What an exciting day! I had my first ultra sound and got to see the little bean and its heart beat! (140 bpm)

They are now saying that I am 7 weeks and 1 day pregnant with my due date at 4/4/10. Previously they said i was 8 weeks due 3/28.

So far, all is good! No morning sickness or anything KNOCK ON WOOD! I am starting to get my appetite back and have really been watching what i am eating (lots of fresh fruit!) and haven't had any caffeine in about 3 weeks or so.

So, all in all, doing really good and it is fun to tell our family and friends.

However, I had 2 people (1 being my cousin and the 2nd being an old friend from grade school) say kinda odd things to me. My cousin said "Was this planned"...Umm, I am 36 not 17 of course it was planned! And the friend asked "why now?" Just because I am 36. I didn't realize there was a time frame on when people were ready! She was like 30 or something when she had her son..what's a few years? Oh well.

It's a happy day!

It's weird, the things people say sometimes! :petrified: I've noticed, and read about (think Dear Abby like columns...) that a lot of times people have odd reactions when people say they're pregnant. Just bizarre.

But we're excited for you! How exciting getting to have your first ultrasound! Nice you aren't having any morning sickness. Fingers crossed it'll stay that way! :bbmrgreen:

Some people just dont have any tact. Just wait until strangers walk up and put their hands on your stomach!

Just ignore those weird comments and enjoy your pregnancy. You will get plenty more. Most comments like that tell you about the person saying them..its not about you.

Congrats and my wishes for a healthy pregnancy for you!!

Awesome!!! That's so exciting! I bet hearing the heartbeat really made it feel real for you.

Not to be a buzzkill, but be careful with the fresh fruit...

My friend is pregnant and has been eating super healthy - fresh fruit galore! Imagine her surprise when she found out she got gestational diabetes from eating too much fruit!

The heart beat was so cool! It did make it more real.

Thanks for the heads up on fresh fruit! I usually eat a nectarine or something in the morning, a handful of grapes in the afternoon as my snack. Not going over board on it or anything....I went thru the watermelon/cantalope/honeydew stage already. :)

LOVE, LOVE LOVe (did I say Love?) those names!

He likes Sara for a girl (I have a cousin named that, so its out) but he said if we picked Sara, I could get Olivia for the middle name.

But, I love the name Kate (until he mentioned John & Kate plus 8).

But, we have had the boy name picked out FOREVER.... Jack Houston H.

His grandfathers middle name was Houston....and we just like it!

I haven't had too many people say dumb things, but the one that really sticks out is when I told a co-worker I was PG (she worked at our facility in MI) and she congratulated me and asked when I was due. I responded, "Thanksgiving" and she said, "Wow. You look like your farther along than that." I had JUST MET HER!!! I couldn't believe she said that.

My mother, upon learning I was laid off, told me to "act fat" on interviews. How does one actually do that?!? And to make me feel better, she told me their department hired a girl 6 months pregnant, "But she wasn't nearly as big as you are." I love you, too, Mom!

Excuse me, I have to pick up my mouth.

People just don't think. My thing with my cousin really bugs me. I have been nothing but nice to her and for her to say that comment just irks me. We were "kinda" close when we were younger when we would go up north when we were kids to see them during the summer. But her mother has never done anything for me, ex: confirmation, graduation, or anything. But when my sister does anything, she is always right there. So last year, I bought her other daughter who just had a baby a really nice gift, and overnighted it to her while I knew my aunt was staying with her just so she could see that I am a thoughtful person! I told my mom, at my baby shower (which i think we are going to do after the baby is born so people back in MI can see it) that I don't want my aunt/cousin there. If they were invited they wouldn't show up, if they weren't invited, you'd hear about it.

Gotta love family!

So, I get a call about a week or so ago from my dr.'s office to reschedule my follow-up appt as my dr. has a family emergency. Ok, done, made it with another dr. for next Thursday.

YESTERDAY, I get a call, that I need to change appointments as that dr I reschedule with has surgery, could I come in later? I said, well do you have anything earlier in the week with another dr? They said No, they are taking all of Dr. (my dr's patients) as he had passed away! I am so floored! He was such a nice person, soft spoken and you just felt comfortable around him. He was only 51! I asked what happend and they said the family wants to keep it private and nothing was mentioned in his obituary. This is just so sad! :(

Well, I had my dr. appt today to go over blood work and the ultra sound. They said everything looks good...see you in 4 weeks! lol

I didn't get to hear the heartbeat today, but she said every visit here on out I will. Which will be cool! I can't wait to hear it again.

