Hello all,

I'm planning for my own wedding, in Charleston, SC on the beach. My fiance and I are pretty laid back and don't want the same old 'Here Comes the Bride' or Canon in D and have been looking for contemporary, popular music, preferably from a string quartet or trio or something.

We wanted something unique and found a group called the Palmetto Strings (Google Palmetto Strings to find their audio) which can do a mix of styles with their classical instruments. For example, I'm planning on having my mom and family walk down to Beatles - In My Life, and going to walk in on one of my favorite Coldplay songs, Viva La Vida, which they do a great arrangement of.

I'd just thought I'd share this as I think it's new and unique to this day and age. I'd love to know what others think of this concept!!

I'm a big fan of different music during the ceremony - it shows personality! I walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of Today by Smashing Pumpkins and we walked out to The Simpsons theme song. :winktongue:

I like the contemporary strings, too! But I walked down the aisle to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" - Jason Castro (American Idol) version. And then the recessional was a Jack Johnson tune.

I love the idea!

I have particular attachment to the (religious) song "Hosea" because of the "homecoming" theme but I'm using a lot of music by Enya in the background of my wedding (particularly Watermark)

I think using non-traditional music can be very personalized and it's notboring for the guests. And using something funny or interesting gives them something to talk about later imo ;)
