Hi all!! :hi:
This was one of the things I was most excited about when joining this site! (Well, this and the wedding binder :) )

Anyway, so I guess I should start off with a little background!

In the beginning: there were many

Brian and I met my Sophomore year of college at the University of Georgia. He had just transferred from a 2-year school (He had his Associate's in Wildlife Biology and was getting his BSA in Turfgrass Management). His former boss (whom he had worked with for three years at that point) was friends with the Manager of the UGA Beef and Sheep farm for the Animal and Dairy Science Department. I just happened to be an Animal Science major (emphasis in Production/meat market/ Meat sciece.. NOT vet. ). My best friend and biggest buddy worked with him at the farm.

A club of ours had traditional bonfires:
-The beginning of the semester
- After every football game
- One before finals, every day of finals (since some of us were done the first day)

At the first bonfire of the semester, I met Brian. I was not interested in a serious relationship. My bf of 4 years cheated on me after I had been away at college for just a month. Since then, I was on a "tease 'em and leave 'em" rampage. But something about him really got to me. And it scared the **** out of me. He ended up drinking that night, so I drove him to his apartment (which was inside the sheep barn). As I was dropping him off he gave me his number. My phone screen was not working.. so he made me repeated it to him forwards ... and backwards.. twice. Then he said "You better use that number." Gave me a kiss on the cheek, invited me in one last time, and got out of the car. I went back to my apartment, swore he was trouble, and wrote him off. Because I was that tough. :P

Anyway, long story short, I had not internet at the horse barn apartment I lived in, but I had satellite, he had internet, but no Cable or satellite... So towards the end of that semester, I would go to his apartment to do homework, and he would come to mine to watch Robot Chicken.

We ended up being "together", although we both had committment issues. If he would have come up to me one day back then and said "So, lets make it official" I would have run away. When he graduated in '07, he bought a house (a week before he graduated!! He already had a good job at a nice golf course). I moved in with him while I was doing my internship. At the end of that summer, he broke it off (again). I went back to school, eventually stopped calling him, etc.
All of a sudden, I get a call from him saying, "Why don't you come down this weekend? Raelynn misses you," (Raelynn is our Bloodhound :) ). I debated.. decided I had left some cookware, and went down. I was going to leave that Sunday, but he ended up being all sweet right as I started packing - telling me that he couldn't believe how much he missed me, he was wrong, etcetc.

I made it tough for him, though. I wasn't making it easy at all. He had to call ME, instead of me doing all the work. He had to vist me at least once every two months ( I would visit him on every other weekend - my weekends off). Basically, he had to put some effort into it or I was out. That December 1, 2007 - we made our "Gf/Bf" relationship official.. Hah xD

I graduated from the University of Georgia in August of '08. I got a job, moved in with him... and we were engaged on July 11th, 2009. (Story is in another section..)

PHEW!

I'll have more about venues, colors, dress styles I so far like, etc later today.. Expense reporting awaits!!

Where? How? WHEN??!?!?

So, when we first got engaged, we both said "2-3 years sounds good." I mean, it took us two years to decide we were in a relationship.. another two to get engaged.. why not continue the trend? And by two years I was thinking, two full years.

I knew the wedding would be in Spring or Fall. Therefore, I was thinking Fall '11 or Spring '12. Summer was out because my FH works on a Golf Course - 80+ hours, EASY a week - their busiest time. Heaven forbid he go a day without checking on his precious greens to make sure they didn't die... and he didn't lose his job. :ooh: Winter could be done in Georgia (The past three years I've worn a T-shirt on Christmas Day), but he's very much into landscape, obviously, and I'm just into keeping him happy when he actually speaks up about something for the wedding.

I was talking to him about it YESTERDAY saying "This is what I think.." Well, all of a sudden its "It has to be Spring. We're not having a wedding on a weekend that the Bulldogs are playing football or I could be hunting."
Then (I swear, he has the broad scheme planned out way more than I do..) he says "Plus, the Spring would be perfect for Deep Sea Fishing for the honeymoon." He's thinking deep sea fishing - I'm thinking every day on the ocean, on a boat, a nice exotic location... YES!! Win-win.

So I go "Okay, Spring of 2012 it is" Because this whole time (this whole time being one whole week of engagement) I'm thinking I have over two years to plan. But nooooo, he wants me to be just a touch more stressed.. "Lets just go ahead and do it in 2011." AH! I'm going to be on the road for another years and you want me to plan a wedding while I'm at it?!?!?!?

..Okay, we'll do that.

