Rock n' Roll Theme

Hey everyone, we're doing a black & purple classic 70s/80s rock n' roll theme. The question i have is regarding center pieces. I'm not really a flower kind of girl, my boquet and the girls flowers are basically the only ones that i want there. SO, any one have any creative...preferably DIY...ideas for table centerpieces? Our venue WILL allow candles as long as they are in some sort of holder with sides, like floating in a bowl or something...

When I think of the purple and black colors and a rock and roll theme, my mind instantly goes to vinyl records and those footed fountain glasses. Perhaps you could lay down a vinyl record (I'm sure you can get them super cheap) as a sort of platter in the center of the table and then use one of those footed glasses filled with some purple beads and some flowers. And then around the glass you could put tea light candles?

That's just off the top of my head - there are some girls on here who are super good at DIY ideas that I'm sure will come up with something even better. :bbmrgreen:

I googled a little bit - Target has these, it appears you can use them without the base.

For a charity event we did, we used old classic cars, put them on a pedestal with candy around them. It turned out really cute.

I love the idea of using records for centerpieces, maybe this would work they are "record bowls"

Thanks everyone for the ideas, i really like the record bowl idea, that so cool. Another question though, do anyone have any cake topper suggestions? I don't really want a traditional bride and groom or flowers or anything, but i have no idea what to do

I made record bowls for a rock n roll party we threw at work, and they looked awesome, but were hard to turn into centerpieces. We ended up renting LED glowing guitars and flames instead.

As far as cake topper ideas, maybe you could find two guitars or music notes?

Personally I really like the guitar and the other two are a bit pricey. I'll keep looking though.
