Your DIY turned out great. I love Frank and his bride.
Did you have a book for the centerpieces & stuff? Everything looks wonderful.

My cousin taught us how to do the halloween clay sculptures, I think she learned from a book (she teaches classes now for Michael's crafts). We bought the flowers at dollar tree/michael's, and the pumpkin pots at Dollar tree. We just arranged the flowers to our own liking (my family is very crafty, my mom used to own a ceramic/craft store when I was a kid) . Everything was very easy, including the sculptures. I got some books on it, I might try to make a cake topper for a friend's wedding this spring.
The hardest thing was probably the headdress, and that was just floral taping flowers and leaves to some thich wire.
Everything else has enough hot glue on it to choke a horse!
anything anyone wants help with DIY, just ask!

i can't sleep. I choked on some popcorn a little bit ago, so now i feel like
c r u d. blah. Tomorrow we need to go the the tux shop, because they never called Steve for his fitting. whoops. I seriously hope we can get the tuxes now, it not, i will hurt them! is this the Bridezilla icon?? --->:icon_barbar:

10-10-2006, 02:07 PM
So now my Dad is mad at me because when I choked on the popcorn last night, I had to go get something to drink, which caused me to walk to the fridge, which is right over my parents bedroom, and I woke him up. and now he's grouchy. ugg.
We are about to go to the tuxedo shop in a few. they haven't called us since we made our deposit, so i wonder if our order ever went through? uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugggggggggggggggg gg! :icon_barbar:
Panthers Bride

sorry about the cranky daddy. I hope (for their sake) that the tuxes got ordered.
HalloweenBride
10-10-2006, 07:51 PM
Yay! The Tux order is fine. I took a (bad) picture of the model but it was behind some other stuff. I'll post it later. We just need the best man to call in his measurements (he lives like 100 miles away) and one of the groomsmen lives less than 10 miles away, he can just go in.
Also, I think we found our apartment! The manager was SO nice, and it's like 1 minute from my parents place. No washer/dryer, but I think they have laundry there, or I can go visit my parents and do it there. I have lived in places where we did laundry in the bathtub and hung it on the balcony or on the shower curtain...lol. It's one bedroom, but with a big closet and a storage area on the balcony. It's also like, 1 min from the scrapbook store! heaven.
About my new job..I couldn't start it because of the miscarriage, and I've been calling them for a week trying to find out when i was going to start, and i finally got ahold of them today and they told me that they gave the photographer job to someone else..but i could be a salesperson. uh no. So I called up their sister studio (a friend is the manager) and said "I want to work for you!" and I start tomorrow! Woot. I so need the monies. It sucks donkey to have to run to the mail box every day and hope someone sent a wedding check, yanno? We've only gotten one in the mail, a while ago, and it helped pay bills. I also got a $250 check from my godmother for the bridal shower, and that paid our ring payment and my cc bill.
59 people are in limbo. FIFTY NINE! People! Tell us if you are coming already!!!!
HalloweenBride
10-12-2006, 01:18 AM
I worked! yay! I even got to take pix. I knew I would though, because I could tell from the appt. book they were over booked, and there was a girl the manager had been training for a WEEK, and she didn't want to do it, so I just jumped in! I am conceited, but I really think I am the best there! hehehe
Is is so sad that I want wedding presents now? I am so greedy. I also want people to send in their response cards! what are they doing with them, using them for toilet paper??????

Packing Sucks. I hate it. I have toooo much crud. Most is pictures (not getting rid of those!), craft supplies and clothes. The clothes I'm sorting into seasonal, and everything I don't wear I am giving to the Arc. or something. I can't take having all of this crud!
In other news, I am about to find my to-do lists on my journal and quickly update them, and also, one of steve's great aunts and uncle sent us a check for 200 big ones. yay! I was so stoked, mainly because all of the money we've gotten so far has been from my family.

gah. I worked from 9-4 then scrapbooked from 4:30 til 11. me tired.
So, Steve and I supposedly got a wedding present from my grandparents today, and mom won't let us open it (we haven't see it). I asked if was a clock (my grandpa is obsessed with clocks) or money and she said no to both.
It's something we don't want to open before we move into the new apt.

