I was just wondering at what type of places are you guys all having your make-up done at. I haven't had my make-up done in a long time. The last time was for my friend's wedding at a beauty shop, but that was about 4 or 5 years ago. I remember for prom I always had it done at Clinque and one time I had it done at Merle Norman. I really liked Merle Norman. I just wanted to know what route everyone who is getting their make-up done is going. I am really pondering over who I should get to do mine.

For Amber's wedding, we're having ours done at a beauty shop.

I haven't really thought about that. I figured I was going to do my own.

I was going to have the lady at the Lancome counter at Dilliard's do mine (I buy my makeup from her), but she did a trial run on me and I wasn't comfortable with it so I have changed my mind and am going to do it myself.

I did my own. Since I had started doing the Mary Kay thing, it was pretty easy. I have a website that will do the virtual makeovers so you can see what different colors will look like on you. I played around with different looks until I found my "wedding makeup" Playing around also gave me practice so that on my wedding day, I knew how to put it on right. The website does give the instructions on applying it, bur practice makes perfect.
Carrie had also posted a place that was pretty much like that too but I do not even remember what it was

I remember when Carrie posted that too. But I can't recall what it was either. It was good though. :)

I LOVE having my make-up done! I have never had a bad experience. I don't want to do it myself.

Cindy, did you use the same site Carrie mentioned or a different one? If it's different, would you please share it? I'd love to check it out. I know NOTHING about make-up. The only thing I every where is cover-up and mascara. I'd like to do a little more for the wedding, but still look "natural." Ya know?

No I used my website I had to get when I signed up to sell Mary Kay. I had actually used my SiLs site when I started looking at make up. If you want I will PM it to you, but Im scared if I post it, I will be spamming. Although I did have it in my sig for the longest!!!!

I thought you could have it in your sig. Elizabeth has her website in her sig and there has been nothing said about it. I would think it someone asks for it anyway then it is not spam. I guess that is a good question.

Ok...I put it back in my sig. And for the record, you dont have to buy anything or register to do the makeovers and such.

If you have a Sephora in your area, they will give you a makeup consultation and actually teach you how to do the techniques that they are using. Plus all of their products are a really good quality. That is where I get a lot of my stuff at. (Although with a couple of exceptins I have vowed to not wear any makeup other than mascara and lip gloss this summer)

I think we are going to be doing our own makeup. I would rather do it myself anyway. I took dance for years and at recitals, I always had to balance the dramatic/natural look, so I am pretty sure I can pull it off myself!

I'm having my MOH's sister do mine. She's a professional make-up artist and has done make-up for some pretty big names. She has offered to do it for free but I'm going to give her a nice gift. She's going to use her make-up for my "experimental" trial so I can get a look and see what I like. Based on that, her and I are going to go out and find make-up. She offered to use her make-up but I guess it depends on how it goes. I love make-up and it wouldnt hurt to have some extra. ;)

Mine was done at the salon where I was having my hair done. They had their own in-house professional makeup artist. It was great!

I will be having the salon do my hair and makeup for my day. If I don't i'll probably end up looking like Frankinstien(sp) lol b/c of my nerves.

Another counter you might want to try is the MAC counter; I love their Studio Fix powder. I will say too that I tried Lancome's new mousse, and it is really nice-- just be sure to try all the shades as it is rather unforgiving LOL! If you can get your hands on their Matte Finish powder, you will not be disappointed.

Be sure to go to www.sephora.com (http://www.sephora.com) or a local Sephora store too-- they do trials and have other brands there too like Smashbox and some others, so you have more options.

This is a great place to get your tools too, I get my brushes from their and also from www.kevynaucoin.com (http://www.kevynaucoin.com) (I've been such a big fan of Aucoin's work). His highlighting technique is AWESOME.

E'ed for professional courtesy.

ANyone know of some good eye shadow that stays on and doesn't crease, I have tried the ones taht supposly don't do that but hey they did!!! I also hate the creamy stuff

MAC is good for no creasing; also try to use a primer before applying the eyeshadow and set with a translucent powder.

HTH

ETA: I have the how to from MAC's conference for bridal looks if anyone is interested. Also some great instructions on going bronze and highlighting, and my favorite, the smoky eye look.

I like the look of Mac the times I've seen them. Sadly there is no Mac counter close enough to use for me to have them do my make-up. :bbconfused:

Aaaww... I wish you guys did! You can try ebay :)

ETA: There are great samples and such on there. You can get a good deal; if you end up finding someting you like you can always purchase online at the store or try ebay again for the full size product.

I was the same way! Plus I needed to save all the money I could and I know how I like my own makeup.

If you want to drive a little you have several close to you. Kaufmanns at: Ross Park, South Hills Village, Monroeville, and I think Boardman/Youngstown Mall all have them. Ross Park also has a Sephora.

Hello,

My best friend just got married, and she went around to all the counters at the department stores to find out what was available. She found that some counters like mac charged alot, and some charged significantly less. She settled on estee lauder because they don't charge at all, if you agree to buy three products from them. You might as well get some products out of it if you are going to pay.

One of my flowergirls mom's (also a close friend of mine) was a make up artist. She's got the same complection as I do and she's done it before so she's going to be doign mine and my girls.
If that was to fall through for any reason I'm going to probably go to this salon that I went to for my friends wedding in the sumemr. She did a fabulous job!!! I just wanna make sure I get my false eye lashes cause mine are so thin and blahhhhh!
