Hi All,
I am just curious if anyone out there has been diagnosed ( and is living with ) diabetes type 2?
I am planning to go get tested as soon as we are back from our HM, but it seems like i have the symptoms.
I am tired all the time, even with taking a multi vitamin and getting more sleep than i used to.
I have gone from no night time pee trips to up to 7 ( sorry if TMI)
i am always drinking, i always did drink a lot but it seems more now.
I have been dieting and exercising for a long time, but the effects have become nothing over the last 8 or so months.
i find i also have more mood swings than i did before.
According to the Govt Health website for Diabetes these can all be symptoms.
just wondered about anyone else's experiences?

I just got diagnosed. Except for the 7 times a night those were my symptoms. I have a A61 level of 7.5 (fasting) and my blood sugar before I started taking medication was anywhere from 196 to 172.
I would suggest you get the blood work done as soon as possible. Diabetes is not something you want to wait on. My niece who has Type 1, almost lost her eyesight before they figured out what was wrong. She now has to wear an insulin pump.
On the plus side Type two is controllable by medication (pill) and you will feel so much better in just days. Eat lots of fresh vegetables and stay away from Carbs. Eating Potatoes is like mainlining sugar so stay away from them.
If I can answer any questions just let me know. Hope you are feeling better soon.

I was diagnosed with Type 2 about 2 years ago. My symptoms were similar to yours, but I also started loosing weight for no reason at all. I wasn't dieting at all, and the weight just started to fall off. (I liked this side effect of the disease alot because I ended up losing about 50 lbs before I was diagnosed but I knew something was wrong because I have always had to work too hard to lose the weight.) I also had constant dry mouth and always wanted a drink. The constant urination was also an issue for me as well. I have also noticed a change in my eyesight, but part of that according to the eye doctor is my age too- It sucks to turn 43 and see everything going downhill! :(
I have struggled to get my blood sugar under control and have gone from not having to take any meds everyday to now being on Metformin (Glucophage generic), Byetta (injectable), Lantus (Insulin), Glimeperide (another pill), Crestor (Cholesterol) and now an ace inhibitor (another pill). I hate all the meds and the Byetta and Insulin means 3 needles a day in my stomach in addition to pricking my finger to test. I feel like a walking medicine cabinet these days. It is a really good thing that I have good insurance because even my co-pays are expensive! The last round of meds my co-pays were over $250 for 3 months and the total cost of the meds were almost $1000.
Yet even as much as I hate all of the meds, I can't seem to wrap my head around a decent diet plan and exercise. I would like to say that I am still in denial, but 2 years is a long time to be in that state of mind. My biggest problem is that I like carbs, and sweets, and breads and I have no willpower. Even with all of these drugs in my system, I'm still seeing readings of 200+ fasting. I have an appointment with an Endocrinologist that specializes in diabetes care on the 21st, and I plan to ask her about doing something extreme with my diet because I can't seem to do it on my own. I have been researching the Medifast diet program because they have a specific plan for Type 2 diabetics and even though it is very restrictive, it might be what I need to finally get a handle on things. The crazy thing for me is that I have found that my sugars have been so high for so long that my body is used to the levels and when the are anywhere close to normal, I feel horrible.
As kvettegirl said, you will want to get it checked out as soon as you can because Diabetes is one of those diseases that can affect so many of your organs and you want to get it under control as quickly as possible. The other thing that you will find is that it is a disease that is different for each person affected by it. What works for me as far as meds, diet, and exercise might not work for you and it is going to take some time to figure out what you need to do to get it under control.
I'm here too to answer any questions you have. It is a scary thing to go from being healthy to having a disease like diabetes, but it can be controlled once you figure out what works for you.

Thanks for your input Ladies!
Makes me feel better knowing other have experienced things like this as well.
I am planning to get tested as soon as i can, and will let you all know.
I'm not too worried about needles - i also have a clotting disorder so inject an anticoagulant daily when i travel. And i already take pills in the mornings - multi vitamins, headache tablets, ant acid tablets etc. But hopefully some kind of diagnosis will clear things up.
Thankyou!

i went to the doc today to get a referral for the test, but he did a pin prick test and my sugar is too low for me to be diabetic. Yay.
In stead i will have a full blood screen to see if any other issues.