I think I am the only nightowl on onewed these days.
anyhoo, I'm stressing about evvvvvvvvvvverything. I got sick (tummyache) three times today and once in the middle of the night worrying about wedding stuff. not good.
I think I've figured out my bouquet, which I know my mom will say is BORING but I don't CARE.
I found this on wedding channel
Nosegays: The year's hottest bouquet is the monochromatic nosegay. From a sweet clutch of blush roses, to a stunning arrangement of stargazer lilies, there is a nosegay to fit every bride's style. And best of all, nosegays are a snap to make. First, groom each flower. You'll need to remove all thorns or extra leaves, and wrap thinner stems with wire to support them. Then trim the stems to the correct length, probably eight to ten inches or so. Gather the flowers together in your hand to form a dome shape, and wrap the stems together with wire. Finally, wrap the stems and wire with a ribbon, and tie it off with a bow.
It's just getting it to last, unless we make all of them at the crack of dawn on the day of the wedding. It could happen I guess. I want all red roses for mine, with what color ribbon? black? white? red? ugg
I want my MOH to have red and white roses
and the other girls to have white roses
I like these styles http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v485/zoeblog/078-1.jpg

Another day, another dolla.
Today I got some simple porcelain boxes (heh..dolla tree) with ribbon on them (I got white for all of the girl except Lori, they had a pink one and she loves pink. I also got a pink one for the flowergirl) I think I might write their names on them with a silver paint pen, and I'm going to put their necklaces/earrings in them.
I also got some photo tote bags that I am going to make for each girl. only prob is that I only have 4 and I need 6. I got them at walmart so I am going to try to find somemore tomorrow after work. They are really cute.
I think I will put in things like a little pack of tissues, some lotion, mints or gum and the little box. I'd love to get all of them more, but I am so poor that it's not funny.
Things to do tomorrow:
We're getting a few pix take of us by my friend Rachel (I'm doing pix of her and her bf as well)
Get some more photo bags
Work on Ringbearer/bellringer cloaks
work on ceremony (I will post that in a few, our officiant is helping us put it together.)
work on ceremony musak (ooo danny elfman music!!!)

Good Morning All!
just stoppin in because I'll probably be out and about all day doing stuffs. I think we are going to get our marriage liscense today! After we take pix anyway. Steve wore the wrong shirt, but that's okay. I can deal. I just need some pix for the programs and the website. well, time to check on where the hell we can get a wedding licsense!!!!
HalloweenBride
10-19-2006, 02:24 AM
We got the marriage liscense! It was a whopping $30, but thats okay, it's worth it. Only prob is that I don't get paid until friday, and steve doesn't get paid until monday, and I have like $6.32 in my checking account, and my cc is maxed. ugg. More wedding chex please! (me so greedy) We got some pix taken today by my friend Rachel, and while she is awesome, I think I look HORRIBLE in them. wow. I look HUGE in my face. There's only one or two I even want to show people. oh well.
Good news! I found my Corpse Bride CD! bad news..my computer doesn't seem to like it very much? uggggggg. I think I am going to bug mom into buying some punkins tomorrow. I can start carving them now, and they will last. I also have a fake "funkin" to carve...not sure what I am going to put on that yet.
ooo! my cd started working! I loooooove Danny Elfman! I know alot people do, but omg I totally could listen to his stuff all day.
ok enuff rambling.

bluuuuuuuuuuuuuuurg. I can't really do any wedding stuff right now except work on the wedding music/ceremony because I have no monies. ugg. I kind want to scrape out my two lonely pumpkins...but that would be messy and it's cold outside. ugg. plus I have to go to work in two hours....zzzzzzzzzz

I really wish I lived close to you. I'd love to watch your wedding. I wouldn't eat or drink anything - just watch the ceremony. I think it's going to be so neat!!
HalloweenBride
10-19-2006, 04:03 PM
I should post our ceremony. I will when it's done, it's cool. Steve and I just spent an hour cleaning our our cars, and it was NOT fun. We both have trouble with throwing things away, and like 5 trash bags later, we STILL weren't done. I'm not a dirty person, just a pack rat. My car is still full of clothes (some I have no idea how they got there!) and the boys toys and like 4 umbrellas and like $15 in change..lol.
I do not want to go to work! I feel like I can't get any wedding stuff done when I have to work every single day (every day this week i've worked 3-7 and it ruins my whole day, and tomorrow and sat I have to work 9-4) uggggg.
at least tomorrow I have an eye appointment to get my contacts and I get to leave work early to go!
Jenn060306
10-20-2006, 12:46 AM
Ugh i hate cleaning cars! DH is a complete car slob. It's like he tosses every peice of trash in the backseat and not in the little trash car i got him. lol. If i'm ever missing a CD that's the first place i look. He totally hoards them all. lol.
How are you feeling? You're wedding is coming up so quickly! I'm sure it's going to be amazing! Everything sounds great so far!