So.. Now, I have a year and a season... I need a venue. A venue with beautiful flowers that bloom in the Spring. An outside venue, with some history to it... And a classic-rustic feel, to appease both of my sides - the one that went to Debutante Balls and the one that loves working outside, sweating, stinking to high heaven, clipping sheep and steers and playing on tractors. And I don't want to give up my first born son to get it.

..This is going to be hard. I did think about the place we got engaged (is that taboo?)

They have three ceremony spots:
The Chapel:
http://callawaygardens.org/foundation/SiteAssets/images/main/hero.gardens.chapel.jpg

The Sibley Horticulture Center:

(I can't find a good picture.. But its GORGEOUS.. I have on somewhere of inside the gazebo area..)
http://www.callawaygardens.com/Callaway/SiteAssets/images/main/hero.events.weddings.jpg

And the Discovery Center (which I don't think I'm a fan of at all)

The downfall is limited seating - and a four hour drive for my elderly grand- and great-grandparents :(

I would, of course, try to get them a hotel - but my Grandfather is now in a nursing home with Parkinson's :sob: .. New subject.. I hate not being able to just get in my car and go see them like I did when I worked in Georgia..

Anyway.. It's so difficult for me to find a place that has the feeling I want..

More to come later...

So, I almost got to the point yesterday where I thought I would just have to settle as far as the venue goes. :( I even called up the FH and told him we should just elope and save the money :D

Anyway, out of nowhere I ran across a place that was.. 100% exactly what I wanted:

http://www.markelkinsphotography.com/blog/?tag=georgia

Audrey and Zane - second couple down. Absolutely .. everything I ever imagined.

BUT - its privately owned, and my grandparents would have a 6 hour roundtrip - which would not be fair at all.. I did contact the photographer who is going to ask into it.. Although, since it's a family-owned area, I'm sure I'll get a "no" answer.. It's for the best anyway. ..But, that is the wedding venue of my dreams... :sob:

Of course, though, if there is one there has to be one more.. somewhere.. right?? I found an area that may work - and (bonus!) equal distance from my house, FH's family, My parents, AND my granparents! 1.5 hours from each (roughly)!! That means I wouldn't worry about the grandparents driving far at night :)

The pics on the website are not good at all, though (which is why I passed it up the first time I saw it) however, when I saw some pro. photography, the fields like amazing..

So, my plan so far is an outdoor wedding in Spring (March? April? FH will be uber busy in May :/ Plus, the gnats in south georgia would be killer by May) - any suggestions on a website for putting palettes together??

Pretty much, I grew up thinking that mud was the new black (something my mom absolutely hated :) ).. So, I'm fashionally challeneged.. I've looked through magazines, websites, etc but haven't found exactly what I need.

I'm relying on the colors and decorations to add elegance to any location I choose.

Any suggestions??? Thank you!! And if anyone is actually reading - thank you for that!! This is just really helping me put things down as I think about them - even if it is a whole heckuva lot at one time and jumping around!

Pineola Farms:

The one that is equal distance from everyone:

http://www.jennyevelynphoto.com/blog/?p=1191

Funny thing?
I told my fiance I've always wanted to use Mason Jars at the wedding :) I had a 1/2 gallon one as a tea pitcher and have always loved using the 1/2 pints as glasses...

Outside wedding, same location - completely different than I would do it..

I'm liking it more the more I look at pictures of it...

Yay for getting an actual day off!!! The first in over two months!!

Thanks everyone!! Hopefully I'll get more pictures this weekend.

No, I don't have the colors picked out yet - I want something cool, though. But I don't think I want to do many pastels. I did think about grey and pale pink, but I think I'm leaning more towards golds and yellows with maybe a little bit of green?

I have no idea.. I'm horrible at this kind of stuff :(

Anyplace you can go to put palettes together on the web?

I would suggest googling "wedding inspiration boards" and look through the images.

Here's a link :

As far as the bouquet goes.. I'm torn.

The first time I ever saw a bouquet of peonies, roses, and tulips - I was in love ..

But I also love the idea of a wildflower bouquet.

I wonder if we could combine the two into a timeless bouquet.. since I'm going to have charms around the bouquet as well..

Just decided to peak in at your journal! LOVE The Cotton Barn and the idea of the mason jars. I'm a bit partial to them too!

As far as the flowers go, you may want to consider what is in season and what isn't for the time of year you are considering!

Love what your thinkin' so far...can't wait to hear/see more!

I think I will actually put FH in charge of the flowers!! Haha.. Between his degree and landscaping jobs on the side, he knows whats in seaspn.. not to mention he made me a pretty bouquet for Valentine's Day this year (Roses and Tulips.. Tulips are my favorite :whoohoo:)
Plus, we are so similar when it comes to that stuff.. I know he'll hear what I'm saying and make it work :)

So..

