Wow what a rush to the head and the body. :bbeek:
Contracts for the new (Old) house came through today. Instead of moving on Wednesday 19th. We take over the new house on Sunday 16th August.
Because the letting agents will be closed. They are giving us the keys on Saturday 15th.
Which happens to also be the day that DH is going to collect the girls. :bbeek:
I've just taken on extra days at work and only get Sundays and Mondays off.
So now i only have those days and the evenings to pack everything up.
The girls were originally coming down on August 2nd. I had already put them off one day because i couldn't get the 1st off work. (Massive Indian Wedding at the Hotel. So all hands on deck)
This meant DH was taking that week off. And with him being self employed there is no holiday pay. The knock on effect means no money for a removal van etc. I said it would be easier if the girls came down when we move house. Due to lack of space here and heaps of it at the new house. So DH phoned them and asked to change the date again. Thinking we were moving on the original 19th.
Because DH will have the car on the Saturday we get the keys. I have to get round to the new house before then and ask the neighbour if i can leave a bag of cleaning stuff there.
Then on the day, get the bus to town to get the keys. Get back to the new house and clean it from top to bottom. Try and get back to where we live at the moment for when DH gets back. He'll be gone approx 10 hours. Time he drives there, sees the eldest and Grandson, pick up the other girls, then drives back.
I've got to find somewhere among the boxes and chaos for the everyone to sleep the night. Then go get a van first thing on the Sunday.
We have to vacate this house by the 17th. So we have one day to get everything clear and clean. So when the landlord comes round we wont lose our £700 deposit.
I do ALL the packing on my own. DH has never packed a box for any of the house moves we have done. And to say we have moved a few times is an understatement LOL.
That's on top of still running the house. Keeping the garden mowed so there's a semblance of order for the neighbours. Working extra shifts. Still selling stuff on eBay. And a few runs to the bottom of the garden for a scream LOL.
And believe it or not. I'm in my element when i move house. :)

Wow, sounds like you'll be really busy! I know what you mean about moving all the time... I'll probably be moving for the 5th time in 3 years come September. It's a lot of work! I wish I was in my element when moving!

Wow, it's gonna be busy, but it sounds like you've got your head on straight about it! And hey...if you're in your element, I know a couple of Americans who have to move in April...could suuuure use some help :)
Seriously, congratulations on the new-old place and I hope everything runs smoothly with the move.

Got out of work at 5pm today. We're normally out by 2pm at the lastest. But the hotel was fully booked. And two staff didn't turn in.
Fortunately, the place where we hire the removal vans from is just across the road. So i shot over there and booked a self-drive 7.5 Tonne van with Tail-Lift for the move. I gave them my surname and they told me my address. Now there's proof we have been here before LOL.
We can pick it up at 5.30pm just before they close on the Saturday. Then take it back on the Monday morning when they open again at 8am. They are only charging us £60. Which is the daily rate. But we can use the van on the saturday night if we get the urge. This all depends on how knacked DH is after bringing the girls down.
Now it feels totally real so i've just done another bout of packing. I finally plucked up the courage and entered the walk in wardrobe. OMG there was so much eBay stuff in there. I'd forgotten about some of it. :bbeek: Boxes of err, boxes. Piles of them for sending the eBay sales out in. Plus i found a handbag i forgot i owned. So now i don't have to carry the "Tardis" everywhere. :winktongue:
I swear blind that everytime i pack a box. The cat in is another room emptying everything out.
This is only a two bedroomed house for gawds sake. Where is it all coming from! :bbeek:
I've been sorting out for the past two nights now. DH has been asleep on the sofa downstairs both times. Then when he wakes up he finds a few more boxes in the Lounge. Before long i will be building a wall of cardboard around him.

You never realize just how much stuff you have until you pack it all up to move. This is what we discovered when moving. We had half our stuff in storage, so we really realized how much we had. Even packing up just the stuff from our bedroom when we lived with FH's parents was at least 20 boxes... probably closer to 25. Good luck with all of your packing! :)

Last night we had friends round to dinner. Was nice to just sit down and chill out without packing stuff into boxes. Although we did eat a meal DH made surrounded by cardboard boxes.
A kind of restaurant come warehouse kind of night lol.
DH has gone to work today. Back to working seven days a week. He needs to get backlog at work cleared before taking a week off to move.
I'm just taking ten minutes for a smoke and a cup of tea. Then i am entering the attic to clear it out. :bbeek:
It's not so much the amount of stuff up there that is daunting. Because a load got sold on eBay. Or is already down waiting for eBay. It is the fact i'm home alone.
I have to use a metal ladder i hate climbing. Use an extension lead and a table lamp for lighting. Then get through the hatch. Crawl under a beam. Get a box. Move that towards the hatch. Climb over the box and under the beam. Climb halfway down the ladder. Pick up the box then carry it downstairs.
As we say in the UK. I'm gonna be up and down like a whores drawers.
Think of all the calories i'm going to burn doing this little exercise. :winktongue:

It's OK Liz. You can let go now. I'm back down and can just about get to the PC. :bbeek:
DH came home and made me stop for something to eat. There's only about ten boxes left up there. But he insisted i stop running up there like a rat up a drain pipe. Will get the rest down when he falls asleep. :winktongue:
good luck with the packing an moving you know mitch you come across as someone who likes to keep busy packing a million things into the one day i wish i had your energy but reading about all the hard work you have been doing has made me think i need to take a leaf out of your book so i am off to try an get my grass cut befor it gets to late

Think of all the calories i'm going to burn doing this little exercise. :winktongue:
Something must be working. When i jumped on the scales yesterday morning i was 9 stone 10 pound. Got on the scales in the evening after getting out the bath. Down to 9 stone 5 pound. :ura1:
All that exercise and 5 pound drops off. :bbeek: Maybe it's in a box somewhere.
I seem to be packing everything else LOL.
I've been up an hour and it's now 6.25AM. I'm waiting to hear nextdoor flush her toilet. Then i know she's up and about. Then i can do some more stuff here without disturbing anyone. I've already done two loads of laundry. But that doesn't back onto anyones wall. So i can scream and shout in there.
Off to the Letting Agency today to drop the signed contracts in. And maybe have a mooch around the town.
If it stays sunny today. I'll forgo the mooch around. Instead i'll come home and enter shed number one.
I know there are a few "Beasties" in there. We've been getting some massive Spiders in the house. Elektra manages to kill and eat some of them. But some even he looks at and thinks twice about playing with for the kill. I hate Spiders and DH is even worse when one walks around.
I swear blind i heard one walking across the bedroom last night. Some of them have legs like Oil Rigs. :bbeek:

Didn't get round to doing the shed yesterday. So after work today i tackled it full on. DH came home and saw me surrounded by tools, dust and cobwebs.
Because he doesn't help out with any packing. He gets these tiny pangs of guilt and tries to make me sit down. But with work at the hotel picking up and time waiting for no one. I have no real choice but to soldier on.
DH ordered Chinese food so i didn't have to cook. And when it arrived i downed tools and locked the sheds for the night. I still have shed number two to tackle. So DH suggested i make a start when i get in from work tomorrow. And he will give me a hand when he gets in. (Which is normally an hour or so after me)
The second shed is full of scrap metal which needs sorting out. So DH will get his paws dirty on that one. Me on the other hand will fight the spiders and cobwebs. And eventually find the back of the shed. Then lug everything down to the house for a good old fashioned rummage.
Most of the house is now packed. My back is jumping and my legs are battered and bruised. My friends think i'm very organised. But when you have moved as often as us. And have to sort and pack everything 99% solo. Then keeping a level head is a must.
Oddly enough i'm still loving it. A good sort out is good for the soul. :innocent:

Managed to get a "Flier" at work and was done and home by 12.30pm. That's a first for a long time. Big black clouds overhead only gave me a small window to get the second shed emptied. But i managed it and now the garden is full of scrap and debris.
The first shed is now totally full of stuff so i shut the door and was just about to put the padlock on when i heard a box fall over. I put the padlock on the floor and opened the door again. Stepped forward to put the box straight and promptly stood on the padlock, breaking the key in the lock. :whyme: So i used the padlock off the now empty shed and secured the full one.
By the time DH got in i was feeling rough. The feeling that i'd been run over by a bus. I had no dinner and went to bed by 7PM. This is not like me to go to bed that early. Last time i was in bed at that time i was about 5 years old. I slept right through until 6AM this morning. Went downstairs to chaos in the house. Then got a guilt trip for not doing housework last night.
I still feel a bit rough. But i've got to go to work and pray it's another easy day.
DH said i've been overdoing things. And that there is no real rush to get it all done at once. But when i start something i like to finish it. Then i can sit down for a few days and do nothing.

I came offline this morning and walked round to the shops to get a newspaper and a pack of ciggies. On the way back i collapsed in the street and never made it to work. :( Came round to two neighbours asking if i was OK.
So tonight i've done nothing. Not even washed the pots from last night. DH was right, i have been overdoing it a bit. Time to chill for a couple of days.

You need at-least 3 pots of tea. I know it's hard for you to let things get away from you, but you have to take care of yourself. How else are we going to learn all those cool sayings and new slang.