zzzz I need to go to bed...I worked all day (our studio/store did a charity event today where we took pics of 85 kids in a ROW...and I had to do it (along with the manager) bleck. it was okay, just tiring. I also got my contacts today! cool!
we let the boys "carve" their punkins..I make them take the guts out, then scrape it, then they help me draw the face and I carve it with their "help"
I also carved a big punkin with "Lauren and Steve" on it! it looks so cute. I will post a pic tomorrow.
tomorrow i have to work again (9-4) then I am off sunday, then i work 3-7 on mon and 10-something on tues..and after that i am off until like nov 8 or something. thank goodness.
well i am going to take these contacts out of my eyeballs now, and go to BED! night girls!

Things are coming together!
so far
Groomswoman Dana picked up her dress and got her shoes and underthings for it (she bought fake boobies!) and we just need to get it hemmed. My momma is going to do it so we don't have to pay the seamstress. sweet.
Bridesmaid Jennifer bought her plane tickets and will be here on the 26th!! in just a few days! I am so excited because I haven't seen her in EIGHT years and I miss her so much. It almost makes me cry I am so happy she is coming! We're going to have so much fun!
I have alot of pumpkins to carve still, but steve is going to help me with the scraping tomorrow so I can get that started. I got a pumpkin "power saw" that is soo cool.
the ceremony music isn't going as planned. I was planning on using my itunes gift cert but some of the songs I want aren't on itunes, so I am changing it a little. I will post an updated list tomorrow or something.
uhhh. I am tired. going to upload some pix then bed!
HalloweenBride
10-23-2006, 12:03 AM
I am calming down a little. yay!
I need to:
buy candy and stuff for candy buffet
buy ribbon for bouquets
me: Red roses tied with white and red ribbon
MOH: Red and white roses, black ribbon
bridesmaids : white roses, black ribbon
groomswomen, white roses, red ribbon
finish carving punkins (I will post pix, I promise. I have my "Lauren and Steve" one done, and two small ones I did today, I drilled holes and inserted xmas lights, ala Martha Stewart.)
uhh.. buy a brain.
I also need to copy some family photos for my memorial set up.
I need to glue the jewels to my veil
I need to buy underwear for the wedding day (I was thinking of halloween themed, of course. i saw some cute ones at Torrid)
Wedding night nightgown...I want one, but I never sent my godmother any of the links to the ones online, and I can't find any here and since steve and I are arriving at the hotel in wedding clothes (he'll be helping me uh..remove the dress) what's the point of the lingerie?
HalloweenBride
10-23-2006, 12:09 AM
my cousin called me about the cake! it's going to be sooo cool
ok, bottom layer will be round and level
next three layers will be "topsy turvy"
layer 2 will have frosting work to look like a wrought iron fence (think nightmare before xmas)
layer 3 will have blood red roses
layer 4 will have an ivy like design
then the cake topper, of course!
it will be red velvet cake with bavarian cream filling.
yum!

I need to go to beddy. We have final walk through tomorrow at the venue at 11am! I will take lotsa pix.

I got my dress! I think it still needs to be steamed/pressed, but my friends mom didn't charge us for the alterations! My mom tried to pay her, and she wouldn't take it! She's so sweet. I also need her to alter Jennifers dress, we're going to do that on Friday.
My MOH called me and said "this weddding is taking alot out of her"! HER?? Geez. I know she's doing the bachleorette party, and she bought her dress, but other than that and showing up for the rehersal and wedding that's about all I've asked of her. ugg.
I have to work tomorrow 10-3 then I get to meet steves sis at 4 pm for an early dinner and probably see the dreaded velvet dress...

YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
this is the almost final copy we sent our officiant. Most of the longer parts are from her ceremony archives, but we wrote the vows
Commencement
Welcome! Family and Friends: Bride and Groom have asked me to
welcome you on their behalf. This ceremony attests to a commitment
and fulfills their wish to stand before family and friends and
proclaim their love. Can you think of a better way than this? I can
not.
Dear Bride and Groom, we have all gathered here this afternoon to
celebrate your marriage. This ceremony is a public expression of the
love you share and the commitment you wish to make to each other
through the coming years. Today you are surrounded by your family and
friends, all of whom are gathered to witness your marriage and to
share your joy in this wonderful day. This ceremony attests to the
happiness you have already attained through your year of friendship
with one another and the deepening love that will evolve from this
intimate union.
Address
Marriage is universally regarded as one of the crucial events of human
life, taking its place with those other two - the coming hither in
birth and the departure from life through death. The joy we now feel
is a solemn joy because the act of marriage is fraught with weighty
consequences, both social and personal. By this marriage you two will
reach a new social status and rise to a new plane of social dignity.
But, also, with the founding of the family, there come the most
difficult tasks and exacting disciplines which fall to our human lot.
Your marriage requires "love," which is a word often used with
vagueness and sentimentality. We mean something very real, when we
bind ourselves in love. It can mean sweet freedom and fulfillment.
When we love we see things other people do not see. We see beneath the
surface and observe qualities which make this one different from and
dearer than all others. To see with loving eyes is to know inner
beauty and to be loved is to be seen and known as we are known to no
other.
Such love means security. Each of us would like to have an absolute
security. This we cannot have, but we come close to it when we are
loved - when another human being wants us, wants to share life with
us, accepts us, without qualification or reservation, not as perfect,
but as human, with strengths and weaknesses. The love of which we
speak is not static. It is a growing and dynamic relationship. We
dream that tomorrow we will grow and fulfill our possibilities. It is
a blessing when someone believes in our dream of ourselves and wants
to live with us and help make dreams and aspirations come true.
Love of this sort can grow. It is not, like yout h, a moment that
comes and is gone, remaining only a memory of something which cannot
be recovered. It can grow because it has something to grow upon and
grow with. It does not become contracted and stale, because it has for
its object all the objects with which the two lovers are concerned.
Love endures only when the lovers love many things together and not
merely each other.
Who presents this woman to be married to this man? Brides mother and Father: We do.
Vows
(we would like to read from cards, we're going to try to memorize it, but that would be nice)
Lauren:
On a solemn night
of a wayward plight
I accept you
I am receptive to you
this is the capturing of a moment
this is as we should own it
this is how we met
let's not forget
our true love vows
Steve:
I held you
I realized you\
you are now part of my life
my equal
my complement
yet my supplement
and my dearest
forever
Both at same time:
look into my eyes
give me your hands
approach me
tell me you love me
leave my embrace
as we know
we can love each other
when we are apart
Blessing and Exchanging of Rings
And now the rings:
We don't need one ring to rule it all, but we do need two rings to unite Lauren and Steve before all of you.
These rings are a symbol of unbroken circle of love.Love, freely given, has no beginning and no end. Love, freely givin has no giver
and no receiver- for each is the giver and the receiver.May these rings remind you always of the Love you share on this day.
With this ring, I ask you to be mine
Blessing
We rejoice this day in your marriage. We celebrate the love that
brought you to this day. With love that deepens through many years,
may you know its meaning and its mystery - how we become truly one in
sharing ourselves with one another, and yet, remain truly two in our
own uniqueness. May your house be a place of happiness for all who
enter it, a place where the old and the young are renewed in each
other's company, a place for growing, a place for music, a place for
laughter. And when shadows and darkness fall within its rooms, may it
still be a place of hope and strength for all who enter it, especially
for those who may be entrusted to your care. May no person be alien to
your compassion. May your larger family be the family of all
humankind. And may those who are nearest to you and dearest to you
constantly be enriched by the beauty and the bounty of your love for
each other.
Pronouncement of Marriage
For as much as you have consented together in marriage, declaring your
love for each other, giving and receiving rings, it is my pleasure and
joy to declare that henceforth you are husband and wife. At last!
You may kiss the Bride! or
You may seal your marriage with a kiss!

