View Full Version : Boo Hooooo :(
So Matt and I traded in the Pathfinder for a 2004 F-150 crew cab Lariat, 4x4. We've had it for 12 days and we got a letter today stating that they can't finance us and they're going to give us back the Pathfinder and I need to return the Ford :(
Matt fell in love with this truck. I know it's not meant to be, and I'm kinda relieved as it started running on 7 cylinders when it's supposed to run on 8. So, I'm kinda glad it's going back.. However, this just means that we're stuck with the Pathy for awhile longer because if the Ford dealership can't finance us, I don't know if anyone will :irked:
Uggggggg.
all thingshappen for a reason............:)
I couldn't agree more! I'm relieved.... even more relieved today. Matt's kinda depressed though :( poor guy.

Sorry that happened; you would think they would have worked it out before they let you leave with the new car.

Oh well... we had a new truck for almost 2 weeks LOL.

I can't believe they let you leave before they knew they could finance you. What if you had done any major changes to the truck!?
Hahaaaa... the story gets better.
I just got off the phone with the person who signed the letter I received stating to bring the truck back. He said "Oh, that's just a generic letter that gets sent out if you're not financed within 10 days, no need to bring it back, I'm not done trying to finance you". WTF!!!! Come ON PEOPLE! I got bills to pay! Not only that, the pathfinder payment is late (11 days so far), and won't get paid till they decide to pay it, or I get it back and I pay it. If they don't pay it before the 10th of Aug, I get a delinquency on my credit unless I just pay it myself. Well, that's $240 that I don't have if I'm going to be keeping the ford.
Also, I had the Ford on my insurance, then when I got that letter I called back the insurance company and put the pathfinder on and took the ford off. I can't get ANYTHING done without knowing what is going on.
The guy said I should know by Thurs if I'm getting financed or not. HELLO - it's been TWO WEEKS. UGGGGGGGHHHHHH.
ETA: I don't even want the truck anymore... I'm really hoping they don't get us financed.
I have never heard of anything like that!
I can't believe that they'd take a car/give a car without the paperwork being finalized, especially after almost 2 weeks.
Here, I had traded my car in, bought a new one, had the paperwork done and new the payment dates and amounts in like a day.

Same with me. The dealership also got my new plate took the paper work to the RMV and did the inspection for me. So you who technically owns the Ford? What happens if you get pulled over or something?

sadly, dealerships actually have 30 days to finance you, thats why so many people don't have a 1st car payment for 30-45 days.....
i ended up having to buy a friends car b/c a dealership sent them a similar letter, so they went to another dealership, and got another car and got financed the same day....well, then after 3 weeks, they got a letter of finance from wells fargo:bbeek:...leaving them with *3* cars! so i took 1 of their sentras(they ended up with 2(wife had 1, he bought a truck when the $ for the 2nd sentra fell out)....
also, YOU only have like 3-5 days to take the car back, and mostly only if you haven't got financed yet....sucks huh?! i think it's a HORRIBLE practice:irked:
also-the reason it was running on 7 cylinders, is because alot of vehicles after 2000, were made to run on less cylinders at higher speeds, to reduce fuel use.....most companies are doing that, but i believe that chrysler is the only 1 that does it with all of their vehicles now(sorry, i worked for chrysler a couple years ago-had to learn alot about "competition")....also if that particular model doesn't have that feature, then the dealership is responsible for it ;)
as for making your payment, unfortunately, until the dealership pays your car off, you're still responsible for the remaining balance...that really sucks i know, but like you said, you could take a "ding" for it...HOWEVER, make sure of 1 thing: that they DO NOT sell the pathfinder before they finance the truck...because alot of times, there's nothing you can do...our friends traded in her paid off tahoe(that had a cash value of like 20k!), and got a suburban, and tried to return the suburban w/in the 3 day "remorse period", and found they'd already sold her truck:bbeek:...now, they have a 715 pymt, on a 4 year old truck(that was 2 1/2 years old when they bought it)....and now, the 'burb is only worth like 12, and they owe over 20 for that
Danielle, the Dealership is still legally the owner.
Jess - it's not due to the selectable cylinder option that it's running on 7 cylinders. I guarantee it's not something that's 'supposed' to happen. Selectable cylinders only run on even cylinders ie: 2, 4, 6, 8 etc. The problem is that the spark plug coil went out and we don't know which one it is. Because it's not throwing a code, we can't find out which one it is without replacing all 8 of them.... at $40 a pop!
Oh, and plus plus for us... trade in value on that truck NOW is $14k... which leaves us upside down the SAME amount we were upside down with the pathfinder - this is GOOD :)

Wow...that's a crazy scenario! I've never heard of anything like that happening before!
Well, Matt and I are on our way to the dealership to finalize all of this. I have a letter form them saying to return it. Generic or not, it's signed and dated, so I'm going to try to hold them to their word - wish me luck!!!
Well... we went there and told the guy we weren't leaving till we had an answer - we ended up driving the Pathfinder home. I'm *so* relieved. I loved the truck, but if we had kept it, I could have kissed TTC goodbye for sure - and probably at least for another 18 months or so. So.. I'm totally relieved, and Matt is totally depressed. Ugh. Poor guy :(
