The whole wedding planning thing just spun completely out of control, what with my mom imposing her demands, and getting the two families coordinated that we're just going to go with our original plan- we're eloping this upcoming week.
We're not going to tell anyone until it's official, but I know some people will be a bit upset they didn't get to see us take our vows. For them, and to celebrate our marriage with close family and friends, I'd like to have a post-wedding celebration in a few months...pretty much a reception, except with no ceremony preceding it.
So, I like the idea of either doing a "black and white", "all white", or "black and gold" party (just because I love those color combos). On the invites, which will also serve as elopement announcements, I was going to put something to the effect of "black and white (or whichever color scheme we choose) cocktail attire welcome", just so people wouldn't think they absolutely had to dress up.
It'll be a chic, classy celebration, with dining and dancing, and we will have a cake. I'd appreciate any comments or advice regarding how to word the invites, whether having a color-themed party is a good idea, etc.
