Which ones are supposed to be the worst?
I just went outside to look at my strawberries, and I noticed a poke on my toe... I looked down, and it was a huge wasp. It got me. It hardly hurts (knock on wood). I'm shocked because I would think the bigger ones would hurt more. I've been stung twice by the smaller regular bees, and those hurt so much more for way longer. So I'm kinda baffled, though I am also very glad that this sting doesn't hurt more!

Huh, I have no idea! I'm just glad you're ok and not allergic or anything! :)

I think it is more of if you are sensitive to it; some people are fine with stings and some people have various allergic reactions to them.
I would clean it and remove the stinger if it was left behind. Use ice to help with swelling and just keep an eye on it. You can use some Benadryl cream for itch and pain too.
I've learned that bees (like honeybees) hurt the worst and I have the worst swelling reaction from them. If it was a wasp that got you and it doesn't hurt real bad, it's most likely it only bit you, rather than injecting the poison. It's the poison that hurts soooooo bad from a bee sting or wasp sting. I have had my fair share of wasp bites/stings & bee stings (well over 50 in my 24 years lol). I am glad you're not hurting real bad and I hope it doesn't start hurting bad!
Oh yeah, but like Brandi said - every one reacts differently to different types of bees/wasps and their poisons.

Hmmm... It must've just bit me. It was able to fly away afterward.. don't they usually die when they sting?

You are lucky. I had a bee bite me on my hand about a month ago and it looked like a cartoon hand. It stayed swolen for over a week. The thing was crazy because it got in my hair and would not get out. After it stung me another one came after me...think it might be those killer bees:bbmad: I would have liked to have been watching the entire thing because I was jumping up and down yelling...my neighbors must have thought I was crazy!!

Bees do, but wasps don't. Bees have barbs on their stingers that mean the poison sack pulls out of their body - thus killing them. Wasps and hornets on the other hand, have smooth stingers - they can sting as much as they want.
I have no idea why it's different, but it is.

People are worried about Sever allergies. If you have reason to be alarmed you can get a blood test done for a specific allergen. If you have been stung once and it really swelled up for a long time (a month or more) than go get tested.
