So recently (and when I say recently, I mean a month ago now!), dh and I bought a new refrigerator for our new house. Or so we thought we did.

7/4: Paul and I order a new refrigerator from Lowes. The fridge is not in stock, so it will be delivered on 7/11.

7/10: I get a message from Lowes stating that our fridge is in but there is a scratch on it. They want to know if we want to wait for a new one or take the old one with the scratch at a discount. I call the store - after a lengthy conversation with a salesman, I find out that the fridge was NEVER ORDERED and they were trying to give us the floor model. No, no. We state that we want to wait for our fridge to come in - the one we ordered - a new one. We are told it will be delivered on 7/18.

7/15: I call Lowes to confirm that all is going as planned. I speak to a saleswoman who informs me that our slated delivery date is 7/30. Oh no, no, no. I speak to a manager and explain the situation, that our fridge *was* due in on the 18th. She looks into it. Come to find out, these fridges are backordered, and we MAY get one on the 30th at the very earliest. The manager informs us that she will call and put a rush on OUR order. We concede (what else can we do?!). :irked:

7/21: I call the store to see if the rush had gotten us anywhere. I am informed that it hasn't, and that they are going to give us a floor model to use in the meantime, to be delivered the following day. We set it up and sign papers to ensure that we *still eventually* get OUR fridge - our NEW fridge.

7/22: I get a call from Lowes. Our new fridge will be arriving tomorrow. Sheesh... that's a relief. As a thank-you, they offer to credit our account 10% of the purchase price (NICE!).

Think it's over?

The fridge was originally put on dh's debit card. When the manager calls to credit us the 10%, I do not have dh's debit card info on me, so I give her my debit card info. I am so happy to be getting $150 added to my checking account!

7/23: We get the fridge... it's beautiful!

7/25: I happen to check my account online - I am $555 in the hole and have $245 in overdraft fees! WTF?!!?!?!!

Come to find out, instead of crediting my account 10%, they credited dh's account 100% and CHARGED my account 90%, for a net of 10% discount. GRRRRR! My account was frozen, so I could not transfer funds online... Had to wait until this morning to get my bank account re-opened!!!

The silver lining.... Lowes refunded us $245 to cover the overdraft fees, and after my bank heard about what happened, they erased the overdraft fees! So I am $245 richer after all of this!!

I think we deserve it :-P

Wow, what a run around! Glad you got everything straightened out - I would have FLIPPED if that happened in my checking account! Glad they tried to make everything right though - a lot of companies wouldn't have bothered.

WOW, I would be beyond POed! Customer service is no where near where it should be in this country. Glad you got it settled.

Don't ever go to Russia. What Kristin described is almost normal there...

My host family used to have a lot of problems, where if someone they were dealing with made an error, they were told, "Deal with it".

I'm glad it got settled, but what a headache!

I've heard that before! Something about products being really hard to get, and when you do get them, you take what you can get!

I didn't even realize it was 1 month today!!!!!

Oh my goodness. I'm thinking you had WAY more patience with them than I would have. I'm glad everything got straightened out. I definitely think you deserve the boost to your account!:winktongue:

Geez, what a pain! You think they would have told you that, in order to give you 10%, they were actually going to charge you 90% ... good cr@p! But, at least you're one fridge and 245 dollars richer!

(And, not to steal the thread, I am D-O-N-E shopping at Lowe's. Every time I go in there is a problem. But the thing they told you with do you want to take the one with a scratch on it, man did that ring a bell. My mom ordered new doors there last fall and they kept pushing off and pushing off when she'd get them, then they finally told her that her doors were in but the one for the garage was scratched, and should they just install that one and wait for a new one? She was like no, you're going to get a new one, scratch-free, as quickly as possible and put it in. After a lot of dragging it out and my mom finally going to the BBB, we got our doors and she got some money back... but good grief! Boo Lowe's!)

That's terrible..
The Lowe's here has never done anything like that to us..(We ordered french doors for the patio a year ago, and they came in the following week).

But, I'm sorry that happened - I'm sure you did, but if you didn't I would report it to their national customer service line (even though they technically amended the situation with the refund - corporate would love to know they just lost $245, essentially selling a fridge at half price.)

Customer service in a lot of companies has started slacking - as layoffs continue, and in order to profit in the long run, they are cutting what they consider 'fat'...

Sorry you had this issue, but glad yall got it all worked out!