I posted this in wedding day stories as well, but I might as well post it here.
Our Wedding Story
So, my mind is a leetle fuzzy after that roap trip to Lost Wages, but I'll do my best.
The night before (after the rehersal) my bridesmaid Jennifer (from Alaska!) and I helped mom make all of the bouquets, boutineres, and corsages. They came out pretty well, considering that we're not
florists!! We had tons of flowers so we made lots of corsages, and it's a good thing too! This way Steve's aunts for out of town all got one, and they all were SO happy that we remembered them. We made all of them different. After that Jen and I carved more pumpkins and around midnight I took her back to her hotel.
I was a little nervous, but when I got home I took a bath and shaved my legs (I knew I wouldn't have time in the morning!) and just relaxed. I fiddled around the house and watched some tv, and got to sleep around 2 am!
I got up at 7, showered, helped mom organize stuff that needed to go to the venue then went to pick up Jen for my hair apt. We arrived early so we got some Starbucks (I KNEW there was a reason why I chose that salon!) and after I paid for it, Jen mentioned that it was my wedding day, so they said, oh we would've given you free coffee had we known that! I wasn't too nervous at this time, because I had alot of stuff to do before the ceremony.
At the salon, Tisha dd my hair and makeup and she was fabulous! It took like, 2 hours which isn't so bad, but it was kinda boring. Jen was there to chat with and she took tons of pix of me.
Now it was 11am and we needed to be at the venue at 11:30 for "getting ready pix"! eek! We got there as soon as we could, but the whole wedding party and steve were waiting outside because my mom had the key and they couldn't get in at ALL. oh well. They ushered me upstairs to the bridesroom where my mom set out a feast of fruit, breads, cheeses, popcorn and winecoolers! They waited on me hand and foot (a girl could get used to this!) the photographer came in and asked if it was time, so we suggested having him do pix of steve first while the girls and mom got me into my corset and slip. The photog. came in before I had my dress on, but that was okay, i was bascially dressed. He took pix of me diving into my dress, and being laced up (i know he got some great pix of that, we were being really silly)
They got me all ready and then it was time to go downstairs for pix with steve. They had me walk down the stairs and meet him at the bottom, and he had his back turned. They told him to turn around and I'll never forget that look. He looked so sweet I almost started crying and he told me how beautiful I am (not looked, am.) we went outside on the porch to do a million pix. I will let the prof. photos speak for themselves when I get them. They are going to be so cool! It was a little chilly outside, but everyone was a trooper and didn't complain. We did bridal party and family pix after that.
At about 3:30 they made me go upstairs to rest before the ceremony, The Offficant came to talk to me, and told me the dj was there, and i tried to explain the pre-ceremony music and song to her to tell to him, but in the end he only played about 10 min of the 30 which was a little annoying. Everyone got in line and walked down stairs when the ceremony music started. I started down by myself and saw my Dad waiting there, and he took my arm and pattted my hand, I think I might have been shaking a little, I don't know. I know I was smiling freaking HUGE (from the pix I've seen). I had to walk through a doorway, and my veil got caught and I think it fell off, because my dad jammed it back on my hair! I thought it was off for the ceremony, but it was on.
I kissed Dad and he "gave" me to steve along with mom, and steve was just SHAKING. Poor dude. The ceremony went really well, only we didn;t realize that there was a part in it that said ".,...for all the years you've known each other..." SNORT! I snickered and so did steve , my parents and my moh. it was pretty funny. The kiss was great and we kind of waited for a sec after she announced us, because I wanted to walk back down to the certain part of the song (theme from Beetlejuice) and when we got back to the doorway? I just burst out laughing. It was so funny to me. We had had a receiving line, and met everyone. I was little disapointed that alot of my family wasn't there (and they live in town, nearby!) didn't come, and some of my friends weren't there. :-( There were alot of people though.
everyone went down stairs and left steve and i wandering around upstairs...finally the dj came up and said he wanted to announce us, and i suggested the theme to "Tales from the Crypt" We went down and got to eat first, then everyone was just chowing down for like an hour. People really pigged out! After that it was a whirlwind of the first dance "Spooky", my dance with my dad "My Girl" and then Steve was supposed to dance with his mom, but she mysteriously disappeared when it was announced. We did the Monster Mash and the Time warp and then it was time for the cake cutting. It was so pretty I didn't want to cut it, but we did, and yes, we did smash it. it was so fun! Our Best Man
We danced and danced, did the bouquet toss ( i had a "breakaway" bouquet that split into 6 pieces, and it was all the women, not just unmarried ones.) it was supposed to be to Just a girl, but ended up being to Girls just want to have fun because the dj couldn't find the CD. After that was the garter toss where he again used the wrong song (it was supposed to be "Oh yeah" like from the end of Ferris Bueller, but he played Another one bites the dust instead.) We danced some more and then after a coupla hours after the ceremony, people started leaving, but it was a school night. Steve and I kind of hung out while everyone left, and eventually the wedding party and my parents changed clothes and started cleaning, but we weren't allowed to help, and I started to get a little annoyed because no one would tell us what we were supposed to do.
After a while, we were told that when we left, jen was going to come with us??? we couldn't figure it out, but when we went outside there was a big stretch limo! It took Jen to her hotel (she loved it!) and then drove us around the city for an hour, then on to the hotel.
and the wedding night is a story for another day..
I really want to edit my bachlorette party pix, but my mom is right next to me, and that would be weird!!!!

