I'd been feeling a bit burnt out on wedding stuff lately, and stopped to figure out what we'd done so far. Since March, NotFroofy and I have done the following:
Built and decorated the chuppah (Jewish wedding canopy)
Drafted our own ceremony and got it approved by the rabbi
Made programs
Picked out all the music for the ceremony
Found a ketubah (Jewish marriage contract) text we liked, gotten permission from the copyright owner to use it, and found an artist to make the ketubah with that text.
Found a friend to videotape the ceremony, and acquired digital voice recorders for everyone who will be speaking at the ceremony (which is pretty much everyone who will be attending)
Made and sent two different sets of invitations (one for MA and one for DC), getting them postmarked from Bridal Veil, OR
Arranged for accommodations for everyone attending the ceremony
Picked out our dresses, and had all three fittings
Picked out all our jewelry, veils, tiaras, undergarments, shoes, and rings
Created mustaches on a stick for our DIY "photobooth"
Picked out all the other props for the DIY "photobooth"
Picked out all the favors for the photos to go into
Acquired a printer for the DIY "photobooth"
Found the first few volunteers to man the DIY "photobooth"
Compared photo sharing sites and picked one, then designed our photo sharing cards, and sent them off to VistaPrint to be printed
Bought all our table linens, chair covers, cloth dinner napkins, napkin holders, plates, flatware, glasses (drinking and champagne), coffee/tea cups, punch bowls, a cake serving set, serving trays, cake stands, cake boxes, paper cocktail napkins, and toasting glasses
Bought and decorated our card box
Bought dancing shoes, and made a basket for them
Bought a chocolate fountain, chocolate, and some crystals to make the chocolate thin enough to go through the fountain
Tested out recipes for both alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages for the wedding
Tested out cake recipes
Had two consultations on our reception menu for the reception back in DC, which is still not done
Bought spotlights and gels for uplighting, and made the stands for them
Bought 77 paper lanterns, and batteries, LEDs, Stick-Up bulbs, and Stick N Click lights for them. Installed all the batteries in the lights
Bought all the components for our centerpieces and done mock-ups
Bought a ceiling swag and fairy lights to decorate it
Created bar menus, and cut out the frames for the food menus. (We can't finish the food menus until the food is finalized.)
Designed two different websites for our guests (one for MA guests and one for DC guests)
Created two sites with wedding maps, one for MA guests and one for DC guests
Created miscellaneous signsWe still have a few projects left to finish: the CD of wedding music, a description of the traditional Welsh love spoon that will be our cake topper, speech and thought bubbles for the "photobooth." However, I'm thinking it might be a really good idea if we stopped thinking up new projects for ourselves.
