View Full Version : LAME.... What a waste of a day.
So I've been planning for weeks to do this yard sale and get rid of everything. I've got probably 1/3 of my house out in my front yard right now.
I've been out here since 8am.... and it's 12:45 right now. We've had all of THREE stinkin customers the WHOLE day. Ugh... I'm bummed.... hot... tired... and I hate to just deliver it all to the thrift store because I know a lot of it is worth money, but I just don't have anywhere to put it :irked:

Sorry your yard sale isn't going as well as you had hoped it would.

Oh that sucks. My granny always says if you want a successful yard sale you have to have balloons with your signs. haha Must work because she always does well. Maybe you can get a tax right off for it by donating it somewhere?

That really stinks. It's kinda surprising that there's not many people coming by on a Saturday.
Yard sales are so much work! It's so disappointing when they don't go well.

Awww! That blows! Maybe you could see if you could sell some of the bigger items on Craigslist or something? Or you could follow Mitch's example and become an Ebay wizard? :winktongue:
Well, Dad and I made 15 bucks between the two of us today LOL. We loaded everything (well, most of the stuff) into the truck and took it straight to Goodwill... a whole 8' bed full of stuff! I saved the wedding stuff, the microwave and jewelry so that I could sell online... Now it's off to cook dinner!

Even eBay has it's moments. Sometimes stuff flies out the door. Other stuff lingers on the list to be relisted time and time again. But it doesn't cost to relist things.
I was hoping to get rid of a lot more stuff between now and the house move. But with work picking up again, i just don't have the time to list, sell and post. Plus pack to move and run this house. So i understand the frustration of no sales.
In the UK we have "Boot Sales". Which is (I assume) like a Garage / Yard sale. Only we put everything into the car boot (Trunk). Drive to a field and sell from there. It is big business in the UK. And highly addictive to sell at or just walk round looking at other peoples tat.
They are normally held on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays. And sprout up all over the country. They reckon that more people are at a Boot Sale than in Church. :bbeek:

Sorry to hear the sale didn't go so well. My friend is having a rummage sale next weekend that I want to get it on. I should start tagging my stuff!
Do you have a consignment shop near you?
I've made a lot of money on would be 'good' yard sale items at a local consignment shop, they split the sale 50/50 and do all the work, call you when you can pick up money, etc

Thanks! Nah, we don't have any near us. I already donated a whole 8' truck bed full of stuff to the Goodwill. I do still have some wedding stuff I'm trying to sell, and a couple other little things, but not near as much as I had!