Dresses...

This is me at my sisters wedding (second one from the Bride)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v59/val04/val.jpg

Ugh.. Two years ago.. When I didn't have to work out because I work 40+ hours on a farm....
Anyway.. So I sent a list of dresses out for family members to look at.. Since I can't slow down right now to go try any on..

These are the top three that were chosen:
http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/5350/dressueu.png
http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/2753/dress3.png
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/9098/dress2.png

Anyway.. So, I like them all.. I'm short (5'1.5) and my legs are much longer than my upper body, so those are things I have to keep in mind when buying a dress.. These are just styles I'm keeping in mind when I finally get a chance to go look at desses.

Plus. I figure if I look at them now - I can keep a close eye and catch them on sale..

PS

Why do bridal gown models in magazines tend to have such a not-happy look on their face??

I mean.. are you going to buy a wedding dress that makes a girl look constipated??

On a different note:

I'm trying to read as many journals as possible.. And I'm loving them!!

If any of you July/August ladies are reading - CONGRATS.. And I hope you enjoy these last few days as a Bride-to-be, and your wedding is flawless..

First of all my dear, you have NOTHING to worry about! You are going to be a gorgeous bride!

Second, as far as the magazine ads go - I never understood that! Some ads make the brides look like a corpse - as if dead was in for your wedding?!

Thank you.. I absolutely hated my hair that day.. Gross...

But, that's why I'll be hiring my own person to do mine ;D

And lol!- yeah the corpse chic look is very popular in the magazines

Favors, etc:

I have no idea what to do about favors.. At all.. My sister (the one I posted a pic of earlier) had the whole candy bar/buffet thing, which was cute and all.. But.. I don't want a repeat of Tapley and Hitchcock '07, you know?

I've found some cute wine stoppers with hearts on the top, and whisks and measuring spoons shapes like hearts..

For something way more personal, I think we are going to make our own muscadine wine and make personalized labels.

But my BIL's family is completely non-alcoholic, so I have to get something they would consider "tasteful" as well.

Also, how on earth did you go about choosing your bridesmaids? Every since I graduated college, I don't feel close to my college friends anymore. I know my two sisters will be in it.. but.. ugh.. So difficult,

MrsDM
07-23-2009, 02:44 PM
As far as chosing bridesmaids, I only have my best friend and cousin standing up. My friend is getting married in a couple of months and she has 5 people on each side. I guess it kinda depends on your wedding and the feel you want. I really wanted an intimate day and wanted to walk up to everyone and say "hi, how are you!?" Versus, "who are you?"

Could you do some type of grape juice or something for the non-alcoholic? That way you still can do the wine, and don't have to single out anyone who prefers not to have the alcohol in it.

I agree with Jeanne too. Pick the people you WANT standing up next to you, and if it is only your sisters so be it. There is nothing wrong with only having a select few, and it could possibly be a lot less drama by keeping with only a couple of bridesmaids.

We went to the Cotton Barn early this morning.. and it was GORGEOUS!

They have several different options as far as where the actual ceremony can take place - 12 acres of Pecan orchard, a garden with a sunflower backdrop, another closed garden around the back porch of the antebellum house, the front yard between two HUGE Cedars.. I mean like 200 year old cedars, and of course, the barn.

I really like the idea of using the tree lines as an aisle.. The barn accommodates 150 people at most, so we're going to have to get a tentative guest list together ASAP to decide if we want to put the 25% deposit down (which would be $1250).

It kind of makes me sick to my gut that its $5000. I wanted a super cheap wedding - but then I think about it.. That $5000 covers the whole 12 acres, for rehearsal and wedding day (including reception), the antebellum house to get ready in, tables, chairs, and some basic decorations if we would like to use them, the barn has AC, nice restrooms, a VERY nice kitchen, and, if needed, they have a bartender on staff, so we wouldn't have to spend money on one.. also includes cake cutting and other basics.
It's not that we can't afford it.. I guess, though, if that's the biggest expense we have, I'll be happy :)

So, I'm trying to decide if its worth it or not.. Luckily, I have a little time to think about it.
There's a state park somewhere that has a waterfall, and a lot of weddings under the waterfall.. Hmmm..

I know prices and all are all over the place.. But does that one sound reasonable at all??

