One alternative might be to use the same ring as a wedding ring, and not have a separate one. You really don't want to get to the point of either having that one covered up by a wedding band, or not worn at all because it wouldn't go with the wedding ring.
You're absolutely right... this ring means the world to me, and if I can't find something that compliments it without screwing up its uniqueness, I may just end up doing exactly that... wearing the 1 as both e-ring and wedding ring.