Got a letter from the current Letting Agency thanking me for the months written notice. And that they were sorry to hear we are leaving them to use another Agency.
Now it feels more real that we are infact moving. Apart from the obvious piles of boxes in every room.
I've not had the drapes open in the front window of the lounge for over a week. Just so the neighbours can't see in and know somethings going on. At the moment it just looks like someones died. Which is an old tradition of leaving the drapes closed 24 / 7
But i guess the "To Let" sign that will probably go up sometime this week will be the giveaway.
Now i have to think twice about where i put the boxes. No doubt there will be viewers wanting to look round the place. So i need some semblance of order among the chaos so the house gets re-let.
So i've been stacking the boxes into various cupboards and wardrobes. And just hope and pray no one wants to see how big it is behind the mirrored robe doors.
Wow Mitch... I hope that you're feeling better now. Guess ya learned the hard way not to overdo it. Then again, my mom does that a few times a month and still hasn't learned :irked:
You now have less than a month till you're outta there!

Well after being ill myself for a few days. Then the dash up north to see DH's second eldest daughter in hospital with Meningitis. Absolutely nothing has happened with the packing and sorting.
Today i tried to get hold of SKY to change addresses and get it all connected at the new address. We have Broadband, Cable and Phone with them.
Typical communication company. Can't get through and communicate with them. :whyme:
Phoned the "House Move Team" only to be kept on hold for 10 minutes and then told they can't find me on their system. Wow, does that mean i don't have to pay the bill? I bet they find me immediately if i missed a payment.
Was told to ring another number. You know the ones with the "Automatic Annie" droning on and on.
If you want to add channels to your TV, Press #1 (Nope, i want to move house)
If you want to change your broadband package, Press #2 (Nope, i want to move house)
If you want to add friends and family to your phone, Press #3 (Nope, i want to move house)
If you are still alive, Press #9. (Nope, i want to move house)
If you have died while waiting to be connected, get your next of kin to press #0 and hang up. :irked:
(At this rate the kids will be old enough to buy the house)
All i want is a time and date for the dish to be disconnected here. And slapped on the side of the house at the new address.
I finally got through after pressing numerous buttons for this and that. Drank two cups of tea and smoked two ciggies. To be told after 45 minutes (I know how long it was because there's a counter on the phone). That they can't do anything till tomorrow because their computers were down.
AAAHHHHHH!!!!
A communication company i wouldn't trust with two tin cans and a piece of string. And now i have to sit through it all again tomorrow.
I know, while i'm sat by the phone i'll change the address on the TV Licence. Only to find out that the time i get through to a "Human". It would be quicker to slap a stamp on it. Stick it in a Postbox. And get Postman Pat to deliver it across the country.
Why are the simpliest things in life made so hard.
Mitch, you can make the most irritating experiences worth the read  That sucks you had to sit on hold forever just to not be able to accomplish what you called to do. Good luck getting everything switched over!!

The "To Let" sign has gone up outside the house we are in at the moment. Now the neighbours can gossip till they are blue in the face lol.
We are hoping the girls will come down to stay a bit earlier and stay longer. Step Daughter who had the Meningitis is back and forth to the hospital everyday to get drugs pumped into her by drip. So until that is complete we have no idea if the plans change.
Still haven't had a chance to get outside and mow the lawns. The only sunny day we had here was Saturday. And i was at work all day. Time i got home i was too knacked to do it. Yesterday was spent 200 mile away at a Christening for a friends four kids.
Today i'm off work and it's raining again.
DH said not to worry too much about the lawn. But i want to leave here with a clear conscience knowing everything is the same or better than when we moved in.

I am at my wits end with SKY. :irked:
After being told their computers were down, and they would call me back in 24 hours. It is now four days later!! And still no phone call. So today i sat on the phone again trying to get through.
I was sent from one department to another, then back again. After 40 minutes i gave up. DH got in from work and told me to tell them to cancel the whole bloody lot. So i got back on the phone and was on hold for over an HOUR!!!! :bbeek:
I finally got through to the House Moving Team to be told there is no phone line into the new address. And that it would cost £130 to connect a phone. Now i know this it total BS because we had a phone there. So we know there is a line into the house. So i asked to be transferred to the disconnection team.
This time i was on hold for 50 Minutes. Only for them to put the phone down on me after all that time. :bbeek:
I got off the phone in floods of tears. I hardly ever cry so DH was absolutely furious that SKY had reduced me to tears.
In total i have spent almost 6 HOURS trying to get this sorted. I'm sick to the back teeth of the constant droning of SKY Musak. And "Automatic Annie" telling me "Sorry for the delay in connecting you and thanks for waiting. Your call is important to us"
If it was that bloody important PICK THE PHONE UP!!!! :irked:
Right now i feel like ripping the dish off the side of the house. Disconnecting the phone, digi-box and internet. Getting on a plane to Scotland and dumping the whole lot on their desks!!
I've got a stinking headache from the stress of it all.
So if you don't see me online for a while. You know i have either pulled everything out in anger. Or hung myself from the satellite dish. :bbeek:

Yeah. Two tin cans and a piece of string for the phone.
Internet, get one of those pay-as-you-go stick thingymajigs. And television can just be terrestrial 5 channels until 2010 when they flick the switch.
The UK have plenty of companies all battling for custom. If i'm not too knacked after work tomorrow and it's raining. I will phone SKY again and tell them i'm going elsewhere. If they want my custom that badly they will drop the £130 fee for something that's already there.
When we left one company to go to SKY they offered to match the deal. I wish now i had stuck with them. Hopefully they will have us back. And SKY can whistle into the wind.
If it's not raining i will cut the lawn. And SKY can wait.
Having a week away for the kids has created a domino effect of things that still need to be done.
Ugh. I'm getting a headache all over again just thinkin about it! Good luck!

07-28-2009, 04:12 PM
SKY can wait another day. The sun was shining all day today. So i shot home from work and cut the lawn. DH came home as i was halfway through the back garden. He totally surprised me by finishing it off. He NEVER mows the lawn. :bbeek:
I then did a couple of more boxes of packing. By the time i finish i reckon there's going to be 100 boxes to move. All ranging in size from ones that hold one fragile vase and heaps of bubble wrap. To cardboard boxes the size of tea-chests holding linen.
There is light at the end of the tunnel now. And the Lounge is like a warehouse ready to explode.
Today i booked off the Friday before the move. That gives me a chance to get the girls one day early. And also saves DH the trouble of driving up to get them. I hate him driving my car. So if i get them Friday i should be there and back before he gets home from work. 600 Mile and 8 hour turnaround.
They were given the option to come down this weekend. But have decided to stick to the original plan of just before we move.
If i can get them on the Friday. Then i have the car to get the keys on the Saturday so i can clean the new-old house before moving in Sunday.
All these dates and changes of plan is all done without the aid of a safety net.

I've been rushing around like an idiot trying to get things tidied away. I had half packed boxes and stuff in piles to sort out. So now everything is straight again.
They are viewing tomorrow evening around 6.30PM.

Woohoo it's August!!
Got the TV Licence changed online last night. It has to be the easiest thing to change. Yet the most frustrating to pay. £144.50 ($239.37) just to watch TV. All of which goes to the BBC. Yet others around the world get the BBC for free. :bbeek:
Also found out the Utilities can be changed anytime within 5 days of moving. That way we can give a "near as **** it" reading on Gas, Water and Electric. (Nearly typed Elektra then. He only comes with food and vet bills LOL)
Still haven't contacted SKY. Will do that on Monday after i collect the unit i won on eBay. I'm going to need most of the day just to get through to a human.
Will take a 20 ciggies, a flask of tea and some sandwiches to the phone this time.

She came with her Mum and Sister and asked all kind of questions. Looked very interested in renting. :)

Was going to throw out a perfectly good Garden Table and Four Chairs at the weekend. But was talking to nextdoor and she has given them a new home.
DH and Myself went down the "Sheds" (Massive DIY Stores on the edge of town) and saw a gorgeous Glass Table and Six Cane Chairs which would look great in the new conservatory. We very nearly bought them. But decided to look again after the move. That way we don't have to move it twice. Fingers crossed they are still in stock in two weeks time.
Got rid of all the rubbish cluttering the back garden. A pram we bought for Grandson. Various bits and pieces from DH's work van. And two king size duvets and about six pillows we use for spares. Managed to get a new duvet and four pillows from work. (Perks of the job lol). So now everyone has new bedding when we move.
Looks like everything is almost good to go. Just waiting for the date now. :D

Just had a young couple knock on the door asking to look around the house.
Yeah OK. But first they have to go to the Agency. Prove they are professional people and then make an appointment. We know our Landlord only rents to professionals. (Ooh that sounds posh lol)
Because i said they have to phone the Agency first. She then asked if i have anymore properties to rent.
Hey do i look like the Landlord. :bbeek:
All well and groovy knocking on the door and asking. But we have to go through the Agency by law. Plus the house is a tip. (I've just got the bedding washed and dry and it needs to go back on). DH has just got in from work and is now flat out asleep on the sofa.
Yeah they can look. But at another time arranged the proper way.
This may come across as harsh. I could have shown them round. But WTF do they think we do all day. Wait in and keep the house in show-home condition on the off chance that someone might knock unannounced.
They do say there is nothing as queer as folk. :bbeek:

All Rental properties when on the market have a "To Let" sign outside. Once a contract is signed for the next occupant, a "Let By" sign replaces it.
This has to stay in place for two weeks after moving in. Free advertisment for the Letting Agents. We normally take ours down the day after we move in. ;)
The property we are moving back to has had "Let By" outside since the day i viewed it. The nextdoor neighbour said it went up that evening.
Some signs have "By Appointment Only" written on. But ours hasn't. :ooh:

I put everything into the spare bedroom. I'm now on the PC in the same room and our cat Elektra is having a good old sniff around the boxes.
Because of selling on eBay. I have a massive bag of packing peanuts which is about five foot high and about three foot diameter. I just about got it through the roof hatch. It was like trying to deliver a baby LOL.
Elektra has just stepped off a box onto the bag. Then took off like a Harrier Jumpjet when it moved under his paws.
I keep telling him to help pack. But i don't think his furry paws can cope with the sticky tape.
Now i've got to sort through it all. Re-pack any dodgy boxes and then get it all downstairs.
I'm picking up two of the girls next week. And as it stands there is nowhere for them to sleep. So i really need to get my *** in gear.
So much still to do and so little time. I'm thankful we are upsizing instead of downsizing. I never knew two people and six years can gather so much stuff. :bbeek:
Interesting.... Once a place is rented the sign is taken down. Now, after a home is sold, a lot of times a 'sold' sign is put up.
That's a big bag of packing peanuts.
You said you have a roof hatch...like on a submarine? You really have a door on the roof???

Every house sold in the UK has a "Sold" sign outside. Infact we were talking to the neighbours opposite the other day. The house next door to them has had a "Sold" sign up for months now. Yet no one has been near or by. We reckon a Private Landlord has bought it. So it might get replaced with a "To Let" sign when they find a Letting Agent.
LOL never though of the hatch as like a Submarine. You're not far off.
It's just a piece of wood that rests on a lip inside the roof. The whole lot can come out. We just push it and lean it against the pipes just inside the roof.
You can just about see it above Elektras ear in this photo. It's on the landing outside the Bedroom and Bathroom doors. Hence the usage of the scary ladder in previous posts. Elektra is sitting on the newel post at the top of the stairs. Surveying his realm.

Interesting. We have hatches like that, but they only go as far as the attic. Yours goes all the way to outside?
Elektra looks like our George we used to have who lost in his battle with the dryer :( Such a cutie!!

Four more days at work. (Today, Tues, Weds, Thurs) Then i'm off to move.
A lot more of the Kitchen can be packed away on Monday. DH always cooks a meal on Saturday and / or Sunday and uses every pot and pan we own. :bbeek:
Once that is done a lot can go into boxes. Cookware i don't use throughout the week. Like the Kitchen Scales, Pyrex Dishes and Stainless Steel Pots.
All i need is a couple of Saucepans, Baking Tray and Oven.
Or pack the lot and use a couple of Take-Away menus
One of the girls at work was walking towards the bins with a black sack and numerous cardboard boxes. She saw me in the car park and yelled out "Mitch Do You Want These?" and waved the boxes towards me.
I shouted back, "No Thanks Hun, I've Got Enough Now".
She looked to the floor like a little lost child and proceeded to the bins laden with rubbish. When i saw her later on for a meal out with the girls. She said she was hoping i would put the boxes in my car so she didn't have to carry them all the way to the bin. :bbcry:

Wow this time next week we will be in our new / old home. Can't wait. :ura1:
The Kitchen is looking sparse now. A majority of it is now in boxes. Even Elektra jumped in one and had a chase of his tail. He can be such a dingbat at times.
Here's the silly sausage in mid-turn going round in circles.

Woohoo finally got through to SKY. :ura1:
After nearly an hour on hold. :ooh: A human picked up the phone and sorted it all out within five minutes.
Because i went into one about being on hold for so long over the past few weeks. SKY have decided to let us take everything with us for a cut price re-connection fee. DH is still fuming with them and wants them to stuff it where the sun don't shine. But it would cost three times more to terminate the contract. SKY are within their rights to make us pay for the rest of the year contract. Which expires in February next year.
The phone engineer is arriving next week at the new address. Because there is already a phone line there. We don't have to stay in for him to make it "Live". He just needs to poke about with a screwdriver in the green box at the end of the street. At least that way we can still go out and about with the Girls at some point.
The Internet on the other hand is a different thing. This is where DH goes off the deep end at them.
Once the phone line is live. We have to phone SKY yet again. :irked: This time to request the Internet. Why they can't just bring the two bits at once i will never know. Once the disc arrives we can plug in and go. Hopefully the disc we have for here will activate it. Seeing as we are taking the same phone number with us.
I hope for my sanity and for SKY's sake it works first time.
DH is like a badger with a sore *** if the Internet is down for more than a day.