Later that evening we went back to the Venetian (such a pretty hotel!) and had dinner there at a asian noodle place and then went on our Gondola ride. It was dark so I don't have many good pix, plus I had to take them myself.

So, at the beginning of the ride, they take a picture of you with the gondelier. We had a great ride, and the gondelier was awesome and sang to us in Italian (we even got to ride alone without strangers, which usually costs more). We get to the end, and they show us our picture ($20!!) and...my eyes are closed. They didn't even check or anything, and didn't offer to retake it, so I was pissed off that they tried to make me buy it! Grr. I really wanted that one!! double grr.

We had to stay in the hole in the wall motel about 2 blocks from Fremont st (downtown) it was such a slum we spent very little time there, and every morning when we left we put our stuff in the trunk of the car. It was okay, but they kept giving us only one towel and stuff! annoying!!
hummingbird521
11-11-2006, 07:19 PM
That would suck about the motel. I believe I would have checked out and found another one if i could have anyway. We once stayed in one that checked us in and told us the rooms were clean. when we got up to our room it had toenails on the floor. It was about 3 hours later before they came and finally cleaned it up. That was disgusting to me.

So I wrote this letter to the "event planner" at the DJ company we used. After I watched the video of the wedding and reception, I was po'd even more.
Dear Chad and Aardvark
This is Lauren and Steve . We are writing about our recent experience with your company. I know that you called us the day after the
wedding to ask how everything went, which is a little unfair to someone who just is emotionally exausted. We've have a few days to think about our wedding dj experience. We paid $100 for ceremony music to be played. As far as I know, I wasn't alerted that the DJ was there and therefore was unable to let him know about the pre-ceremony music on cd's I was providing. This meant that our ceremony music didn't quite go as planned, but I've decided that this is a minor detail. At the reception, the music was choppy, songs were stopping before they were over, and songs just suddenly came on out of nowhere. Our first dances went well, but after that, things went very downhill. To note:
We were supposed to have bubbles and fog. The bubbles were on one time, for less than a minute. The fogger let out fog, one time. The lights? nothing.
The song "Eye of the Tiger" was played while we cut our cake. We understand that we did not specify a song for this event, but "Eye of the Tiger"?? I personally strongly dislike this song, and it was not requested by ANYONE. You would think that a DJ would "20 years experience" would just play a love song or something appropriate
at this important time in the wedding. I had at least a THIRD of the guests ask me why I chose that! I was so embarrassed by it and still AM!
The bride requested "Just a Girl" by no doubt for the bouquet toss. The DJ knew about this long in advance, but did not bring it. He asked me if "girls just want to have fun" was okay, and what was I supposed to say? No? I didn't want that song because everyone I've known has used it. So now this part of my day was disappointing!
At our consultation, Kevin suggested a song called "oh yeah" for the garter toss. We really wanted this song, and had even told people about it. Instead "Another one bites the dust" was played. Again, not requested, no idea why it was played.
I am not clear on when the DJ left, but it was before our scheduled time. As he set up, guests, parents and the bridal party hear him complaining about the cold.
He demonstrated a "Boris Karloff" voice for us at the consultation, and we were looking forward to having him do so at the wedding.
We requested "The Time Warp" and it was a Remake (and a bad one at that) sung by KIDS! Another thing we were looking forward to, just ruined.
There was no flair. No Fun. This is why we wanted a DJ, but it didn't work out.
We had our entire ceremony and reception Videotaped (by two videographers) so we have every embarassing moment on tape.
We (and our families, that paid several hundreds of dollars on your services) are extremely disapointed. We feel our big day was dampened by someone just didn't seem excited to be there. We expect to hear back from you within 7 business days about how we can remedy this. I feel we deserve some sort of compensation for having so many things so wrong.
Chad, we went with aardvark because we liked YOU. I hope you will be able to help us.
Sincerely,
Lauren and Steve
gah. I am still po'd.

