make sure that it hadn't affected the baby in any way. She seriously doubts it did, but this way we can double check and I should be able to see everything else I'd like to see too! So I'm all excited now. Anxiously awaiting a call from the office to find out when and where exactly this U/S will be!

Today is mine and Steve's 3 year anniversary. He's doing a good job putting up with me...LOL. We went out to dinner last night and let Ryan with his godparents. IT was a nice night. But pregnant women should not eat Olive Garden. I STILL have some heartburn left over from it.
I ended up making a doctors appointment today too. This sinus/cold things is getting worse. It isso bad in my chest that I have been having to use my rescue inhaler for my asthma twice a day. I just hope it isnt' turning into something more serious, like Pnuemonia. Oy.

Thanks everyone! We didn't end up doing anything special on the actual anniversary. DH was suppose to have today and tomorrow off for vacation time, but got a call yesterday afternoon that they had a opening in a class he has been trying to get in for a while so he is working now.
The doctor put me on different meds. I have only been on them for about 24 hours so nothing noticably different. But he said there isn't anything else strong he can give me other then this because of being pregnant. He wanted me to get in to see my sinus doctor and my asthma doctor within the next week. The office called to make appointments and it will be 3 weeks for the sinuses and 2 months for the asthma. Shesh.
Still have yet to recieve a call about setting up an U/S date for that other U/S. If I haven't heard by Monday morning I'll have to call my doctor and get the info and call myself I guess. Find out what the hold up is.
I also found out the ladies at our church want to hold a shower for me. I thought that was nice. Although I'm not a big shower person. Expecially since it's my second there really isn't too much I need. But if they really want to do it, more power to them!
Awww that's sweet about the shower! What a bummer the specialists' can't get you in sooner! Maybe they can put you on a cancellation waiting list?

Had my next prenatal appointment this morning. I'm still measuring 2 weeks ahead of schedule. I'm 25 1/2 weeks right now, measuring just over 27 weeks. I have been dealing with nasty acid reflux lately. That and I have pregnancy induced tendonitis in what seems like all my joints. I am so hoping that this baby decided to make an appearance on the earlier end of things...and not 42 weeks. I also got my H1N1 vaccine today. They are out of regular flu shots. I have an appointment with my family doctor tomorrow so I'm hoping they have some so both my son and I can finally get one. They are just as hard to come by here as the H1N1 shot. I'm beginning to think it's easier to get the h1n1!
A week from today I have another U/S! I'm actually going to an advanced maternal medicine facility for this one. I had a lot of problems with my thyroid being out of wack in the beginning of pregnancy and this place can do a more indepth U/S to make sure it had no affects on the baby. So fingers are crossed everything is ok and hopefully we will finally know if we should be buying pink or blue things.
Now to convince this child that he/she does not need to be jamming it's hand or foot in my ribs constantly...LOL

I was suprised my doctor had the H1N1. I was told no one in our area had it yet. Now I just need to find a place that I can get it for Ryan. And the stupid flu shot of course.
The tendonitis is a stiff/sore feeling in your joints. I know, expecially in my wrists and my one ankle, the joint will stiffen up on me then I flex it too much. My wrists are really bad. To the point where I can tighten or loosen caps that are on really well. I had this in my wrists with my last pregnancy. But this is a first with it in my ankles, knees and shoulders. When my legs are really bad it's hard to walk up stair or even stand up. It feels like my legs may just give out. Thankfully this normally all goes away after the baby is born. Just have to get to that point!
A week away!!! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for ya. I can't wait to hear what you find out at your ultrasound!

I have my doctor calling in a perscription for something to control my acid reflux. It's not the heartburn part that is bothering me much either. It's the tight, sore chest, sore throat, etc. Nothing has been working. Hopefully whatever they give me works and gives me some relief.
I've been dealing with Anxiety a lot the last day or too. I get heart palpitations with this pregnancy and they freak me out to the point where I am having a constant anxiety attack it seems like. Uhg. Dr said it's nothing to really worry about, just annoying, but still. Only 97 more days to go...
Oh and 24 hours from now I WILL find out the sex of this baby. I told my husband I may refuse to leave if they can't tell me this time. I need to know! The suspense is too much. LOL If not we may have a little boy in a dress or a little girl with a bib that says "i'm a mama's boy". I'm going with the positive thinking route though. If I insist that I will find out I will.
Uhg, I hope I can relax too. This anxiety is really getting to me. I can't sleep at night and I feel like I need a constant distraction. Good thing I have a toddler to keep me busy most of the day!

For a boy we are thinking construction vehicles. But I have a few options in mind. I am going to let my son make the final decision. He'll only be just turning 2 when the baby is born, but this way he is "helping" get things ready.
For a girl we haven't found a theme we really liked. I want to just find a nice quilt and then just do pastel colors I think.

