I have always heard that it didn't, but then my sister said she heard it could mold and such. So if this is true, could bad chocolate make you sick it you eat it?

I think it stays good if you freeze it... but I'm not sure about otherwise.

Yeah I heard that too.
I had bought some mini candy bars at Aldi and then the chocolate looks dry and whitish ... I ate some and it tasted funny. I think I am gonna throw it all out.

Yeah, I've bought some that has been like that before, too, and I had similar taste results. Throwing it out sounds like a good idea to me!

apparently, as i was told, if chocolate is white, it is indeed bad(unless it IS white ;))
now, if it's in the freezer and turns white, it's freezer burnt, which can alter appearance and taste, but doesn't mean it's actually "bad"...
did you know you can get sick from melted chocolate(not the kind YOU melt, but the kind left out in heat)? idk offhand the exact ingredient, but one of them has an adverse effect when melted and left in it's condition, and can cause upset stomach, and bad bad bacteria!

Ya know the strange thing ... since I bought the chocolate at Aldi for cheap, I assumed it would be close to the expiration date or something. Well before I threw it out last night I checked the date and it was 01/10, so it shouldn't have been bad.
I did notice a few of the bars felt miss-shappen, like maybe they had melted some and then cold cool again. This has happened with some Reese's cups I got there before too. But they didn't taste funny like this did last night.
I don't think I am gonna buy chocolate from Aldi anymore.

I always heard it's good for a year - after that it might get discolored, but it should be fine. I'd only eat it if it were frozen though. Just in case.
Yeah, some of my chocolate a while back had a little bit of a whitish tone to it. Chad said that's what happens when it's not stored at a proper temp. So you're probably right about them melting and cooling. That's why all of those crazy people on those Food Network cooking competitions spend so much time tempering their chocolate.

hmmm I have some M&M's that are in one of those large bags in my cabinet that are from Valentines Day that I didn't realize I had up there. I saw it the other day... I'll probably eat them eventually :) Maybe M&Ms don't go bad because they have a hard coating haha

I was really hoping the answer would be, "Of course not!!!" ;)
