I'm off to the Finger Lakes Wine Festival today. My friend goes every year but I've never been. We'll be camping right there so no need for a DD :winktongue: It will be so nice to get away and hang with the girls for a weekend instead of sitting home alone while DH is working (funny, I can't seem to get out of the habit of typing FH...)
Weather is iffy - think happy sunshine thoughts for me!

Awesome! :D
I wanted to go, but we don't have the time with the car breaking down and wedding planning. So you better go have all the fun I would have had on top of your own

So let me start by saying that the wine festival was awesome! It was my first time there so I wasn't sure what to expect except a lot of wine but getting there was certainly one for the story book. So we leave with about four hours of driving ahead of us and about half way through I'm telling a story, nothing too thrilling and the driver starts screaming, "oh ****!!! oh ****!!! oh ****!!!" We were like what??? Driver barely gets out "CAMPER" and my other friend is like, where is it? I look back to see our pop up camper following us but not attached! The front where the hitch is is sparking on the road. This also happens to be where the propane tank is stored! We were close to Syracuse so there was a fair amount of traffic around. By a stroke of luck the camper did not hit anyone, went off the side of the road, taking out a mile marker and landing in the reeds & tall grass on the side of the Thruway. We called AAA and they sent a tow and state trooper who was really cool and said he wouldn't do anything about the mile marker as long as the Thruway Authority didn't notice it (which they didn't :))
So we had a little party on the side of the Thruway, had to go have the electric fixed, and finally got back on the road 2 hours later. Funny thing is, my friend's father hooked it up and no one could understand why it happened. Needless to say, we stopped several times on the way home to check and make sure it was still attached!
I've had that happen before - TWICE!! It's a pain in the butt when you look in your rear view mirror and see the bottom of the boat, or the tongue of the trailer you WERE towing! I'm glad no one got hurt, and I'm glad you had a good time!
Needless to say, I do check my trailer every time I get into my truck - people like to pull pranks and unfortunately, that's a very common one - flipping up the tab that holds the trailer on the ball.

Holy cow! That would have scared the cr@p out of me!
Glad that no one was hurt! Especially considering how fast the drivers go on the Thruway, and how close they follow people! But yay for AAA and chill troopers. :)

The really funny thing was when we finally got to Watkins Glen, the lady at the gate asked us if we had our camp-ING and we all heard, "Do you have your CAMPER?" Kate (driver) said, "I SURE DO!!!" We were all laughing - the lady must have thought we'd starting drinking already!
There were several other mishaps including Kate breaking someone's campers side view mirror while retrieving a football. She stood up and hit her head on the mirror and it broke. We felt so bad and offered to buy them a new one. The people were so nice and told us to pay them back by having fun. How sweet is that???
Good people, good wine and good laughs. What more could you ask for?
