I know the overwhelming majority of weddings are on Saturday. However, I just wanted to see what other days people on Onewed are getting married. Amber and Angel inspired this by the way.

My wedding is on a Saturday. I picked it for the typical reason, it's Saturday and that's when things happen.

Please explain why you decided to get married on a different day of the week if you are.

We did a Saturday because we had a lot of people traveling in from around the country. So they needed Friday to do that. Also, we live in a metro area and trying to get anything done on a Friday night would have been a mess. Also, we opted to get married over a holiday weekend (Memorial Day). This gave our guests Sunday to travel home after the wedding and then they still had that Monday off to get things in order from being out of town.

Ours is a holiday weekend as well. December 30th is Saturday and then Sunday is the 31st. Of course Monday is January 1st and everyone will be off of work on Monday too.

Our wedding is the Friday after Thanksgiving. We originally wanted that Saturday, but by the time Dan got off his butt and agreed to the location, it was booked for Saturday. Friday works well anyway because there's that handy 20% discount! It also works because I can't take too much time off from work. As it is I'm taking Monday and Tuesday that week and already have off Wednesday through Friday. Then I will take off the following Monday and Tuesday. We fly back to FL from PA on Monday and I figure I needed a day to get settled at home before going back to work.

Mine was on a Saturday. Made it easier for where I was having it. We had it back home where I grew up which is about 6 to 7 hours away. We also made it for 4 in the afternoon for any one traveling that day. We drove up Thursday and most who were there went back on Sunday.

I can't help but feel a closeness to you now Lizabeth. And the ride to Bangor isnt so bad. But the girl who did my cake drove from here in NH , got there just before the ceremony and left and drove back after all was done. I do that drive enough. Twice in one day is not for me.

Saturday is unfortunately the only day of the week our church would let us have the ceremony because of services going on. I am kinda glad though because more people can share our day and wont have to take off from work.

Oh my ..... one of our reasons for getting married on a Friday isn't very nice.

We wanted a small wedding but that said, i have 4 older brothers, 4 sister inlaws and a multitude of adult nephews and neices. Each one of these neices and nephews has a boyfriend or girlfriend. If everyone were to come to our wedding, we would end up with something that was bigger than what we really wanted. That said, I didn't want to exclude anyone from the list either so .... we thought that if we were to get married on a Friday night that some of the younger people wouldn't be able to come because of work LOL

As it is .... we are currently recruiting people to be adopted by Hugh so that there will be at least some people on his side of the church LOL

Also, if we were to have to rent a venue, we knew it would cost less on a Friday as opposed to a Sat.

Also, Hugh's birthday is on the Sat. and we didn't want our wedding to toally over shadow his birthday.

Also, most everyone is coming from out of town and so I thought that a Friday night wedding would also give them a chance to explore Montreal the next day if they wanted to.

LOL the way I see it .... the fewer people that can make it, the better the food is going to be! (I am so bad)

I think that too! The less people we have, the less money we have to dish out on food!

Saturday, just because it's the easiest for people who have to travel.... I thought about doing Sunday because it would be easier to set my own time, but FMIL would have been offended, I think.

OMG Karen, I am so freaking excited!

My mom and my FMIL are out dress shopping for the MOG dress and they have spent the last 2 days buying roses and ivy to re-pot for decorations. I never had any idea how many real flowers my FMIL was wanting to decorate with...I need to take a pic of them and post tomorrow! They are gorgeous.

I have everything done except for a few small details. I got moved and Eric has been moving his things into the house before he goes into work (he works 2nd shift) so when I get home at night I find his clothes and stuff in the house and I spend time washing and hanging and organizing I LOVE IT, I feel so MARTHA STEWART!

I also baked him homemade sugar cookies and left them on the kitchen table this morning...I can't wait to marry that man and take care of him!

THANKS FOR ASKING...I'm GIDDY can you tell???:bbmrgreen:

Glad to hear that maybe the floating feeling will come back... I used to feel that, and I still do now and then, but mostly there's too much weight on my shoulders to float... looking forward to being where you are Cowboysbride.

*ps - can't believe I'm the only Sunday bride so far!

It'll come back, the girls here can testify for me that I was stressed beyond stressed just last week! Once things get accomplished and/or you relinquish some of the responsibilities (that was my problem, I wanted perfection and thought I would be the only one who could attain it) you will start to feel better!

Float on up here with me!

I thought about Sunday but because of out of towners coming in and most of our guests have horses and farms to tend Saturday worked out better for us!

We originally picked the 'right sounding' day which was June 20th, a Tuesday. The start of the work week just didn't suit everyone (I didn't mind) so we changed it to the saturday before, june 17th.
