Themed thread: Everyone please read

Someone had mentioned the idea of having a weekly theme where everyone would look up stuff and post ideas and pictures of that theme. Then when someone wanted some ideas they could use that page as a reference. I think it would be a good starting point for brides just beginning to plan their weddings. I have some ideas on how to set this up and if it is okay with everyone I wouldn't mind getting it all together and corodinating it.

Before I could start this I would need to know that I would have enough people to committ to posting a couple of pictures or ideas each week for the weekly theme. I plan on listing a few themes below and seeing what kind of response I get from them. You can also add some. Then I am going to set up a poll with some of the top themes. I will committ to 4 weeks worth of themes. If all goes well after 4 weeks I will continue and we can do more themes.

Please tell me what you think. The themes I can think of are listed below.

Fall/Harvest
Fall/Halloween
Winter
Beach
Old Hollywood
Calla Lilly
Rose
Victorian
50's/60's
Precious Moments
Valentines
Western
New Year's
African
St. Patrick's Day
USA (red, white, and blue colors)
Black and White formal

Feel free to suggest more and give feedback on the ones you like the best from my suggestions and from others. I can only have 10 in the poll!

I've never heard of a disco theme, but it could be done. Just another suggestion.

Yeah it was me who mentioned it, I think it is a great idea and can help alot of people out or at least give them idea's. The only other themes I can think of are ...

I have a suggestion.....rather than doing a theme each week, why don't we make a thread for each theme and anyone who wants to can look for things related to that theme whenever they want and we'll just keep the thread going. I have seen this done on another board and I think it will help brides out more than having all the different themes in one thread. Also in addition to themes like Kacie listed we could do threads for each color too.

I have a star theme and the thread I had on a different board (as bnd mentioned) was very helpful. I agree that each theme should have it's own thread for easy reference.

We can do a poll and see the response between a weekly theme or a thread for each theme. If we did the weekly theme it would always be there so it can always be quickly referenced. In my opionion I think if we had just had a thread for each theme randomly done some of them would get neglected. If we had a weekly one then everyone would post for this one theme each week. They would not ever go away. However, I will put together a poll and see how everyone else feels on the subject. I'll let this thread run a little while longer and then I'll set up the poll.

I think both ideas sound good!!! Maybe we could combine the ideas...like each week you could start a thread with a new theme, so that they will be easy to find, but each get a week's worth of attention.

Example:

Week 1 Theme: Country
Week 2 Theme: Disco
etc.

I understand what you mean. That would get confusing! So I guess we do not need to do a poll on how it will be set up, just what theme we will start with!

Okay I am going over to to poll section and I am going to add the poll. I will let the poll run until tomorrow at 5 PM. Hopefully everyone who is interested will have time to vote before then. I am going to pick 10 themes for everyone to vote from. I am using suggestions posted here and I am using some themes from some of the weddings on this board. If I do not get a theme you are interested in, suggest it and on the next poll I will add it for a vote. I will explain more on the poll thread. It will be titled Weekly Theme Poll. Kacie, this is a great idea! I think the big themes are fall, black and white and western. At least that's what I can think of right now. I know there are lots of other, but we have a lot of brides here with those ideas

I like the idea of just having a thread for each theme. This way as we fidn things we can post them. I know when I was looking for things for my wedding I would come across something I thought some one else might like. I dont know about you all but I cant save a ton of photos on my pc ( I have way to many as it is ) just waiting for that theme week to come around.

If we have the different threads that are always there we can add as we go. And with some of us already married we are not looking for things for ourselves any more so we would most likely fill these up fast for you all.

But what ever way you all decide to do it it is still a good idea. I like it.

I know this has already been decided on but I'm worried if we only do one theme a month that alot of brides will have already had their weddings and won't get to see their theme done. Ah dur! Yes you are right I meant a week:bblol: I must have been thinking about Elizabeth. I had just read that her wedding is in a month and I have found some beautiful butterfly stuff but I don't want to start a whole bunch of theme threads cause I don't want to upset anyone.

I wanted to mention that Kacie had asked if anyone would volunteer to start a theme thread and just go with it. So I volunteered for the Irish Culture Theme. I'm done with it, so anyone, who would like to, can go ahead and add Irish themed pictures to it.

Your Irish theme site looks great Karen! Remember guys tomorrow we start the weekly theme number 2 as well. Tomorrow begins the beach theme! Anyone who wants to do a themed thread should by all means do one. The weekly themed thread seeme to do good so I think I'll carry it on another week at least.
