I know there are several other ladies here trying to grow their hair out for the wedding...

well about a month before we set the date i chopped ALL my hair off (about 10-12 inches) b/c i needed a change... of course a few weeks later FH finally wants to set a date n wants it sooner rather than later :irked:

well to the point of the thread: does anyone have any good tips/tricks to growing out ur hair?

i cut my hair in december to about the nape of my neck n it's just at my shoulders @ this point... i think i'm going to get my hair trimmed soon just to get the dead ends off (i'm gettin the "frizzy halo" as FH calls it so its time for a trim)

i've been tryin to only blow-dry my hair when i'm going out n avoiding styling products except when necessary....

i know there's no magical hair growth cure but maybe some ladies on here have some things that may help me a bit... i hate the length of my hair right now n it needs to get past it... it flips out in weird ways b/c of where its hitting my shoulders n i'm not likin it:irked:

This will help your nails as well (remember they are pretty much made out of the same stuff), but take pre-natal vitamins. I don't know if it will grow faster, but it will be healthier and stronger. That will allow you to tirm less often. Supposedly Mane & Tail (a horse shampoo and conditioner that tons of people use) helps faciliatate growth, but I don't see how. It has to grow from the root, inside the scalp. It can't hurt though!

I'm growing my hair out as well--I cut mine super short a week before Matt proposed. Sheesh!!
I'm at work now (I do hair) so I don't have lots of time but I'll get on here sometime soon and tell you what the best things are to get the healthiest growth you can! :)

Okay I'm back....sorry it's taken a few days!
First off--the fewer the heat tools you use on your hair the better! But if you do blowdry, put a serum or a blow dry lotion through your hair to protect if from the heat and to help with frizz. That will make a big difference. And if you flat iron or curl your hair make sure to use a spray that is designed to be used before you use any hot tools--such as redken hot sets or chi iron guard. Don't use hairspray before you flat iron, that will extremely dry your hair out.
As far as vitamins go, just a regular multi-vitamin will do. Supplement that with biotin (I use 5000mcg) and gelatin (at least 10 grain). Biotin and gelatin are wonderful to add strength to your hair. You'll also see a difference in your skin and nails too. Biotin is believed to also make your hair grow at it's maximum rate, but honestly hair grows on average a half of an inch a month. Some people get more, some get less. You probably won't notice your hair growing like crazy but it will be much healthier so you'll need fewer trims which equals longer hair! :)
Also, try not to pull your hair up in tight ponytails or up in any kind of messy bun/ponytail because that will put unneccesary stress and tension on your hair which will cause breakage.
If you need any recommendations on hair products let me know and I'll tell you the ones I like best.

ETA: Also make sure your diet is healthy--don't rely on only the multi-vitamin!

I honestly think your hair will grow by May of next year. I chopped my hair off a little over a year ago (just past shoulders and it was BTW, not what I wanted!) I got hair cuts (trims) about once every 8 weeks and it grew about 5-6 inches in the last year. Of course, I didn't take vitamins, and used a blow dryer and flat iron (without any serum), but I think it will be pleanty long. Plus, you don't want it too long, because sometimes its harder to do an updo or style with longer hair.