After the frustration of being on hold with SKY for so long. I decided to take my anger out on the Freezer.
Was happily battering the heck out of the ice when i noticed something moving. Right at eye level and about six inches from my face on the wall. I looked round to see the BIGGEST spider i have ever seen this side of the Equator.
I hate spiders with a passion and jumped up like a lunatic. I ran from the room to get some shoes on. If there's nothing on my feet when i see a spider i'm a total wreck. If i have shoes on i can cope if they run. Daft i know, but the thought of one running on my foot turns my blood to water. :bbeek:
I had nothing to batter it with except a roll of bubblewrap nearby. Not quite the Uzi i was wanting but there was nothing else. So i whacked it for the pesky critter to run across the floor.
This is no exaggeration but it was so big it couldn't get it's body under the cooker. :bbeek: It was stuck between the cooker and the bottom of the kitchen unit. Wriggling around with it's boots on.
In panic i sprayed fly spray at it. Yeah, yeah i know a spider is not a fly. But it stunned it long enough to find something a bit more better than bubblewrap.
All the time i was half screaming like a five year old and retching like a 40 year old. But it's not walking around the house rent-free no more. Infact it will have trouble walking anywhere. I battered it so much with a wooden spoon. The legs are everywhere. *Shudder*.
I might not go to heaven for killing a spider. And i know they are supposed to be more scared of us than us of them. But given the option. I would take the chance and splat it. Mother Nature is a biatch.
 Mitch, I'm the same way with spiders. I have Matt kill them whenever possible - even the daddy long legs spiders!
So, when Matt's not home, I have what I call my "liquid Matt". I've learned so far the only thing that works for Black Widows is Carburetor or Brake cleaner. Although I haven't tried spider spray - the carb and brake cleaner dries fast like gasoline does, so I like to use that - plus it can spray quite accurately.
So back to the story - we have lots of black widows.... and I *freek out* when I see them. If I were to find one as close as you did I'd probably have stopped breathing. I think I've phobic of them or something cuz I get all choked up if I find one close by and I get hot flashes and jitters. Frustrating... but at least now I know I'm not the only one - even if you are on the other side of the equator (aren't you?) lol.

Still havn't picked up the "Legs" of the spider. I can be such a scruff at times lol. Just the thought of going near them is turning my tummy.
DH made me laugh last night. He asked if there was any packing to do.:ooh:
As if he was going to help lol. He only has to look round to see most of it is done. Apart from the stuff we are using everyday. Things like clothes, plates, bowls, cutlery etc.
He has never packed a box in his life. But he is in for a shock on Saturday night. When i sit back and watch him dismantle the PC, Printer and miles and miles of wires beneath the desk. Then take the legs off the desk for ease of movement. It is so big it wont go through the door with the legs on. And even then he will probably ask for help. I can manage it solo, it's not exactly rocket science.
I'm a bit peeved because i never found my Nans antique mirror in the attic. I have a nasty feeling i left it in the attic at the Cottage we moved from to come here. If that is the case then i can kiss that goodbye. We don't speak to our so-called "Friends" we were renting from. I just hope it is in the garage across town where i keep my Classic Car. Will drive over there some time next week and have a look. No point in rushing over there now. It wont make any difference if i look now or later. Plus i can take the girls along. They have never seen my 1969 Metropolitan Police Car. They are always asking if i still have her.
Another thing missing is both our Birth Certificates. Will have to get copies done. I looked in a box i thought they were in. But turned up empty handed. They are easy enough to replace. The only snag is going 300 miles to get DH's replaced. Mine is here in town where we got Married.
Wow that was Ten Months ago today. :D
nice to know i am not alone with my spider fear i didnt go in the kitchen for a week as there was one in there an i didnt know were it went to
no cooking for a week he he
it may be daft being that i am bigger than it but this one could have put boots on an tapped its way across the room.
mitch post a pic of your car if you have one i like classic cars i love lots of old fords but for the life of me cant think what the met used in the 60s
Mitch, you gotta share pics of your car! It sounds awsome!

I don't have any pics of my actual car on the PC. (They are all stuck on dead hard drives) :bbcry:
But here's a pic of one of her "Cousins".
It's a Morris Minor "Panda" Car. I used to run the Register for the Classic Car Club. But had to retire when i left the Ex-Husband.
I bought her as my first car when i passed my test. But have not driven her for over seven years now. She is stored in a Garage across town. I'm still debating on either restoration or selling her on. She has all the Police Badges and roof sign. A Police Radio. Even Police Hats, Truncheon and Handcuffs. Used to do over 30 rallies a year. And clocked her at 400,000+ miles.
She will be 40 years old on September 1st 2009.
I used to see this car on the Rally Circuit every year. The one in the photo is a 1970 Car. So a bit newer than mine lol.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w229/mitchymoomoo/3262202367_bb05116298.jpg
If i remember i will get a photo of me and her at the garage when i go over there.
OooOOOOO nice! That's snazzy! I say if it's not bothering anyone, hang onto it for a while longer yet - but I'm a packrat when it comes to vehicles, so don't listen to me LOL.

