DH forwarded me an email from a friend of his whom I've never met, and the guy apologized for missing our wedding, and said he wants to meet me, so he's asked if he can take us out to dinner while he's in town this week. It was just so nice.. he didn't seem like he felt obligated or anything, but just that it was something he really wanted to do. In fact, I think he even said "I really want to do this" and to please let him know when we can make it.

All of DH's friends that I know are really good people and it makes me feel really happy to know that my husband has a network of great friends. I'm looking forward to this dinner... but I am SO shy and really socially awkward, so I'm hoping I don't look like a doofus. It's like I want DH's friends to be as impressed by his wife as I am by them! I'm going to try not to put a lot of pressure on myself, though. It should be fun. I just can't get over how nice of a gesture it was of him to ask us.

Awww, that's so sweet of him!

Doesn't it reinforce in your mind that you've got a gem when all the people who've gravitated towards him and stayed friends with him are awesome people too? :)

Isn't it awesome that your DH has good friends? I gotta say the same. My DH has some awesome friends that I feel honored to know. They've slowly worked me into their circle and I love it. Just remember - they know that you're there for good. You're going to be a part of their circle - if you're not already. You don't have to feel like a doofus around good friends :)

ETA: Sorry that went off topic. I think that's great that your hubby's friend is offering to take you guys out for dinner. Just relax and go with the flow. :)