Ryan still doesn't completely understand the whole baby idea yet. But I'm sure he will love having a brother.
Cute story. While we were sitting in the waiting room we were telling Ryan that we we going to look inside mommy's belly, take pictures and see his baby. He would thenk put his eyes up against my belly and say "see?" Then while having the U/S he thought it was the coolest thing and wanted to look at his belly too!
We asked him if he wanted a baby boy and he gave a huge smile. Then we asked a baby girl and he shock his head no. So I guess he got his vote too!

No name picked out yet. We didn't decide on a name for my first son until the day after he was born. I"m hoping to have something picked out before then this time. I told Steve be prepared to be hitting the baby names book this weekend!
Didn't get pictures done this morning. Ryan was in a cranky mood and so the only thing that kept him happy was cleaning (yes my son LOVES to clean.) So I did get a lot of cleaning done. I'll have to do pictures later today.

Food and cleaning....he will never want to leave your house! LOL. We go out to any place and he sees a vacuum and he has to use it. He will have a total meltdown if not. I got him his own little squirt bottle and sponges to help me clean the bathroom. He LOVES that. Follows me around going over my cleaning.
If he is eating somethign that leaves a lot of crumbs, or for example, rice krispy cereal he hasnt' mastered yet, and has a lot that misses his mouth he gets all excited cause he knows it means he'll get to clean up afterwards. He got mad at Dh the other night cause he took out the garbage without him. Another thing he loves to do. Ryan keeps this up and he will be making his wife VERY happy!

It's inherited unforunately. My sister and I are both big neat freaks so it only figures that he would be too. That and I always try to do the cleaning when he is watching and make it look like fun. This way not only did he learn to like cleaning, but it give me time during nap time to come online and not be doing 100 different things. LOL

Oh and I went and got my Gestational Diabetes test done this morning. Eww. I'm sorry but that stuff does not taste like orange soda. I felt so yucky after drinking that. I should :crossfingers: know my results by Friday or Monday at the latest. I'm really hoping that everythign is ok. That means they will move my due date up two weeks too. But if not I have to take another test and I may have to give up my doughnuts and candy! NO!!!! LOL

So I talked with one of my nurses this afternoon. She called to see if I got my acid reflux perscription. While on the phone she checked and my gestational diabetes test results were in already! Good news...I passed! I asked why the baby would be measuring 2 weeks further along then. She say she is 99% sure the doctor will tell me at my next appointment that my due date is off. So I might as well consider myself futher along now!
So my new due date is January 26th and I'm just over 28 weeks now.

yesterday we took a trip to the thrift store. Got Ryan a pair of snow boots. I couldn't bring myselft to spend $25 on a pair of boots that might last him half a winter. So instead I bought a pair in really good condition for $5.
I also picked up one of those warm infant carseat covers for the baby. Then we found a really cute bedding set. Brand new, a comforter, crib sheet, and 5 wall hangings. $30. I don't completely love the the set, but for $30 we couldn't say no! It's a Noah's ark set and the colors in it are so pretty.
All the sets I find online are so expensive. And seeing that there a quite a few thing we need to pick up I figured this is something I can not spend a lot on now, but change it up later on down the road.
Great score on the set!!! Matt and I agreed years ago that we were doing Noah's Ark for our first baby. However, we're back to debating again :)

I was really hoping to do the nursery in more of a boyish theme, trucks or something. Blues, etc. But there are quite a few expensive items we need to get yet that are a little more important. Like the double jogging stroller. I love to walk and the sidewalks in town (when they have them) aren't the best. You really need a jogger to walk. Plus I'd like to have one of the sit and stand regular stroller for the mall and stores, etc. Ryan is in no way ready to handle walking an entire shopping trip yet and the jogger would be too wide for stores.
Plus we need to get a new infant carseat since ours doesn't fit very well in the van...the vehicle that we take most places. And I need a new baby monitar. We got a really cheap one with Ryan and it's not working to well anymore. Sigh.
I know we are having a small shower through church, but I expect simple thigns from them. Clothes, diapers, etc. So gotta save my pennies for the big stuff that is really needed.

Here is a pic of the comforter, crib sheet and wall hangings we have for the nursery. I am going to see if I can find any of the other pieces to the set on ebay or something.

11-14-2009, 03:20 PM
I am liking it more and more the more I look at it and get ideas. I'd like to look for at least the mobile and the lamp that go with the set. I also need to look for a duvet cover for the comforter on the spare bed we have in the room. It's a bluish plaid (that I never really liked). So I'm thinking I'll just got a cover in a dark brown or light brown. Then get some throw pillows or something in some of the other colors from the crib comforter.