Had a very eventful day with the post today. Lots of parcels arrived just in time for the move.
My new Broom arrived at work. He only posted it yesterday and promised it would be here.
Spice jars i have been waiting three weeks for finally arrived before i went to work.
And a Bed throw i got on eBay for £10 ($16.48) also arrived. I wasn't in to get it but the next door neighbour took it in.
Chuffed to bits with the Throw because it will go well in the new / old Bedroom. The thought of putting Lilac Bedding (Which we have now) into a Burgundy Bedroom (At the new / old house) made my head rush. Can't stand clashing colours.
I've been after one of these for years. But they have always been really expensive in the UK. So to get one for a Tenner was a snip.
Then to find out it still had tags on. Was brand spanking new and in original bag. Well that's an extra bonus. :D

In an ideal world i would keep her. Because she was my very first car. Plus we went miles together. DH says to get rid and free up the cash spent on renting the garage.
My Cousin e-mailed me months ago asking to rent half the garage. He's paying something near £200 ($329) a month to store stuff in "Big Yellow". Where as the garage costs £35 ($58) a month. But we were coming up to the Wedding at the time. So it got put on the back burner.
If i can clear the rest of the junk out. Move the car over a tadge. Then give him a call. Maybe we can both benefit.
I can charge him £100 ($165) a month

Two more days at work.
Will be picking up Daughters #2 and #4 on Friday. No doubt leaving here at "Stupid O'Clock".
Daughter #2 phoned DH yesterday to say she has changed shifts at work. So instead of finishing at 5.30PM. She should be done by 12.30PM. That way i can pick them up and get back South at a reasonable hour.
If the roads are empty i can do the trip in 3.5 hours. But that is breakneck speed and well over the speed limit of 70mph. :bbeek:
After work today i'll get the spare bed out ready for the Girls. We have a single bed that has another single underneath. You pull the bottom one out on wheels. Pop it up on legs and make a six foot wide double. Due to lack of space here. I will put them up as two singles against one wall. That way we can still get to the PC before it goes offline on Saturday night. Plus DH can get to the desk to unplug it all. He WILL do some packing LOL.
If it stays dry today i hope to give the lawns another mow. DH thinks i'm mad for doing it when we are leaving. But a tidy garden all goes towards getting the full deposit back. I have a feeling we are going to lose some for not wallpapering the spare room. But if they get funny about it. Then i will show them the bills for the decor we have done here.
The Landlord we are going back with tried to get £50 out of us for cleaning the hall carpet when we lived there. So i hit him with a £2,500 bill for Plastering, Paint and Paper that we did do. So he backed down. Landlords can be funny. But they can come unstuck when they find out i know my rights as a tenant. ;)
You're so close!!! I can't wait till you're all moved in :)
Have you posted pics of this place yet??

There is a photo of the new / old house on here somewhere. I found out that the Letting Agent had actually used a photo i took. :bbeek: How they got hold of it i don't know.
I remember taking it because my old car is in the photo. Plus DH's St George Flags are in the windows. It was taken the day before we got the St George Flag that covered half the house.
Nothing much has changed. Apart from the tree in the front has grown another two foot and split into two plants. And the front garden is covered in weeds. Need to clear that and re-concrete the gaps between the slabs.

Very nice!! I like the entry way. So is this like a townhome (in the US, a townhome is a home connected to other homes), or is that whole place a separate house?
The parts that have the Brown wood window frames is our house. It's in the middle of a Terrace.
Each house has the same layout. But the Porch on the front (The same as next door) is an extention. We guess they were added at the same time to share the roof and guttering.
The Front Door opens into an open-plan Hallway / Dining Room with the stairs to the first floor going up the middle of the house. The Lounge is to the right. The Kitchen is behind the Dining Room on the left.
Upstairs has Two Double Bedrooms, A Study (Third Bedroom) Seperate Toilet and Bathroom. Plus a full Attic in the roof.
We have a massive Conservatory (Sun Room) at the back that runs the full length of the house. You can get to it either through a back door in the Kitchen. Or through Patio Doors at the back of the Lounge.
French Doors on the Conservatory open out onto a Patio that is full width of the house. You step down to a small lawn with a central path.
At the bottom of the Garden is a massive brick built outhouse. Which has full electrics. A Work Bench put in by us. This building also has a Patio Door and a six foot wide window on the front. It's like a little home from home down there. When i start building Dolls Houses again i will be down there for hours. ;)

