Considering having wedding invitations handmade

Would you prefer handmade wedding invitations over mass produced?

would you pay more for them?

I would prefer them, but wouldn't pay more, just because it is not one of the areas of major concern, plus everyone loves my invites just the way they are!!!

I would prefer them, yes, but it's not that I wouldn't pay more, it's more like I can't pay more.

We made our invites, rsvp cards, a map, plus a card with hotel, attraction & Montreal tourist info .... I figure that we did it rather inexpensively.

Dollar store embellishments $2
Embossed Velum - $5
Glue stick - $?
Hot glue sticks - $?
Ribbon - $4
All card stock that we could ever need and more (in three different sizes) plus envelopes in two different sizes - we traded with a bride for a signature platter (her FH works for a paper company)
Home computer printing - $?????

I guess I prefer them because I made them myself.... paid a whole lot less because I had a friend who works in a print shop print them for free. :)

I guess I would prefer them but I cant see myself paying more for them. I like the invitations that I have selected and I'm sure everyone else will too!

Just wanted to add that when I was married the first time (1988) ... it cost a heck of a lot more because no one made hand made invitations back then. It was a case of trying to find the most inexpensive (but pretty) invites out of a book.

I made my own so i guess this is what i preferred. haha. i enjoyed doing it as well. it was time consuming but i felt worth it. I done a lot of the wedding things myself. To me it made it that much more special.

I made all my own invitations, responds cards, programs, thank you cards, place cards, menu cards seating chart. so on so forth. It was super easy since i am a graphic designer, which also ment that i had good sources for inexpensive printing. :D
I totally loved it and want to do it again. Thinking about going into business doing wedding invites and collateral.

We didn't send out invitations, we put an announcement in 3 papers (where my folks live, where we live, and the town where I used to live)...then I handed out homemade "reminders" to our Ranch Horse Association friends and that was it!

Cheap, Easy and one less thing I had to "DIY"...:bbconfused:

I made accomodations for up to 200 at the wedding and 150 at the formal reception the more the merrier... I could care less!

We hand made our invitations, response cards, programs, everything like that. It ended up being cheaper then ordering. IMOH, I think hand made are just as nice. I honsetly like our much better then a lot of the ones we could have ordered.