On a sad note, my dr., the one who passed away had an Aneurysm and a couple of heart attacks. That is just so sad. :( Again, he was just an all around nice person easy to talk to.

Well I am 11 weeks today! i noticed that my clothes are getting a little uncomfortable! Looks like i will have to do some shopping this week! I don't mind buying the maternity shirts but the maternity pants scare me for some reason. I am looking to buy a bella band so I can wear my own pants...until that is no longer an option.

This coming Saturday, my town is having a mothers club..they are selling used/new baby items...I am going to take a peak and see what deals I can get.

Next month I will be in Michigan and will be picking up the crib....its my sister's that she is letting me have...in perfect condition that will later convert to a toddler bed. (Her kids out grew it). I have been looking on line..and so far I like this bedding set...

http://www3.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6E.aspx?DeptID=62438&CatID=62728&GrpTyp=ENS&ItemID=1460ab1&attrtype=&attrvalue=&CMID=62438%7c62644%7c62645&Fltr=&Srt=&QL=F&IND=7&cmVirtualCat=&CmCatId=62438|62644|62645|62728

But I would like to see it in person...i read reviews that it has a "yellow" tone to it. But I still like it. :)

If you dont make sure you go to the dr soon. When I was about 5 months along I got a cold...ended up in the hospital with double pneumonia. I am typically helathy so I dont know how that happened... It was more annoying than anything to be stuck in bed, the baby was fine. ;)

Well, I actually ventured out this weekend..I bought a couple maternity tops...a very cute 3/4 sleeve grey sweater at JCPenny...its grey and has 3 buttons at the top and the rest is open obviously wear a shirt under it)..but its something I can wear after being pregnant and then I bought a black 3/4 shirt at Kohl's. I was very surprised on the items they even had...let's just say NOT very much of a selection at either place! Some of the colors were jewel tones (teal and such) that I don't wear anyways, or pretty much all grey like t-shirt material.

I am going to look at Old Navy as well.

Today I went to work, I still have my head cold, but other than that I am doing alot better than I was 4 days ago!

I was out looking at maternity clothes on Friday at a few places and was really disappointed in the selections they all had. I don't get it. It seems like the only place to find decent maternity clothes anymore are actually specialty store like motherhood.

I went to an outlet mall near my house..and they had clothes on clearance...get this..a shirt for $40..that was the clearance price! I think not.

Plus I went to a local dept store a few weeks ago, I had to ask where the maternity dept even was...they said they no longer carry maternity clothes as there vendor is no longer in business. Umm, find another one? There are still pregnant people!!!

Glad you're feeling better Dani!

Well I had my monthly check up today, as was told by the dr to not eat so much! I gained 5 pounds since my last visit! (But between the last visit and 2 visits ago, I didn't gain anything!) I got to hear the heartbeat which was nice.

Bummer thing is, I thought i was going in for blood work to check on Down sydrome and spinal deformaties and they said they don't do blood work in the office. (Again, that's what i thought I was getting done today!) So, I went to Quest Diagnostics signed in, and there was a kid with a surgical mask on, God only knows what he has, standing there. So I wait, wait wait, my name gets called and I go up give them my paperwork and they said Quest closes at 4! It's in the hospital, come on! So, tomorrow after work I have to run and get the blood work done. What a bummer.

Good thing is, in 4 weeks I will see the baby on the ultrasound and HOPEFULLY (knock on wood its cooperating) that we can see what the sex is!

Oh, I wish I knew this before getting pregnant so it wouldn't be such a surprise...what the heck is with the stabbing pains in the boobs? OUCH! (Yes, I know what it is, but still...OUCH!)

I think its a boy...I have told everyone at work since I found out that I believe its a boy.

I have had no food adversions, no morning sickness, carrying low, no cravings. (Could I get any luckier?)

Ok, less than 2 weeks till we find out. I am just so excited! My mom and dad are coming out here for Thanksgiivng and I am hoping to have her help with my registry.

So, far I have been feeling really good, though Saturday I woke up and was in a little pain due to the round ligaments stretching...just had to "walk it off" then I felt better.

