ever since we realized that one of the announcements at the ceremony was going to be, "The blessing over the bread will be given by the ex-husband of one of the brides."

LOL :) That's too funny - I love it.

ETA - Wow - you only have 2 months to go! How's the rest of your planning going?

Tuesday, I got the rest of the dishes we'll need for the reception. Yesterday, we met with the person who will be supplying the food for the reception. Tomorrow, we go for our second fitting. This is all starting to seem real!

No kidding! So you all are having your reception in DC in the same time frame as the marriage in Mass or at a later date? It gets hard when you have to do multiple locations, obviously, but I know it's worth it for you! So exciting that it's all coming up quickly!

Because we are a same-sex couple, we're having to have our ceremony in Massachusetts. At the same time, we wanted to be able to have a big celebration with all our friends in DC. We're therefore having a very small (under 20 people) ceremony in Massachusetts on October 6, then taking all our guests out to lunch afterward. Then on October 9, we'll have a much bigger (about 100 people) reception back in DC, with a musician, dancing, and a DIY "photobooth."

That's cool - you'll have a couple of days in between to make sure everything is in order, especially with all of your DIY, before the reception. :) That'll make it easier to relax and enjoy.

What a testimony to what kind of person you are!

I'd say "former" instead of ex, since "ex" has negative connotations that it seems don't exist here!

I commend you for being on such good terms with your ex-husband that he blesses this - not many could say the same :)
