New mods, and forums rolling in, cast them votes!

As I talked about two months ago I wanted to start appointing some members as Mods of the forums.

It's been a bit busy since then so I had put it on the back burner until today, after hearing that Ultimate Weddings is closing their forums permanently.

With that said, I think our membership is about to explode because of it, and as more brides try to find a new home and new/old friends.

As most know Onewed’s wedding chat board is one of the most friends online wedding communities that there is, and we except everyone as long as they don’t come a spamming or a spitting in our face when they join the board, as well as we are the only forums they pay our members to post along with the occasional contest (Hoping to have more soon!).

As of today Im going to start offering some of the Senior Members the position of Moderator as they have built a long turn reputation on the board as well as respect.

Before I can do that I must instill some words of wisdom!

To become a moderator is more then just being a member with “Supper Powers”, you must be able to see that many members come from many ways of life and have many deferent views on things. Some members may not always agree with others, and yes they may have a flame here and their. But like any community one must learn to play nice with each other even when they don’t see eye-to-eye.

As a Mod, you must learn to step away from your friendships, and maybe your views sometimes, and look at the overall problem from a logical view as if you are a judge.

If you jump to quick, or say the wrong thing. You can not only hurt your reputation, but also the forums reputation as we instilled our trust in you as a Mod to uphold the good nature of the forums, and help other users when help is needed.

Some may think I have been here since the beginning of time, but I was handed the responsibility of forum administrator around 3 years ago.

My job at the time was not only to do my daily programming around Onewed Networks, but also take our messily forums from its 50 some users to one of the most popular forums around.

At that time, and still today it is a large undertaking to manage the forums and to be able to see when one needs to add more forums groups, ban users, and delete post/threads, or add and remove services.

So remember when you take on the position of a moderator you are not only helping your community, you are also playing a roll in directing the future of the forums, and my baby!

Now that you got all that good stuff, I am looking for 3-5 senior members that want the position. If I get more then that I will put together a poll and allow the community to vote on the top 5 who will get the token of Onewed Mod.

If you don’t get it don’t panic as if all goes well we probably will need more mods very soon, and remember if you do become a Mod I am always here to help you on anything, that goes the same for everyone else. ;)

On to other things:

I have gotten a request by katieandalex, and a couple other members in the last couple months to add some more forum groups.

As most know around Dec 2005 we added 5 new groups, and some time this year we added 3 more.

The same rules apply as last time, we need x amount of post on a topic to make a forum group, that way we don’t have empty forums running around.

So yall girls find 1-10 topics that you all talk about that is related to weddings and Ill make you some more groups. Sounds good?

I would love to see a few more forums around too but since I am an old married lady I will leave the voting to the girls who need it and want to make their choices!! I would like to apply for position of "mod" but I am not sure how much longer I will be around these neck of the woods because of some issues. Nice!! yeah I have to go for a while. My hubby and I are moving into a holiday trailer to help out his family on the farm...holiday trailer means no internet! But we're not sure yet when that will be....possibly in August...not totally sure! I would love to help you out though Levi until that time comes! :)

I'd love to see the wedding journals divided up into years by wedding (2006 wedding, 2007 wedding, 2008 wedding, etc) just so that people are easier to find. I think journals are some of the most useful parts of these kinds of forums.

Also, a Bridesmaid/Groomsmen forum to discuss attire/choosing of the bridal party. And the etiquette surrounding same.

Um....I had some other useful ones that I'm not thinking of right now.

OH! A separate forum for FAQ/rules/questions and newbies. An introduction board is great for integrating new people into a forum.

What about making it easier to post pics.....didnt see where that was mentioned. I use photobucket now, but sometimes I cant get the pics to download, so then I cant post them here.
ETA - I would also be interested in a Mod job, but would we be assigned to certian hours? Im usually on M-F 9-5 on and off all day. Evenings and weekends it depends on what we have going on. I could make it a point to check in on things, but I dont know that I could guarantee certain hours everyday.

I love the idea for a weight loss forum and also the newbee forum. This way the new people can "sign in" and we can see who everyone is and a little bit of info on each person.
Also, like Cindy mentioned. Is there an easier way to post pictures? I have so many problems with photobucket some days, that I would love and easier way to post more pictures.
I would also be interested in helping out by being a moderator. I'm here enough so as it is!

Hmm now a couple of idea's that I have seen on boards and just that idea's of my own

We could have a theme of the week where everyweek someones chooses a theme that someone is having for their wedding and we all look for pics and idea's for that theme??

We could have a seperate place for the wedding games since we like them so much :D

Maybe we could have a health & beauty section that has weight loss, make up and facial questions??

A calendar/countdown section so we can keep check on who is getting married next?

l3vi, I am on another forum that lets you attach a pic from your computer to the post (host it on the server) where it is visible in the post. Is this something that could be done here? They also have TONS more smilies and you can post as many as you want ;)

This is a matter of aesthetics sort of, but I think it might be nice to have sticky posts at the top of some of the forums with like a permanent thread for people to display their wedding dresses/bridesmaid dresses/centerpiece ideas/cakes/whatever. It really helps for people to get ideas!

Also, somewhere a list of photo services (photobucket, etc) that work on this board, so people know what works and what doesn't with the photo services. :)

The mod stuff was been planned from a couple months back, and the new forums are the only quick change really. But well needed them as we did have a lot of post on many topics just being pushed into other forums when they could have their own forum.

I agree, Brandi, the traffic is the hardest thing for me to get used to. I love the changes to the look though.