11-12-2006, 09:13 AM
I feel as if you done the right thing in writing him. If nothing comes from it then at least you got it off your chest to some extreme anyway. Hopefully you will get compensation of some kind. I can't imagine having "eye of the tiger" played during the cutting of the cake.

Lauren, I am so sorry that you had a bad experience with your DJ. I can understand your pain!
The DJ for our wedding was good up until a point. She was drinking from the bar out of my guests' tab, and by the end of the night she was so tipsy that she started playing anything and everything. She played genre's of music that I specifically said DO NOT PLAY!
I filled out the little card way too early in the night when everything was going good, I wish I would have waited.
We ended up NOT tipping her because frankly, to me, she used up her tip in the alcohol she drank away from my guests.
Anyway, I do hope you get compensation for that! What a horrible mess!
HalloweenBride
11-12-2006, 12:21 PM
Our DJ left so early that we couldn't tip him, but after that, we WEREN'T going to! I am going to go check my email now to see if they have written back. If they don't within a week or so, (I gave them until the tuesday after next) I am calling and talking to the owner. This is insane. Gah!

What is it with DJs?? We found ours in the bar when he needed to be providing music during dinner and then taking care of our slide show. I asked him to tell his boss to call me, his boss never did but I suspect he knew he was in "it" so he didn't tell the boss and I was too busy being happily married and on our honeymoon that I didn't call and yell at them either. (My fault! Oh well! I just warn others about them!) But jeese! I really think the whole DJ profession needs to get it together and pull their heads out of their asses!
Lauren, I hope you get some restitution! That is ridiculous!!! Good luck Hun!

I got a letter back from the event planner at the DJ company
"Hey Lauren this is Chad and I will send this over to the owner about this situation... Sorry for everything going bad on your special day... On that day that I called you should've said something to me. Well, once again sorry for everything I'll have the Owner Dan give you a call K "
I was so out of it on the day after the wedding, that I barely remember the call. I do remember saying SOME things about the wrong songs being played, though.
This is what I wrote back:
"I know you called us the day after, but we were still out of it, and hadn't really had much time to think yet. We thought about it alot on our hunnymoon, and we watched the videos as soon as we got home. We look forward to his call. Thank you"
gah. we'll see what happens. I'm trying not to think about it, because I loved my wedding.

My boss had already left, so I am going to work on my resume tonight, and submit it to the job website. It can't hurt. So, the DJ place called today, and were all like " We have to have your wedding video!!" and I'm like, uh, I'll bring it in and you can WATCH it with me (and mom and steve) there and see all of the things that went wrong! more things we discovered were wrong:
we were supposed to have " light sparkles" like a disco ball, but he didn't have that.
A black light..wasn't there
"party toys" , dance instruction, and LOTS OF FUN!
I'll show them (the owner) the video, and he can see for himself how much stuff went wrong. My parents deserve their money back. ugg.
in other news, I am tired. goodnight!

So, we took the video the the DJ place today, and watched most of it with the "event planner" (the guy who talked us into the package we got). Mom was asking him about the things we didn't get, and he's all like "I have no control over that" (meaning he has no control over what the DJ does, i guess) anyway, this is what my paper says:
Once upon the dream package
Your wedding day will seem like a dream, with your head in cloud of romance. This dreamy romantic package captures that feeling. Your dance floor will be covered with a thick low level fog to give the appearance of a cloud, with sparkling lights and a subtle glow of the brides dress. The bubbles with float down, as if from the heavens. It's beautiful, elegant, tasteful and fun!
HalloweenBride
11-16-2006, 12:28 AM
You will receive our "Dream" lighting and sound package consisting of
an attractive sparkling light the gives the appearance of stars shimmering all around (didn't get)
a soft black light to give a subtle glow to the brides gown (didn't get)
a bubble machine for hundreds of bubbles dancing all around (got for 20 seconds)
a dry ice machine to create a cloud for your first dance (uh. no)
Party toys, dance instructions and lots of fun!! (we made our OWN fun, dammit)
I am so po'd. ugg.
so they have my wedding video, and never called us back after they viewed it with the owner. I'm telling you, if we don't get the money back, they are going to be very sorry.
I also talked to my boss about the manager job, and she said she is hiring for that after xmas, based on performance. It will be MINE!

blah. not much new in these parts. All we do is work. I have to work from 8:30-5 tomorrow, and it's going to kick my butt. We did get a $25 check yesterday from one of my dad's cousins, so that was a nice surprise! Today we both (amazingly) have a day off, so we're being lazy, maybe we'll do some grocery shopping, go to the bank and boring stuff like that. I'll try to get some more hunnymoon pix up later.