I'm really wondering how I'm going to survive the next 2 months or so. I have had so much hip and lower back pain the last two days. This morning it's so bad it hurt to stand up and walk. So much for getting anything accomplished today.

I haad back pain with Ryan for the last month. They say the aches and pains come sooner and tend to be worse with the second pregnancy. I'm really thinking that this baby changed the way he was laying last night though and is just sitting on some nerves weird. Hopefully he moves. But I think tonight I'm going to relax in the tub and hope that helps. I'm sitting with a vibrating back pillow now and that is helping a bit.

Nikki - any chance at a jaccuzzi or whirlpool? I mean you don't have to heat it up to 100+* as I know that's not good for baby from what I've heard, but the jets and warm water may help you feel better.
ikkin510
11-17-2009, 01:12 PM

Thanks ladies. This morning my back was fine and only one hip hurt. Yay! Although I woke up with such a massive sinus headache that the room was spinning. But at the least the went away now.
I found the duvet cover for the spare bed in the baby's room I'm going to order after Christmas. I'm going to order a cover for our bed too, just to change things up. Now to figure out the fabric I want to use for the curtains and the curtains I'm going to hang in place of the closet doors.
Aw how fun! I love redecorating :)

I'm glad your back is doing better. I'm jealous you have a big soaker tub though, even if it doesn't have jets! We have the tiniest tub and all I want is a nice, warm, relaxing bubble bath and I can't take one. My legs fit under the water and the rest of me freezes. Not very relaxing!
I hope your hip feels better soon!
Haha...yeah I have given up on the thought of baths. My boobs and belly are far above the water level now. Brrrr! :lafhard:
ikkin510
11-18-2009, 01:08 PM
I do love my tub! LOL. The only negative is that it's the only tub in the house. So giving Ryan a bath in it is rather hard while pregnant. It takes so much water to fill even a little for him and the sides are so tall that it's hard to lean over to wash him. Thankfully Steve enjoys doing bathtime and making a mess with Ryan. So I only have to worry about it the time when he is on night shift or out on a firecall at bathtime.
We ran to walmart this morning to check out a few things. BTW ladies, if you go on to the Gerber website you can print out a few coupons for onsies, sleepers and bedding. I was going to pick up some undershirts for Ryan and new onseies for the baby. Well we were wondering around and Steve has now decided that he wants to just get a futon to put in the nursery/guest room and store the twin bed somewhere else till Ryan is ready for it. Oy. I agree that it woudl look nices and be easier but a duvet cover only costs $25. A futon, even a cheap one at walmart, is $200.

So I was talking to a friend of mine last night and she reminded me just how close I am to the end. We have one week till thanksgiving. Then hunting season starts here and hubby off in the woods for most of 2 weeks. Plus it's christmas decorating time. Then i have 1 1/2 weeks to complete my christmas shopping (yep I'm a last minute person who shops online...LOL) Then it's christmas and new years. Then pack up the christmas stuff and I have 3 weeks till my due date. Um, where has the time gone?
So today I went through 3 boxes of stuff that I could get at and safely lift. I found the recieving blankets, bath towels, burp clothes, rattles and other little baby toys. So I pulled all that stuff out. Saturday Steve said he'd bring down the bins in the storage clothes since I can't get at those. That will have the newborn and small size clothes and all the other things I'll need. Then I'll have plenty of laundry to do over the next few weeks.
The big things, like the pack and play, swing, etc, I won't get out until right after I put the christmas stuff away. That way Ryan has a few weeks to get use to it and I have some time to go through things to make room for them in the living room or where ever they need to go.

Uhg, the horrible hip and back pain is back. I have no clue how I'm going to survive the next 9 weeks or so if I have to keep dealing with this. At this rate I will be skipping thanksgiving with the ILs because the idea of sitting on a metal folding chair all evening is not sounding like a good one. I hurt sitting on the couch or my padded dining room chair.

I can take tylonal but that hasn't been helping at all. I have an appointment on Tuesday and will be bringing this up to see what other advise the doctor has. It will be a very long 9 weeks if not. And my doctor won't even talk induction until you are after 40 weeks or if there is a medicial reason that would require the baby to be born soon. I doubt hip pain would fall under a medicial reason.

Well I've been slowly getting things accomplished here, preparing for the baby. I have most of the baby laundry done as of today, including the newborn and 0-3 months clothes. That's another good thing about having another boy. I already have all the clothes and such and besides buying a few new things I can get a lot done ahead of time.
After the holiday, once the christmas decorations are packed up we'll break out all the baby equiptment (swing, carseat, etc) and set that up. That was we give Ryan some time to adjust to everything.
I have been feeling so sore and tired all the time anymore. I really hope the next few weeks go by quickly. I'm ready to mee this little guy and be done with being pregnant. But I'm trying to enjoy the little time with just the 3 of us now while I can!
