I pay on time. I pay more than the minimum. But Chase has apparently canceled my card because they can. I don't know if they're supposed to be able to, but they sure as heck are.

While my account still shows online, I've read other stories of people who have accounts still listed online, but when they call and talk to a rep are informed that it has been canceled and a snail-mail letter is on the way "explaining it." Thanks a bunch, jerkfaces. I'm about to go to a wedding, so I really appreciate you hitting me with this as I'm trying to book a hotel.

So if any of you ladies have Chase cards, watch out. I got nervous when I saw a story about a guy with student loans who was declared a "credit risk" and has his accounts canceled. Seems like a crappy deal to me, but that's the credit system. It's designed against you. You can't win. You can't even break even. I tried to do right (I had less than half of my pretty small credit limit in use) but it doesn't really matter.:icon_barbar:I have one other credit card from Capital One, but it's gonna be tight. I'll make it. I'll get over it, and bid a fond farewell when I pay off my Chase card that I can apparently no longer use. No I'm just really frustrated. http://blogs.wsj.com/wallet/2009/07/15/can-a-credit-card-company-cancel-your-card-and-not-tell-you/

I believe it has alot to do with the economy. They are cutting off credit cards every where you turn as well as telling people who have loans that they no longer have one. I think its away for the banks to stay out of bankrupt. One of the people I worked with had no balance on his credit card, payed it off everytime and cut him off. So i'm very choosy as to who I get a credit card with.

That really stinks. I thought you had already booked your hotel room. But anyway, sorry they did that to you. :(

DH has just managed to get a Credit Card for the first time ever! :bbeek:
OK the APR is crippling. But there are some companies out there willing to take on people with little or no credit score like us. There is no way we will ever max them out. (Been there, done that, hence bad credit in the past) But there is light at the end of the tunnel. If you are willing to shine your own light towards it.

Yeah I had used this one to reserve my room at the wedding hotel, but I don't think they actually charge it till I get there. So I'll have to use my low-limit card or my debit card.

And this didn't use to be a Chase card. It was WashingtonMutual, but they went bankrupt and got bought out by Chase. Sigh.