11-17-2006, 11:23 PM
So, I called the DJ place, once AGAIN, and got the owner this time. I told him off. I mean, I explained everything once again. Why do you ask? because right now, he's only giving us $150 BACK. We paid $850 and didn't get over half of the stuff we paid for. He justified giving $150 back because the package below ours is what we got, basically, and surprise, it's $150 less. I went down there, and got the check for mom, and when I walked in, the other employees (other than the owner and the guy we're been talking to) were all like "you're the one with the refund, right??" HA!!!
He also wrote mom a letter, and I'll post that in a sec,
I found THIS on Myspace

Most bridal couples are so tense on their wedding day that can barely enjoy themselves. Why? There are so overwhelmed with details, the become a nervous wreck...
? We're here at the reception, so now what we do?
? Should we dance our dance or do the bouquet thing?
? Will the music be to loud
? Oh no, Jenny was supposed to bring the script for Brook to say her toast, she's so nervous and everyone will be waiting.
? Where's the photographer, I want to cut the cake?

all I can say is..HAHAHAHA! What a load of bull.
I can't find the letter the guy wrote right now (mom must've filed it or something) but it bascially said that if we could get our other wedding video to the owner (as far as we know, our bro in law taped alot of the reception as well, but it's in washington) that he would continue "reviewing" our complaint and we could possibly get more money back. whatever. Mom paid for it with her "guaranteed credit card" and if she doesn't like something she buys on it, she gets her money back. We'll see what she does with that.
I am trying not to be annoyed!
In other news, we added Steve to my bank account today and all that jazz. I also changed my name the other day!!!! I took his name. I was going to hyphenate, but it seemed too long (12 letters).
I Do NOT want to work tomorrow. It's going to be a nightmare.

What a nightmare, Lauren! I'm so sorry that they didn't come through for you on your wedding day. That just totally sucks! I'm glad you got a little bit of it back, but you should definitely have at least gotten half of your money back. I feel sorry for all the other wedding couples that they are going to screw over with their lies. :irked:

Do you have a "Better Business Bureau" around you! You could DEFINATELY report them to someone like that. At least that way you would get the word out that they suck and it would be like a permanent mark on their business. That's what I would do!!!! Or at least threaten them with it, usually they will give in and fix things. Or what we like to do, is tell the person we're getting our high priced lawyer involved, that always gets us our money back!!!

I bought some faux rosebud sprays and cut them apart and floral taped them into 6 bunches. I then wrote out a little fortune or saying for each one, and tied it on with ribbon. I tied all of the bunches together with a big ribbon that I took off right before the toss. I had all of the women grab for them, not just the unmarried ones. It was really fun!

I GET MY PROFESSIONAL PIX TODAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!
We're going to try to zoom down there in a few. I am not doing to much else today because my Aunt died (we got married on her bday, and she wasn't able to come because she had fallen). I called in to work (I do have to go to a meeting about christmas at 8pm thought) and told them I had to stay home. I just didn't feel like working.
In other news, When I talked to the photographer on the phone, he said to me that he and the DJ had this conversation at the wedding
before my ceremony:
DJ: guess what happened to me today?
Photographer: what?
DJ: My wife left me.
I'm sorry that she did, and I can imagine him not being up to par from that, but I am only having ONE wedding, and one of the company's things is that they always have backup dj's. This was my one big party of my life (for the time being) and it just got messed up.

I really loved how much all of my girls were into helping me. I knew that they would be (that's why i chose them!) but it was so sweet!

Shawna, they all went above and beyond all I ever expected my bridesmaids to do. They decorated, set up chairs, watched kids, made food, wrapped the bouquets, pampered me all day and were at my total beck and call! It was so cool! I hope you are still online, because I have more pix to post here in a sec! I might be a little slow, since I had champange and eggnogg with brandy..*hic!*
