100 ft above the tree tops. I can see that wedding over there. (Yes someone was getting married up on the lake that day at Preachers Grove)

Nothing like a peacefull 8 hours of nothing but pure nature to clear the mind and soul.

exactly ;) it looked like you were on an uneducational and disheartening school field trip!

BUT you gave ME neat knowledge, i had NO idea the back of the mississippi was a tiny pond! i figured it was a huge lake, like other rivers are!

but it looks really pretty! where is that? lol i'm slow, but it looks like it'd be a neat thing to check out!

Neko,
Kind of hard to smile when you twist an ankle. Thats why I'm glenching my fist and biting my lip in the pic next to the plaque.

Jess,
And actually Lake Itasca (located in central MN) is a huge lake. But the stream that comes out and eventually turns into the Mississippi is small. You'd never think something that small could turn into something that grand.
Plus the park is the oldest of all state parks in MN.
The view from the fire tower is breath taking.
Here's a link (http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/itasca/index.html)to the parks website so you can read up more on it if you'd like.

Between that and Split Rock Light House, it's a tough choice for a favorite.