21 more weeks to go!

They told me to call back next Wednesday to schedule something, that they weren't taking appointments at this time. Again, I could scream or cry...maybe both.

Today I met with my new doctor to go over the ultra sound that I had on Monday and all I can say is that I love the new facility and doctor that I have! He is so nice as is the rest of his staff! He said everything looks great and I am measuring just right. Jack's little heart beat was 150 BPM.

I called the dr office before my appointment to see if they had gotten my old records sent over from my old doctor, as of yet they had not. So I called the old dr's office, and guess what!?!?! They closed the doors and the answering machine says that they are not making any appointments and to find a new doctor! lol But it did say to leave a message on where to send your records too, so I did that. But man, I wonder what happened with that office! I feel sorry for people that are on the brink of giving birth and wondering what they are going to do! At least I found a new place that I am happy with, cause last Wednesday is the day the old dr's office wanted me to call back and schedule my ultra sound...doesn't look like it would have been for this week either with that track record!

I think it's more of a "we're going to charge you for our time, ink and paper" type of thing. I mean, if you're requesting your records several times a year or something like that, then I can see them charging you. But it seems this is the first time you've asked for them - they shouldn't charge you.

never mind i lied:

The practitioner shall be reimbursed by the person requesting such records at the time of such copying, for all reasonable expenses, including the costs of independent copy service companies, incurred by the practitioner in connection with such copying not to exceed:

a $22.28 handling charge for processing the request for copies
$0.84 cents per page for the first through 25th pages
$0.56 cents per page for the 26th through 50th pages
$0.28 cents per page for all pages in excess of 50
the charge shall not exceed $1.39 per page for any copies made from microfiche or microfilm
and actual shipping costs These rates shall be automatically adjusted as set forth in Section 8-2006. The physician or other practitioner may, however, charge for the reasonable cost of all duplication of record material or information that cannot routinely be copied or duplicated on a standard commercial photocopy machine such as x- ray films or pictures.

That's bull cr@p!!! I can't believe they are charging YOU for the records that need to be sent to your new doctor because THEY closed the doors on you without any warning. I guess if that is how they run their business, I guess I can't say I'm surprised they can't keep the place open.

Get this! Today I accidently left my cell phone in my truck, when I figured that out I went outside to get it, there was a voice mail from my old dr. They are going to charge me $60 for my records! i was floored, needless to say, I left a message for them to return my call...we'll see what happens from here..if it wasn't for them closing shop I wouldn't need them (well, they don't know I was looking for another dr, but that's not the point...lol) :)

OMG. Thats so MESSED UP!!! I hope you can get your files without getting charged! Specially $60!!!!! :realmad:

I left the girl a message to call me back, haven't heard anything back yet. I wanted a copy of my records for myself as well, so just incase this happens i would have my own file. She never once mentioned about sending them to my new doctor..as of yesterday they didn't receive them, and all the paper work, there voice mail and website says nothing about charging for making copies.

All my new doctor wanted was the pre-natel information...but i have had surgeries and such that I wanted on record.

Last night was fun, we went Christmas shopping and were looking at baby clothes..I bought a little onsies that says AC/DC on it....its so cute! (My husband is a HUGE fan), we were laughing all night.

Well, we just got home from our Christmas trip to Michigan and Buffalo last night. We had a really good time visiting everyone.

We did receive alot of baby stuff which I was extremly happy about.

We ended up doing a dog rescue on our way home, one of my friends from Agility School was looking for a transporter to p/u a gordon setter who was 12 years old (the owner passed away a couple of weeks ago), so we brought her from Buffalo to Chicago, she was a really sweet dog and is going to a great home.

On another note, on Christmas Day, my nutty sister in law (whom I haven't seen in about 2 years) walks in and told me that I am huge! She said she wasn't that big when she was pregnant w/ my neice (19 years ago!). I said, Uh, my doctor says I am right on track ...then she asked me how far along I am! (SHe's nuts I say, nuts!) (And a Merry Christmas to you too!)

WEll, I am 27 weeks today...and boy oh boy, the little guy is wearing me out!

It doesn't take much for me to get tired or a sore back nowadays! Tomorrow is my first day back to work in 2 weeks, sorta looking forward to it..sorta not..with the month end/year end stuff, plus we have a HUGE project that is coming up in the spring that requires alot of background checking on our field employees, try wrangling up 22 people whom you never see and see if you can hit the January 15 deadline..this is going to be a challange..good thing I will have a little bit of help on this. I will be glad when its over though.

