The reputation bar http://forums.onewed.com/images/reputation/reputation_pos.gifhttp://forums.onewed.com/images/reputation/reputation_pos.gifhttp://forums.onewed.com/images/reputation/reputation_pos.gif is the green (some times red or gray) bar that is to the right of the person name on each post. This is reputation that you get from other members of the forums.
When a user clicks the scale http://forums.onewed.com/images/buttons/reputation.gif that is on the top right side of the post they will be able to leave good or bad feedback to your post that effect your reputation.

This allows you to leave comments that effect the users reputation and also a way for you to leave a quick comment without making a new post.

You can see the reputation that you have given or someone else has given you by going to your user CP.

I'd love to see details on how this works. For example, what are the levels? (They all sound like some version of "awesome" to me, but I assume that some require more positives than others?) Also, how do you get points? I'm assuming that some come from positive ratings. However, I was just noticing that I have 1510 points, and I'm pretty sure I haven't even had time to accumulate that many ratings.

Sorry, being a little OCD about this, but I'm curious.

The amount of reputation points that a person has influences how many you have. So you may have received a couple ratings from a few positively established members, and that would give you enough points to get 1510. Since you are new, and haven't been around long enough to accumulate some of the absurdly high amount of reps that regulars have, you wouldn't have the same ability to give reputation.

The bars represent how many points you have.

Where it says "reputation power". when you leave rep, that's the number of points that the other person gets if positive or looses if negative. When you are newer, it tends to be lower than for more established members who may have been accumulating positives. I think it's to keep trolls out - most trolls aren't determined enough to stick around and accumulate positives! :)

Also, if you get neg repped by any of the moderators, they have enough power to shoot your whole thing red.

I know at least one of my positives came from a moderator, so that could explain it. Now I guess I just have to continue to behave, so I don't lose my "spectacular aura." ;)

It is mostly just a fun thing and another way to comment on posts ;) It is only a big deal if you get a lot of bad rep.
