Has anyone had a bridesmaid who would have the baby approximately 4-8 weeks prior to your wedding?
If so, how did you go about buying the bridesmaid dress? Do you have them buy it to their current figure but maybe a size up, or do you try and rush the dress in last minute?
My FSIL is quite small now but is about 6 weeks pregnant. Back in her teenage and early twenties, she was overweight but has worked very hard to be healthy & fit. (I know next to nothing about pregnancy so I'm not sure if this affects how much weight she may potentially gain). We're planning a dress shopping day in the middle of August and I'm not quite sure what to do about her dress or how to even have her order one. I'm hoping the bridal boutique will be able to help with this as well.
Any personal experiences you guys can share is great :) Thanks!

I had my sister in the wedding and she was 9 months pregnant the day of the wedding! She got her dress about 6 months before. They went up 2 sizes And ended up having to take it in in the boob area. I do know she went in often for measuring. More than the other girls. Here is a pic of her. Dont mind the color of the pic. I was playing around with photobucket one night... lol

That's what I figured. Possibly order it 2 sizes larger, and then after the baby is born she'll just have to go in often and they'll have to rush the alterations to get her fitted properly.
It could work, I just feel bad that she'll be doing all that running around with a newborn!

When is she due and when is your wedding? And most likely she will have someone watch the baby while she is getting fitted.

Shes due sometime in March (we're not exactly sure when), most likely beginning to mid-month. We leave for Cuba on May 1st. It will be a hectic 6 weeks or so for her.

When you go get the dresses.. ask how long the wait is on the dress. My girls... It was 3 months.
I say.. wait until she has the baby and bring her in asap for a fitting. It will be easier that way. Then she don't have to pay out the butt for the fittings. It will be $$$ My girls dress's cost 100. But after it was done and over with .. it was 300. And SHE was not even pregnant. She lost like 30 lbs. Get quotes.. from places. Some of my girls felt robbed.

another option is to choose a dress for her that can be adjusted ( sort of)
eg halter neck so if he rbust is bigger it may not need to much adjusting, also if its stretchy or has an empire line it wont matter if her tummy is big or not.
My Bm was 7.5 months along at the wedding, but i chose her a dress a 13 months prior that would be suitable if she was preggers.

The halter we waited until near the day and the empire line just meant we waited to do the hem.

You could also do a true empire waist. That way she will fit into it no matter what size she is. My sister did this for me because I have been trying to get pregnant all this year and when we were ordering the dresses I wasn't but we ordered them 7 months out so if I got pregnant I could have been huge by the time of the wedding. BTW I am not pregnant but I can still wear the dress even though I'm not.
Here is the dress:

i agree halters and or empire waists are best...plus, they look good on just about every body!
we changed our dresses, and are now going with a halter...one of my girls is a larger girl in general, and is also top heavy...she's self concious, and so we just decided that a halter is best...and she likes the empire thing, cos the v neck brings attention to her breasts, not her thighs and belly lol(her words, not mine!)

She can always try a dress that you can convert to many different styles. American Apparel has one. Also there are more expensive versions out there.
