Hey, all!
I don't know if I have the energy to make a whole new journal. I guess anyone who wants to know can ask.
I am 32, my fiance is 39. We are getting married at the Disneyland resort in October. We have three children: Dylan (his), Talitha (mine), and Camryn (his). They are 9, 6, and 6. Chris is an independent database consultant and I work in Purchasing for a university.
This week, I got my bridesmaids' dresses ordered. I think. They were closed yesterday and today I left my cell phone at home. The shop said we didn't need to rush them, so I am relieved about that. They are due to arrive October 6-10 and the shop said they would have no problem getting the alterations done. But why does it take 3 months to ship a dress that is not available in custom sizes?
We ended up having to change the little girls' dresses. Altering them to fit the girls would have destroyed the dress we picked. My Mom and I chose a flower girl dress instead. I can't find a pic on Alfred Angelo's site, which makes me wonder if they have that dress. Dammit! What a day to not have my phone. I don't have an office phone (or a long-distance code) at my new job, so I am phoneless. Grrrrrr.
My MOH is supposed to order my invites this week. I talked to her about it over the weekend and emailed her pdf files of the order form. She said when she logged in to my account they were blank. So I fixed them up and sent them to her. That is my anxiety point right now.
Today I have my hair preview. I am asking them to change it till Thursday if they can, because Chris will be out of town and I'd rather be busy when he's away. I have to drive a couple hours to the salon, and my appointment is at 6:30, so I will be home late. However, I am all packed with pictures of me in my dress, my camera, and Becki's beautiful bracelet so I can get hairpins that look nice with it. :D
Something else you won't know if you didn't come over from UW is that Chris and I are trying to have a baby. We just decided off the cuff last week that we were going to go for it. I took three days of pills before we decided, so when I stopped, I got another period over the weekend. I was really bummed because that reset my cycle and I was thinking that the week Chris will be gone with the kids in Colorado was the week I was going to need his, er, help. But, with my trusty fertilityfriend calculator, our dancing days are the 20-22. Sweeeeeeeeeet! I thought we were done for the month.
This weekend I have to order my ring.
I'm hungry and and it's 20 minutes to lunch.
Catch y'all on the flip,
Brooke

Hey! I am glad you are here even if you don't have the energy at the moment to start a new one. It is still great that we can keep up with each other especially since your wedding is so close. I hope things with the hair trial go well and YAY for baby making. ( I am still sprinkling you with baby dust)

Cool, thanks for the visits everyone, and the warm welcome as well.
Hair trial went well. I told her I wanted an updo with a little bit of downfall. We looked at some pictures and I picked one out, and she did it. I love it. I have pics on my site, which I can't link to. Some of you may have that address from before, but if not, maybe I can PM it to you.
Today I need to phone the bridal shop. I got a message on my cell yesterday saying everyone had called in except my superstar BM, who was all about calling on Sunday. But, she was driving from San Diego that day, so I can see how she may have been preoccupied. The shop called in the morning and said they would try me again in the afternoon, but they didn't. I just got the message this morning, since I left my phone at home yesterday.
I also have to phone the BMs and ask if they want their hair done. The hair people (they are called Hair Comes The Bride, hee hee) are anxious about scheduling the day and they need to know who wants make up and who wants hair. I also need to ask my MOH about the invites. Ugh! I want the dresses and invites ordered so I can stop thinking about it.
I should break all these down into separate posts to get to 30 faster!
Cheers,
Brooke

Also, holy mack, I am getting tired of re-reading my posts over and over again to see what word I have used that offends the Junior Member censor. They told me that in addition to URLs and images, certain words are blocked, one of which is something you do with a telephone.
Come on, 30!

Let's get to 16. I can't even paste in my WC stuff because it's getting rejected.

Chris and I met on Match.com. He was living near San Francisco, and I live near Los Angeles. I am, however, from, um, near San Francisco. So, he says of the 400 profiles that came up when he searched Ventura County, mine was the only one he looked at. Awwww.... He flew down to meet me five days after our first email and we had a super weekend hiking, eating, and seeing a movie. He kissed me while we were hiking in a Malibu canyon. He's a super kisser. He was all in love with me, but I was a little freaked out about what I was feeling. Fortunately, that didn't last long. All that happened last January.
Chris has two kids from a previous relationship. His son is 8 and his daughter is 6. I have a 6-year-old daughter from my previous marriage. Our kids are with us every other week. His ex-girlfriend (kids' mom) is Julie and my ex is Bob. I may have to vent about one or both of them sometimes.
Chris moved in with me in June of last year. Woo-hoo! A welcome end to all that driving and flying! In August, Chris took me hiking at the place we went on our first weekend. He had been up and down the trail the whole week before trying to remember the place we had our first kiss. When he thought he'd found it, he planted a little flag alongside the trail that said, "Brooke, is this poison oak?" He aske me that question on our first hike, and when I turned to look at the plant, and then turned back to tell him it was, that's when he kissed me. So we were hiking, and he stopped and pointed off the trail at something, so I got down to look, and saw the flag, and he got down on his knee and ask me to marry him. He was kinda nervous and it was awfully sweet. The he whipped out this gorgeous platinum ring with a 1.21 carat diamond in it. Holy cow! The weight represents the date we first met in person.
So, we are getting married October 21 (21 months after our first date) at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel at the Disneyland Resort. We are having about 90 guests. My bridesmaids are my three best friends. We met in high school. Chris' and my three children will also be attendants in the wedding. Our color is red, as our invitations have Mickey Mouse on them. :-)
Well, that's about all I have for now. Below are links to my wedding site and the secret site where I have pictures of me in my gown. (Gotta hide them from Chris!) You should know that the gown pictures were taken on the fly and that I did not have my hair professionally done for them.

Mwa, ha, ha! MWA, HA HA! Now I can spam to my heart's content! Mwa, ha ha!
Just kidding.
Here's the link to my pictures page. I don't have a snapfish account or anything, and the way my software uploads images does not allow for an image address.

Thanks, Karen!
I want to do hairpins, and I was thinking of making them shaped like little Mickey heads to match the ones in my bouquet. I definitely want to do some red crystal ones, like the bracelet that Becki made, to tie that all together. I was thinking some plain pearl ones mixed in with some Mickey crystal ones. I guess I'd have to make the Mickey ones. This weekend, or maybe Thursday when Chris is gone, I'll pop over to the bead store and see if they have ideas. How do you make a hairpin? Do you hot glue the beads on? Hm.
I was also wondering weather I should even do hairpins, because the style is very loose. but I do want something in there to set it off.
Any ideas?

I think you should do the hairpins in red so it sets off the bracelet and brings the entire thing together. I love the pics from your hair trial! You are getting there!

I think so, too, Deidre.
So here's something entertaining: My MOH is working on ordering my invites, and she says they told her I can't use the word "cocktail" as in "cocktail reception" on my Mickey invitations. Isn't that totally unsurprising? She says I should have a proof on Friday morning. Yay!
Also, my bridal shop called and said the dresses were ordered and we expect them on October 9. Jeez, I'm wondering at what point does the shop need to add a rush charge if less than two weeks before the wedding is not an emergency.
So, things are looking good today. When I get the proof I'll be freely breathing.
Today I've had a Twinkie and m&m's (only part of a bag). I am currently working in the project room for the new database the school bought, learning how to use it. I would like to be helpful, but the other people in my department don't trust me to do anything. The consultant says if they don't want me to do it, they need to send someone over with a laptop to put our vendors into the new system. Haven't seen anyone yet. Meanwhile, I'm posting here.
I'm going to have to swim for an hour to counteract these damn snacks. We have a whole shelf of them.