..Maybe we should just bushhog my MIL's lot :whyme:

Also - a good friend of mine from College (Someone I was very close to because of circumstance - you know, when you meat someone who somehow manages to have the same exact problems as you.. relationship wise, financially, academically, etc) and we kind of lost touch. However, the last couple of weeks she has been pretty much my only go-to person about the wedding.
Anyway - Her cousin is a photographer!! She has a website, and I haven't seen any of her weddings yet, but I have seen some couple's sessions (although I definitely need to see more)
The only packages she has listed are for $125 - $300, but none of those are for weddings. My friend is supposed to be getting back to me with some more pics to look at.. and a price estimate :)

Also - since walking the place and remembering how I want my wedding day to be, I've calmed a bit about colors. I know I want it to have a classy, timeless feel.. Chic rustic without the 'cheap'

So, my focus is a little more narrow.

Side note:

I went home for a weekend (first time seeing FH since the engagement) - and we had an AMAZING weekend (which is why you didn't hear from me). We went fishing in the dark until 4:30 am Friday night, relaxed and cleaned house on Saturday, took a trip to the hunting land and the possible wedding site today, and stopped in at a state park we've never been to (we'll plan to float the river there the next time I'm home!!)
I love him.. he makes me so happy :soppy:

I had to fly out today.. so now, I'm chilaxing in the hotel room..

MrsDM

Wow..sounds like you had an awesome weekend!! I'm glad you and FH were able to spend some time together!

Here was my thing when looking at venues: its hard to put a price on the "perfect" one. I tried to shop around for the best prices for everything with the wedding, but I guess you get married once (not saying that going into debt is the way to go, but you get it ;))

So, I say, if you love the place, go for it!!! :) Do you guys have to have it catered then?

Thank you!

Your venue sounds pretty good, and this is coming from another ultra inexpensive bride :) It sounds like you are getting your money's worth much more than other places would allow.

We're doing it at the County park near a lake. We found a lodge that cost us $435, now it's going for $495. But that's the space for 8 hours. It has air conditioning, a nice kitchen (It seems we both value this ;)), lots of space.

If you don't spend the money on the venue, what else would you put towards? What would you need to pay to get the services you want? Are you paying for things that you don't want with this venue? Do they offer food too, or would that be another expense? Is it pretty enough that lots of decorations are not needed?

It looks like you've got a great start on your planning though! :)

FutureMrsWilson

Just made a tentative guest list.

Since the venue I want only allows 150 people, my max is 75. I'm at 66.

Working on FH's list - we have a lot of mutual friends, but we both also have BIG families...

If it's too hard to keep it below 150, I'm just going to have to find another venue. 160, I can deal with, as I'm sure I will have some "no's"..

There is also the option of having no kids, aside from the flower girl and ring bearer (my niece and a friend's son, and the friend is going to be a groomsman). If I did that, it would open up over 15 spots.

I'm sure my mom has it in her head that I need to invite so-n-so and such-and-such, but I don't want people there I've never talked to, just because she played Bunko and Tennis with them. :irked:

Hm.. that's all for now.. Going to look at some color schemes :D

You know, my florist told me awhile ago that about 30% don't show up. I thought she was crazy since most everyone who we were inviting were close family and friends who knew of the wedding and were excited, etc. She was right. Although we probably won't hit 30%, it will still be about 15% that doesn't show up. So even if you are a bit over, I think you will definitely be fine with inviting them!!

I just ran into your journal.. everything looks FABOULOUS!!!

I LOVE the cotton barn.. beautiful! Makes me wish I had a fall wedding.
as for figuring out who my bm and gm were, I asked two friends I grew up with and my sister. We also asked my dh brother and two of my close male friends and his cousin. We had four on each side.
As for your location $5000 sounds like quite the deal. I think what you are getting for that price is awsome. I would jump on it! But you have take in the fact if your getting it catored how much that is going to cost. But I think its one heck of a deal. We paid that price just for our reception!
As for inviting people.. we invited 211 people, 150 showed up. So I think you can leave some wiggle room as to who you invite. Just becarefull. the more the word gets out the more people are going to want to come. So sooner or later you will have to start saying "NO" and that's the hard part of plainning a wedding. I love what you have so far, it's going to be exciting to see how your wedding will turn out.

I love what you have so far, it's going to be exciting to see how your wedding will turn out.

Thank you!!

And thanks for the reassurance on the venue. :) Like I said, we CAN afford it, I was just wanting to pull of a super cheap wedding. Plus, we have plenty of time to pay off without even thinking about going into debt.

As for saying "No", I already know there are a lot of people who might expect to get invited, but won't. I think I can explain to them the situation and it be okay. ..Or at least use the person count as a "reason" :D

So, even though me and the FH just got into a bit of a argument (being on the road 10x more than your home can do that to you :( especially when he's watching TV instead of listening to the fact that I'm scheduled to work 15 hours tomorrow.)

AAAnyway -

Another journal got me thinking about our first dance song - I want to do a traditional style dance at first, and then do something choreographed, though I'm not quite sure just what we'll be doing yet.

The two traditional type songs are classic country: Don Williams - "I Believe in You" and Tom T. Hall "I Love"
("I love little baby ducks, old pick-up trucks, slow-moving trains, and rain
I love little country streams, sleep without dreams, sunday school in may,
And hay
And i love you too

I love leaves in the wind, pictures of my friends, birds in the world, and squirrels
I love coffee in a cup, little fuzzy pups, bourbon in a glass, and grass and i love you too

I love honest open smiles, kisses from a child, tomatoes on the vine, and onions
I love winners when they cry, losers when they try, music when it's good, and life
And i love you too")
Aaand that's the whole song.. I love it.. It may not sound like much.. but its peeerfect. If we don't use it for the first dance, I'd like to use it in the slide show.

What else did I think about today?
Oh, yeah, I think we decided to have kids stay at home (or with grandparents, or a babysitter, or Neighbor Nancy)

I definitely want one of those Initial Cake Toppers - but I haven't seen a W that I like yet. And I just want a nice silver one.. that I could end up using to decorate the Kitchen or Living Room xD

There are about three more venues I want to take a look at before I settle on the one in Fort Valley - although, I must say, we are both pretty happy with it!

Thank you!! I mentioned it to FH and he loves the idea :) I think he's hoping I'll forget about something choreographed..

Also, I think I settled on colors.. MAYBE..

Peach and Silver. I think it will give that classic look I'm wanting against the backdrop of trees and the old brown barn and antebellum house!

Sooo - Due to working 15 hours + and still having to find time to workout, eat, and, oh yeah, SLEEP - my wedding planning ideas have come to a halt. :irked:

However, currently, I am looking at different bouquets! I think my BM's will be a little easier to determine without an actual florist, or my FH around

Since the colors are peach and silver, I can't decide if I want silver/grey BM dresses, or a really cute flowing peach colored dress.. I love the look of peach/orange flowers against a grey dress...
I've also thought I would just give them a small, monochromatic bouquet to tote, so they can easily slip it in a small vase at the end of the ceremony and pictures
Such as this:
http://media.*******.com/ImageStage/Objects/0003/0038787/large_image.jpg

Like this!:.. I also kind of like this one for myself..
http://media.*******.com/ImageStage/Objects/0003/0049300/large_image.jpg

I love tulips, so I'm definitely thinking about those. What I would really like is orange tulips, peach roses, and white peonies... But that sounds like a pretty expensive bouquet:bbredface:
I found this one, minus the peonies:

I like this one as well:
http://media.*******.com/ImageStage/Objects/0003/0048555/large_image.jpg

Also, I am thinking about doing a classic wildflower bouquet, as well.

I feel so blind trying to find one I like - really, I'm sure between the FH and the FMIL (flower gurus) I'll end up with something classy and timeless, yet slightly casual.

So, I tried doing the whole "See what he pictures when he thinks about you walking down the aisle" (I had referenced this in the "Ask a Guy" thread)

I just started it off by saying, "Do you have a certain image in your head of me walking down the aisle?"
He said "Yeah, of course. But its hard to describe."

...So I was cunningly persistent... "But you definitely want my hair up?"

"Yeah, but not like all tight and done up, just like you used to do at the restaurant or when you were studying, when you would throw it up and stick a pencil in it. Your hair looks good like that, it kind of flows." (Um.. Hello, Mr. Compliment and Describe, where have you been for the past four years?)

"Oh, what about the dress? I mean, in general do yo--"

"Just something simple, but nice. Nothing super tight and it doesn't need to have a huge bottom. Just plain white, no decoration except for on the waist or kind of at a diagonal. And the top goes straight across your boobs."
"You mean strapless?"
"Yeah, strapless or whatever"

Okay, soo you have to know him to know how rare this is. I was SHOCKED, but of course couldn't say it, or else it would never ever happen again. He also said my face looked really good with my hair being up like that.. So, no neck fetish, thank God!!

Being away from home and not actually getting to talk to him about it or look at wedding stuff in person makes it hard to really see what's in my head - you know? I'm very literal (think "Bones" literal) so that creative side of my brain is hard to turn on.

However, I've had a lot of people go "Oh my God - that is so you." when I tell them about the location + colors together... :grinhappy:

Ugh -

Feeling icky and sad - after seeing the FH for a whole weekend after the engagement, and nothing since.. It doesn't exactly make me feel engaged. :(

Also, lay offs at work, and we haven't received a new schedule yet. Which means, lay offs are continuing. Its even more difficult to be entirely excited when you may be losing your job - even though the flip side is you get to be at home every day with FH... ... albeit broke... :(

So, I'm going to run.
Find food.
And try to have happy dreams. And wake up not so **** BLAH. :bbcry:

Okay, so since my wedding took on kind of a Southern Chic theme, and I'm so obsessed with my state and its agriculture (what else do you expect from a college of Ag graduate?) I'm going to use that in my favor ideas!

We are probably going to have a "box of favors" for the guest - but it still shouldn't be expensive.

One of the favors will be these peach buds (made in the same town I found my favorite-venue-as-of-yet - the cotton barn). We also have connections to Lane's orchards, and hope we can get these at a deal:
http://www.lanesouthernorchards.com/images/uploads/Peach_Buds_Tin_30oz_300x300.jpg

If no good deal, we will get them in the 3 oz Butterfield, classic Peach Bud package (we can get these wholesale for less than $2.00 a bag)

I saw online (and I think someone on here did it as well?) the wildflowers idea - we will definitely be doing that, without a doubt. Especially since it will be a Spring wedding, and we know so many folks who love planting flowers (wild or otherwise). (Plus, this is super cheap)

http://www.herecomestheblog.com/EcoFavorBags.jpg

Also, we will have koozies available at the bar - because Koozies are wonderfully useful, no matter what is written on it! This is $230 for 150 - which we would hopefully get less than that. Or have less written on it!
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_mcin04pctgk/SoNtbpbiidI/AAAAAAAAAFI/vGTZtLU8lzU/Koozie.jpg

So - without the roasted peanuts - Koozies would be $230 (includes shipping, etc), Flower seeds.. we'll say $90 (including bags and labels IF we put them on the bags), Peach Buds would be about the same as Koozies.

I would also like to do Peanuts (roasted) since that's one of our staple commodities, but we will have to see. Again, surrounding area is HUGE on peanut farms, and again, tons of connections down there, so we'll just have to see about that.

FH LOVES Koozie and flowers idea at least.
Nothing else has been brought up to him. ;)

Also, I ordered this five seconds ago - but I knew I wanted it from the beginning.

I'm going to try on the dress tomorrow!!!!!!

They have it at a place here in Chicago, and I found it online for less than $400.. So, I figured, if I try it on and LOVE it now, I'll get it. If it turns out to be what I don't want by this time next year - I can sell it and at least break even (since that's 1/2 or more off the actual price!)

I am SOOOO excited!

So, I went to look at another venue with my mom yesterday (A gun club near where I grew up) it looks GREAT and has lots of different ways you can arrange the reception area - indoor, outdoor, under a covered porch, etc - I like options. Options are good.

Also, my mom decided she would give me a Wedding Planner/Consultant as a present! She also made the comment that she had planned on payin for everything, and acted OFFENDED that I thought Brian and I would be paying? I finally was able to let her know that I thought it would be rude to EXPECT her to pay everything!!! She disagreed o.O But, it does make it a little easier on me - maybe I won't be SO stressed now (though I still plan on paying for some things - like the insane amount of favors i want to have - and splitting costs of some of the more expensive things, such as venue and catering)

However, I also just found out the project with my company will be over on November 20 - which means my job will be done. So the next couple of months will be devoted to finding a job, not to the wedding. I do want to find my venue and dress before the end of the year, but aside from that, everything else can wait until I get another job.

We are actually looking into starting a liquor store, and if we do that, I will go back to working at banquets while we get that going.

I have faith all will work out - everything has fallen into place for me in the past year, and I believe that if I meet life halfway and try to make things happen, good things WILL happen. But, until then, I may be a little bit of a stranger here.

Hey hun! Just seeing how you are and how planning is going!! I just read your post about how your mom is getting you a planner...awesome!

Hello to you, Most Beautiful Bride! Your pictures were un-freaking-believable, by the way!

:) Thanks, we're kind moving slower now that I'm really trying to look for a job - we've talked a little about songs -

Playing "Que Sara Sara" when the parents are being seated - Mom doesn't know that yet, but she used to sing that to me when I was little.

We've got two more places to look at, maybe this weekend between watching football and dove hunts. Hmm.. And that's really it. Life has gotten in the way of planning!

And yep - in a way I'm really thankful she offered to get a planner, but in a way, it makes me feel bad that she's going to be spending so much money when I know we can easily do it on our own. But, we'll see. If it gives her piece of mind, she can do it ;)

This place is near a friend's house (we actually thought about having the wedding at her farm - FREE!, depending on how much this place is)

http://plantationfarm.com/Home.htm

If you hit the "Venue" button at the bottom of the screen, it scrolls through some of the buildings, etc.. It's everything I wanted. I think I like it more than the cotton barn.

it uses old soup cans and such with flowers in it. which would be sooooo cheap to get, put flowers in it and you could do table numbers like this:

Aw - thank yall!

I was going to try to set up an appointment to see Plantation Farms next week, but I got called to go out of town for work again. So, I will be leaving this weekend.

This makes all of my other appts., etc, compounded, so I have no time to do anything like that this week - really stinks - BUT I guess after November I'll have more time than I really want to think about wedding plans.. Hah - funny how that works out! ;)

Again, Amanda, thank you so much for those center piece ideas!! I've been going back and forth between flowers or something else - but those look amazing.

AND I never got to look at that dress in Chicago - I ended up having to work over 1/2 of the day, and with the travel in the city I never would have made my appt - so I had to call and cancel. :( I'm scared to make an appt in Atlanta right now - since my schedule is ever-changing.

So, a semi-friend of mine (more like an acquaintance I guess?) told me this past weekend that she wants to plan my wedding - free of charge (which, if my mom has anything to say about it - won't happen. She'll pay her.) BUT she already has good ideas about how to combine the beautiful bouquets above (AND - the candles with the wood- my favorite) with my mom's peach ideas!! We have a ton of 1/2 gallon and gallon sized mason jars - and she has some really good ideas. Haven't run it my mom just yet - but I think she'll be fine with it. :)

We haven't really done a whole lot, just have been printing the ideas that I have come up with and putting them in my binder. Brian will tell me what he absolutely hates (which isn't much - he was resistant to mason jars until he saw the inspiration pics), and aside from that is giving me free reign!

He is also still resistant to a choreographed dance - BUT the semi-acquaintance and her hubby showed him about ten Youtub videos that he was dying laughing at.. so that's a step closer!! :crossfingers: We both agree we do want a traditional dance.. I just want to BUST out into a fun dance and get the serious stuff over with immediately!

I was at home for an entire week and a half!! I flew out this afternoon. He called me from work at about 7:30 this morning and asked me to come eat lunch with him, and told me he loved me so I said "Love you, too, babe".. He asked me at least three times "What?" "What did you say?" and finally goes "I know what you said I just like hearing you say it. It reminds me that we're perfect together." :soppy: I love it when he surprises me like that.... especially after he lets me know he may be spending my birthday in the woods...

That's what she said, too - I'm super grateful, especially since it'll keep some money in my mom's pocket.

So, it's 6:00 am and I'm already bored at work and considering going back to the hotel and snuggling up with a warm cup of hot cocoa! mmmmm So, to keep me here longer (which I'm told is good for customer service), I decided to browse hair styles!! I'll post a pic in a few hours when I DO make it back to the hotel that shows my hair a little better - I can't access my pics on this network :realmad: What do they expect me to do while I'm here? Work?

Anyway here's some updos I found - since that's what my honey wants! Brian wants it to look like it does when I just flip it up in a clip - he doesn't realize my hair is so heavy I have to put part of it in a pony tail and THEN flip it into a clip.. He specifically said "I like the messy look, not all tight and done up"

I like the fact that the one below has the hair kind of feathered in the back...

I don't want something that looks like its about to fall down.. because chances are with my hair, it WILL fall down.. I'll probably find more when I can look at pages that have the words "blog" in them...

I know how you feel about wanting to go curl up in bed. I was about ready to call out this morning, to have a lazy day. Was so not wanting to come into work.

But at least you can look up wedding stuff. That's what I do when I'm bored at work too. Those hairstyles look great. I really like the dark-haired one! I'm looking at that sort of hairstyle too. I want like a half up/half down sorta look. :star:

lol - I guess its the season for wanting Lazy days... when you can just look out the window and KNOW its soooo much colder than it is in your bed...

I think that's my favorite of the three also, the brunette. He just always talks about how my hair would feather out (he would say like a peacock's tail or something.. I can't remember how he describes it... he's weird like that) so I want that aspect, too...

And I LOVE the half up half down 'dos - thats what I wanted to go with originally!

Yes! Stilll in WI... Everyone has been making fun of me getting all cuddled up in my Carhartt everytime I walk outside.

