In the Savvy Blog today there was a post mentioning grills (http://www.onewed.com/blog/savvy-scoop/2009/08/27/amazon-wedding-registry-tip-grills).
We didn't register, but we actually got a George Foreman grill/skillet combo thing as a wedding gift; still have it 4 years later ;)
Another user on the blog mentioned ice cream as one of the things she enjoyed about summer and then I thought, oooh, an ice cream maker would be a cool (no pun intended) gift to register for too!
So do you guys have any cool non-traditional gift registry ideas? Anything unique that you registered for yourself?

FH n I were toying w/the idea of registering for a Wii... one of those things we want SOOO bad but wouldn't buy for ourselves LOL
I'm sure a lot of the things on our registry will be towards the non-traditional side b/c we don't really need a lot of things... tho I may just register for upgrades of some of what we have now... like pots n pans, nice sheets and towels etc.

We registered for a Wii and a TV. The TV was just on there so we'd get the discount after the wedding (but it turned out that we didn't need it; his parents got us one that was even better than the one we registered for). We thought of adding movies to it, but we couldn't find any that we wanted. (Target's in-store selection really isn't that great.) We also had board games and Bocce Ball on there. Other than that, we stuck with traditional stuff.

Our registry had pretty traditional items on it I guess basically because we've lived together since we were poor college students and we wanted to upgrade our linens, silverware etc.
I was actually quite disappointed with the lack of people that didn't use our registry after putting some much time and effort into it. It was at Sears and items could easily be bought online. Or if they didn't want to get it from Sears then buy an equivalent items elsewhere but people just didnt do that.
I was also frustrated by the fact that our regsitry had our room colors and yet people bought items that didn't match our color scheme plus weren't an item on the registry.

We have an Oster nail grinder (for trimming our dog's claws) on ours. Mind you, no one has actually bought anything off our registry yet.

I love these ideas! We are going to do our registry in the next couple of months and I always think so traditional, but why not register for the fun things you wouldn't necessarily buy for yourself? I went to a shower a couple years ago, where they registered and got a couple of themed chairs that were of their favorite sports team. NEat! :flopsy:

We pretty much registered for all non-traditional gifts! If you use an online registry website you can add things from any store you want. My husband registered for a bunch of stuff at home depot to help fix up the house we bought right before the wedding and I even registered at my nail salon for mani/pedis (I ended up getting enough certificates to last me 4 months)! If you feel weird asking people for non-traditional things you can always do a cash gift registry. We put one of those on our registry too, but I think there are also websites just for the cash registry. Don't be scared to think outside of the box and HAVE FUN!! :yesnod:
