I'm getting married Memorial day weekend 2006. My favorite color is pink so my wedding colors are soft pinks and white. I want the entire wedding and reception to look like an explosion of pink and white spring flowers. I have been going over ideas for weeks now and I have decided on the following. Do you all think it is too much or it won't work. What are you all doing?

me - a casacade of magnolias, lily of the valley, spray roses, and sweet peas with shamrocks as greenery. I am having my great grandmothers rosary interwoven so the crystals catch the light. On the ribbons hanging down I am pinning 2 crystal Scottish terrier pins so that my Ruffles and Ellie can "walk" me down the aisle.

maid of honor- a handheld of pink and white peonies ties wrapped in pink satin

maids - a handheld of pink and white peonies, spray roses, fressia, hydrangea, and sweet peas wrapped in white satin

flowergirls - pommanders of pink hydrangea and hair wreaths of roses and sweet peas with pink ribbon hanging down their backs

My fiance will be wearing lily of the valley with shamrocks (he's Irish and a proud graduate of Notre Dame). His best man will be wearing a pink sweet pea with a shamrock while the other groomsmen wear just a pink sweetpea. His father and grandfather will have pink spray roses and shamrocks as well. My father will have a pink spray rose and lily of the valley.

Our mothers will have pinkand white roses and lily of the valley with pink satin ribbon woven through. Our grandmothers and my stepmother will have just pink and white spray roses and thin pink satin ribbon. My stepfather and grandfather will just have the pinkand white spray roses too.

The deocrations are all going to be mixtures of soft pink and white spring flowers with the centerpieces having tall white candles surrounded by circular arraingments of the flowers. On our sweet heart table I am having the centerpieces and chiar decorations match my bouquet.

Finally, the cake is going to have a soft pink fondant icing with lily of the valley piped onto it. On the top I am having a crystal basket full of lily of the valley and shamrocks.

Do you think I have too many different kinds of flowers? I have chosen most because of their special significance to us personally.

I think it sounds perfect. You have obviously put a lot of time into this and I love that everything is chosen both for color and meaning. The flowers meanings will last longer then the day and that is what you want to look back on. Of course, flowers are my week spot- I am far from an expert.

I think it sounds amazing! Like everyone has told me, this is your day so do whatever you want. Don't worry if it 'looks' right, as long as you and your fiance are happy, everyone else will be too!

Thanks ladies. My only fear is that the bridesmaids dresses will absorb the bouquets if I just do them in plain pale pink and white. So I am either going to do some varying shades of pink or have the florist tuck in some shamrocks and green Queen Anne's lace just os the girls aren't blobs of pale pinks and white.

Have you thought about putting some green trim all around the bouquets? (like leaves or some kind of greenery.) It will help bring the flowers out of the dress, kind of thing.

Monochromatic color schemes can be really amazing. The textures will be highlighted which is a good thing. Only those who are half blind will see blobs of color.

I think it sounds absolutely lovely, but one thing to think about is hardiness. Lillies of the valley have a tendency to wilt. Run it by a florist and see what they think.

Wow! You have really made me reconsider my flower arrangements!
No, I'm just kidding - I think you did a great job considering all the factors. You were very precise and I think your flowers will look lovely.
I'm not much of a flower person myself, so the bridesmaids will have a single orchid wristlet, the junior bridesmaids will carry flowerballs and the matron of honor will have a smaller version of my bouquet, orchids with pink tips.
My colors are platinum and pink - I do love the peonies, so I'm trying to decide between them and the orchids.

GOOD LUCK!

I fianlly met with a booked a florist for the wedding ceremony. I am waiting to hear back for reception florists yet. As for the ceremony, I am carrying pale pink peonies with lily of the valley and stephanotis. My FH's bout will be lily of the valley and stephanotis. The girls are carrying pale pink and white sweat peas and spray roses with white mini callas. The BM is wearing a mini calla and the ushers a white sweet pea. The parents are getting coursages and bouts of stephanotis while the grandparetns get white spray roses. The church is being decorated with all white flowers as well. I'll get back to you all when I get the reception finalized.