OH! I meant to tell you - I had to go to a few different sites this weekend, and drove from Oshkosh to Windsor then to Tomah - and I passed the Wisconsin Dells!! I go "Hm.. That sounds familiar" and then I see this MASSIVE water park. It looked REALLY neat.. I haven't been to a water park since I was 5 or so, and it was nothing like that!

And thank you - I like it too - I go back and forth between the first two.. I don't really care for the last one all that much..

LOL! Can't get winter/spring/fall without Carhart! LOL!!

You know, you are hear at a good time though, the fall color should really be starting to set in, although I know its been a unusually cool summer, so I don't know if the color will be as bright and pretty as normal!

I'm excited somebody finally understand where I've been, well, other than the ladies from WI! LOL

How was Cabelas?!

Cabelas!! Oh my gosh - It was great. I mean, I love my Bass Pro, but Cabelas was great! I got Brian a Christmas present and some toys for the dog..And I'm probably going to eat supper in their little Grill place tomorrow! I think Bass Pro has a little bit more on the home decoration aspect of it - but I still wasn't disappointed.

And thank you!! My pictures are always terrible.. the ones that day were okay, though.

Wow - So your hair is that long?? I loved your hair in your wedding pics

MrsDM

Its that long about right now. It was a little shorter obviously about 1 1/2 months ago. I know sometimes too long of hair is a bad thing depending on the style you want, so make sure you talk with your stylist to see what they say!

Wow - its been a minute since I've had any updates.

So, although we haven't looked at any caterers yet, we have discussed food options! YAY! the most important part!

Here's a few things we came up with:

We want a "Shrimp & Grits Cocktail" bar. I know a lot of people are going to call me weird for this (I was told this was very Southern.. psh) I want little cocktail glasses. First the warm grits go in, with some cheese, and the shrimp on top of that... Its fab.It would look something like this:

I LOVE it!! SO excited about this.

My mom also wants some kind of finger food to serve while they wait on us to finish pics and arrive. Her ideas are really neat. Either shot glasses with tomato soup and mini grilled cheese sandwiches such as this!! I am so shocked I found a pic of this because she's the only person I've ever heard mention it!!!

Whoops - didn't mean to post that so soon but couldn't get passed that giant pic of the yummy soup and sammies.

SO. Depending on the weather and time and the rest of the meal ideas, we may also do ittie bittie pulled pork sandwiches and boiled peanuts as finger foods until we finish (or have a couple of those large barrels with roasted peanuts like you see in some restaurants.)

The peanuts definitely go with my "Georgia" theme, since that's one of our staple crops.

Also, this is going to sound a little weird, not the idea necessarily but the unforunate events that led to the idea. At my Grandpa's visitation, my FH walked in in this nice Ralph Lauren suite with no tie.. and he just looked amazing in it. My sister, who never says anything about folks like this, goes "Oh, look at him! He looks GQ!"

And he did. Amazing. I fell in love all over again. So, I told him, there is a giant chance he may not have to fool with a vest and tie on the wedding day... Because I would LOVE to see him like that at the end of the aisle. That made him happy :)

Also - He decided that he wants five groomsmen - all fantastic amazing guys. That means I get all five of the girls I wanted for bridesmaids!!! Yay for us being all agreeable!!

And one last mini-note.

I'm at my sister's in Tallahassee right now (working all over the state of Florida the next month) and we thought about going to look at some dresses tomorrow! I think the only place open around here may be David's Bridal tomorrow - but at least its a start, and can help me see what style of dress looks best on me!!! If I do go, we'll bring a camera, of course.

We're hoping to find a catering company that will be willing to do it for us (:crossfingers:!!), but we haven't even spoken to any yet! Otherwise, I do know a few chefs I might ask.

Hey guys!!

Sorry I've been completely absent for the last couple of months - work had me going up until the weekend before Christmas, and I've been on the road every since the beginning of January!! I've been completely pooped. I don't even check my facebook anymore because I've just started hating having to open up my laptop... Because the laptop now = work. :(

BUT We are making some big decisions about the wedding currently! It may be sooner (this fall!) or later (next fall... :bbconfused:) or.. stick to March. Tonight is going to be seriously sit-down-and-talk night so we can definitely figure out what we want for the wedding... I've said it before - the abstract part of my brain is non-existant... I can't even start to imagine the little details, or even some of the big ones, so I really need Brian's help making some critical decisions.

BUT The wedding is definitely still on! I'll fill you ladies in on a few more things. I'm working from home for a few weeks before tackling New York City in March and April, so hopefully we'll get some serious planning done!
I've miss yall!!!!
