So instead of the clanking of the glasses at the reception to get us to kiss FH & I have decided on having a putting green since we are incorporating a golf theme for FH & the reception is at the Golf & Country Club.

Now, I've read online about people doing this and that in is more entertaining if there is a consequence for those that miss.

Do you think I should just do a regular putting green, if they get it in then we kiss, if not too bad?

Or do you think if they miss they should have to do something?

And if you think they should do something if they miss, what types of things should I do?

Hey!

I thought that it's a great idea - and I actually asked the board the same question a while ago!!! Here's what they said:

The thread isn't about the putting idea, but it's part of it...

Thanks I remember that thread.

Did you end up doing the putting or no?

What a cute idea. :) DH and I have a little bit of an "evil" streak, so we'd probably have consequences...LOL :)

No, we just did the traditional clinking of glasses.

I still think the putting thing is a cute idea though!

Thanks ladies - I'm torn and don't really know what to do!?!

I'm afraid with the clinking I'd get a headache/migraine so that is why I don't want it done.

I know what your plan is with using this putting green idea, but be prepared for your guests to clink the glasses despite what you have planned...unless you replace all the metal silverware with plastic, and replace all the glasses with plastic as well.

I've been to receptions where it was communicated not to clink the glasses to get them to kiss, and to do something else, and the clinking happened anyway. I think it's just so ingrained in us as Americans for some reason...

Ohhhh but I'm Canadian...lol

But I know what you mean.

My cousin and his wife did something different and people respected their wishes so I'm hoping the same can be said for us.

I think its a great idea, because I agree, the clinking of the glasses is going to get so annoying. I wish we could come up with something cleaver to do!

As for missing, what if they had to kiss the guest they brought or put in a dollar or quarter into a jar or something?

LOL! Alrighty, point taken! Yes...we Americans do tend to be a bit headstrong with tradition, despite what people may wish. ;)

Unfortunately we have a lot of people coming as 1 and no guest. They are married but their spouse isn't coming - having a girls night etc....so I don't think that would work....but it would be better if there were more pairs.

I may just straight up do the putting.....hmmm