We went shopping today to look at strollers and pack n play's..that can be very over whelming! I have no idea what I am actually looking at..plus with clothes and stuff...not sure how much/sizes to buy, any help is greatly appreciated!

Here is a picture of Jack's baby bib we got from the in-laws for Christmas...it is so cute!...

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll61/dani073/DSC00344-1.jpg

I will try and see if Doug will take a belly picture of me...I feel like a cow right now! Mooo!

Heywie
01-04-2010, 12:12 AM
LOL, you crack me up!

I was also overwhelmed by all the options when registering, but I think I'm finally getting more comfortable with it! My brother just had a baby and they got the Graco Newborn Napper pack n play and they absolutely love it. They put their daughter in the napper and they turn on the vibrator and she just sleeps away! I liked other patterns more, but the fact that they love it so much made me choose it for my registry too!

As for clothing, I have been advised not to bother registering for clothes, aside from a few packages of onesies. Many of the stores you will register at will change their clothing seasonally and your friends/family won't be able to find the right items you wanted. Also, people love to buy clothes and will just buy things they think are cute without your input!

KMS

I'm going to look into that Pack n Play you mentioned, Haley! Somebody posted a list of things to register for that they had compiled in another journal. Was it Nikki? Yeah, I heard the same thing about registering for clothes.

We registered like a month ago and were so overwhelmed. We left the store not feeling very confident in our choices. That's when I started researching and made a list of everything that we needed. I went through a Babies R Us registry guide and tailored it to our needs. We went back yesterday and just erased everything we had previously done and started over. I had my list with me and we felt so much more organized and knowledgeable. It was such a difference from the first time!

We registered for a simpler pack n play (unless we change to the one Haley mentioned!). It's a unisex elephant design that's about $70. I didn't think that we needed all of the extra doodads, but I might be wrong! http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3687549

For our stroller, we registered for a Graco one that we could snap our Graco infant carseat into. Then we she's older we can use the stroller without the carseat attached. http://www.target.com/1757975-Spree-Stroller-Brooke/dp/B0020VZ99E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&searchView=grid5&frombrowse=0&node=1038576&keywords=graco%20spree&field_browse=1038576&searchSize=30&id=1757975%20Spree%20Stroller%20Brooke&field_availability=-2&refinementHistory=subjectbin%2Ctarget_com_age%2Cta rget_com_gender-bin%2Ctarget_com_character-bin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&searchNodeID=1038576&field_launch-date=-1y&searchRank=target104545&searchPage=1&field_keywords=graco%20spree. I'm planning on baby wearing so I don't know how often we'll use it, but I think it will be great when we do use it!

The simple pack and play is really all that is a must have. As long as it has the bassinet part (which the one you picked does) it works. The extras are nice but not nessasarly needed.
VERY cute stroller!!
I will have to grab that registry list I posted and make it's own little post for it so others can easily find it if interested.

Thanks for you guy's input! It really is appreciated!

Today, first day back to work....bleah! I was told like I had gained some weight....uh I hope so, i am almost 7 months pregnant! lol

I ended up going to a resale shop for some maternity pants..though i think I bought the ones for when you "just find out and not ready for the panel on the pants"..those darn things feel like they are going to fall off of me when I walk..I will return them this week and get the ones I actually need..until then, its my "un-zippered pants with the bella band". (I hate it when clothes don't feel right!!!!)

All in all i am doing good. I have a dr's appt on Wednesday (and in no way shape or form and I going to look at that scale...there should be a law that you can't weigh a pregnant person after the holidays.) Next week, I am supposed to get the glucose test done..I don't think that I have anything to worry about on that one, at least I hope not. :)

So, today I woke up, went pee and had blood...not alot pale pink..but still. So I called my dr's office this morning went in and had it checked out, I had elevated blood pressure this morning so they sent me to the hospital to be hooked up to a fetal monitor.

Everything is ok, they ran a test on me to see if I was going to go into labor in the next 2 weeks (apparently there is a chemical in your system that would let them know), and I am not. So everything is good, was told to stay home and rest for the remainder of the day.

I am so scared of all the hospital bills that will be coming my way even with insurance! Ugh.
