Hi Gals! Its been awhile. I would like your thoughts. Tell me if this is totally tacky. We are not having any formal dances at our wedding "bride&groom, Father&daughter" ect.. so we decided that we were going to play mixes of various music on our stereo. Instead of spending money on a dj. (Mind you our wedding is a small one.) I have heard of others doing this. what are your thoughts on this.:bbeek:

I don't think it's tacky at all as long as you keep in mind that your run of the mill living room stereo won't be loud enough to be heard in anything much bigger than your living room...

The biggest mistake I've seen people make in regard to music is renting even a somewhat smallish hall and then assuming if they turn it all the way up, it's going to sound as great as it does at home and are dissapointed when it sounds tinny, muffled and/or faint OR worse yet, a speaker blows from being turned up too loud.

we were going to do that, but decided it was better to at least buy a home theater system to hook up. We also have only about 100 people.

Thank you all!! I feel better now that it doesn't seem tacky!:D I will take the sound into consideration. I think our stereo system will be fine.

Not tacky at all. It's your wedding, so if that's what you want to do, then do that! good luck!
