Does anyone know if its possible to straighten the natural curl out of hair??

I have curly/wavy hair, But I heat-straighten it almost everyday (4-5 days a week). Well I have tried to make it curly a few times here recently and it won't do anything! The underneath parts get a little curly, but the top is just straight and a little frizzy.
Straightening is the only thing I can think of. I haven't changed anything or used anything different on my hair. I bought a new straighter a little over a year ago, I was using a CHI now I have a Croc. Oh also my hair is a little "fried" in a few places. Due to a BRAND NEW blow dryer I bought last year.:irked: It had a defective heating element or something! Which I stopped using and I try not to blow-dry my hair that much anymore.

So does anyone have any ideas or tips?? Its frustrating and I don't want to lose my curl:bbcry:.

I guess it is posible that your hair could get used to being straightened all the time.

There are lots of curl boosting products out there. I have no experience with any of them though.

I know when I use to have a perm I would use a difuser when I'd dry my hair and I would not dry it all the way.

You can get a heat protectant spray for when you use the dryer and flat iron too.

Your hormones also influence your hair. When I started going through perimenopause my stick straight hair went curly. It took about 5 years for the whole process cause it started with just one patch in the back, but now my hair is curly all around my head. Have you changed birth control? Medicine and supplements can also effect your hair.

Thanks ladies!

I am doing a protien treatment a couple times a week for the damage. And I have been using a heat protector spray for a few years now, everytime I straighten my hair.
When I try to go curly, I use frizz-ease serum and their dream curls spray also a mousse for hold.
I didn't think about BC though! I have been on Ortho tri cyclen LO for 3 or 4 years, but last year I had to go on the generic I think its called TriSprintec. And I did have a lot of side effects from it. Now Im back on the tri cyclen LO. I have only been back on it for about 4 months. Maybe It will reverse itself...If thats even possible.:bbconfused:

I don't know much about your situation other than this post, but did you recently move to a different location?

I have really curly hair, and depending on what location I'm in sometimes it will actually stay straight without me doing anything. Like when I go visit states with less humidity/more dry heat or air my hair will actually straighten itself...

I also sometimes wonder if we train our hair by straightening it alot. Because I notice mine is less curly after I straighten it most of the time for years, and I always just assumed it was because of getting older.

I have curly hair and straighten my bangs. Before I started doing that if I left them alone they would be the curliest part of my hair, but now they are mainly straight without doing anything to them.

Same thing happened when I used to straighten all my hair all of the time. If I tried to make it curl it would fail miserably. But now after like 2 years of rarely straightening all my hair, it's back to being curly when I leave it alone by itself.