Last day at work. This time tomorrow i will be an hour away from collecting the girls.
Went round to the shop to get the last bit of Electric on the Key. We pay as we use here and top it up every week. When i phone the Electric Company with the meter reading, i'm going to ask if i can have a Key Meter at the new house. It's a lot easier than worrying about a bill every quarter.
The Gas is on a Card Meter. Which is topped up the same way. Once again i will ask to change it. If there's any charge for doing so i will have to think again. :ooh:
These things can be done last minute. I just have to remember where the Water Meter is in the street. I know it's in the ground somewhere. It will be sods law i read the nextdoor neighbours LOL.
It's getting a bit desperate here. Having to pay out for various bits to move. Money has been a bit tight. DH did a job on the QT last night and got paid cash so that was handy. The only downfall was he got in at 11PM. On top of doing his day job which started at 4.30AM. :bbeek: He walked in covered from head to foot in Diesel. So he stripped off there and then so i could wash his clothes. Needless to say i didn't get to bed until almost 1AM. Then back up at 5AM.
DH is back there tonight for more of the same. Hopefully he will get home at a reasonable hour. The extra pays for the self-drive Van. And our Tattoos next Tuesday. ;)
Now i can go to the Supermarket after work and get Tea Bags. I ran out of them at Midnight. And being a BIG Tea drinker resorting to Coffee this morning is bordering on insanity LOL. How DH drinks this stuff everyday is beyond me. I need Tea first thing. Might have to go to work a tadge early just to get my fix.

A "Friend" of ours had a 300 year old cottage in the Countryside laying empty next door to her. So we rented that out. She owns both houses and lived in one. It used to be the Village School and one building many years ago. But was split into two seperate dwellings at the turn of the 20th Century.
We moved in and everything was great to begin with. Then she started to change into ME. :bbeek:
I would dye my hair bright Red. Within a week she had Red hair. I would dye mine Purple. Within a week hers was Purple.
It got to the stage where i was very tempted to shave my head bald. Just to see if she would copy that.
She started wearing Rock T-shirts, Jeans, Boots and a Biker Jacket like i have for years. DH said i was being paranoid. But then a good friend of mine noticed the same thing. Especially when she saw her in the street and thought it was me. Even calling MY name out for her to look round and answer. :bbeek:
Then the ultimate betrayal. She started sniffing round my DH. :irked:
Needless to say we packed up quickly and within ten months we were back in town in the house we live in at the moment. Never telling them we were leaving or where we were going.
We were hoping to get the house we left to go there. But it was occupied by the people i showed round. As soon as i found out it was on the market again i phoned the Letting Agent. Nearly three years later and full circle we are going back. :D
oh mitch the cottage sounded great the mate sounds psycho its not a nice feeling to be let down by someone you trust but i am happy you got out of the whole situation real fast an i hope you will both be very happy in your new/old home it sounds fab an light an roomy

Well Ladies. The Internet goes offline sometime tonight. So a quick update before i'm silenced for a few days.
Collected the girls yesterday. They shut the Motorway so i had to turn round and find another route. Took me 5 hours to get there. And another five hours to get back. Was absolutely shattered by the time i got home. I think at one point i drove on the Cats Eyes like a form of Braille to get home.
Got the keys to the new house this morning at 10am. Went round and cleaned the whole ground floor so we can move the boxes and stuff in tomorrow.
Picked up the Self-Drive Van at 5pm. DH wanted to do a load tonight. But we can't get the Van anywhere near the house to load it up. Hopefully the cars outside will go out tomorrow morning. Or if one moves tonight i will jump in it's grave with my car.
After the drive yesterday and the cleaning today everyone is too knacked to even get off the sofa. I still have a few bits to pack. Was going to cook a "Last Supper" but DH said we can order Pizza. So now i can pack the rest of the pots and pans.
One more sleep and we are off. There is a load of stuff to get rid of at the new house. For some reason there are THREE Washing Machines there. :bbconfused: I know for a fact that two don't work. One was ours to start with and another is the Landlords that we know leaks like a sieve. Plus there are three beds we don't want or need. Hopefully we can get permission to throw them out. If not then we have to store them in the shed. Which will make space a bit tight down there.
Considering we are this close to moving i am still calm about it. I have no surprises that would throw me. I've moved so many times, nothing surprises me anymore.
I just want tomorrow to get here. And that BMW to move from the bottom of our path.
I'm off now. You can all talk about me while i'm gone.
Hopefully i'm back online within the week.
Be good at being bad. xx
