Hi ya'll

Just wondering what brand of Dishwasher you have, and if you're happy with it. I can pick whatever brand I want for my kitchen - so far I've requested Whirlpool, but haven't set any decision in stone yet. I can get this (http://www.whirlpool.com/catalog/product.jsp?parentCategoryId=74&categoryId=108&subCategoryId=109&productId=1563#tabs)whirlpool for $193 out of pocket through my insurance company. It's energy star qualified, and she says it's one of the top brands, that's why it "costs so much". LOL.

So... what brand should I go with? The new Kenmore is now frigidaire (I think that's what the contractor said) and he said they're not recommended. The one I have now is a Kenmore, so I'm steering clear cuz it's a POS!

When we lived in an apartment we bought a cheap and cheerful. It did the job and I had no complaints BUT ....

When we moved in our house, the dishwasher (a GE Max) came with it. It has all kinds of bells and whistles and features (most of which we don't use). I am not convinced that it does any better of a cleaning job but, the big difference that I have noticed is the SOUND. It is REALLY HARD to hear this fancy machine working. It's soooooooooooo quiet!

Cheap and Cheerful - is that the name of the brand? I've never heard of it.

My manager suggested Maytag, and my coworker seconded that. I've got the quote on the Whirlpool... I'm going to have to call back and see what a Maytag goes for... unless I get some better ideas here :)

We used to have a whirlpool very similar to the one you posted at our old house and it never seemed to dry the dishes very well, and it was a little noisier than the one we have now. We currently have a frigidaire and are happy with it. http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=297500-2251-FDB1100RHM&lpage=none
It is quiet, is an energy star, and cleans and dries quickly and efficiently.
I love the dishwashers that have drawers, and if I could pick any one (without worrying about the cost), I would pick one of these

Good luck!

I want to say that Kenmore and Whirlpool are one in the same too.

Thank you Dani... I knew my contractor said Kenmore and some other (I thought it was Fridgaire) were something to steer clear of. If it's Whirlpool then I'm steering clear. Thanks for the heads up!

So far, I've only heard good about Maytag.... My manager has this one (http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=141048-46-MDB5601AWW&lpage=none) and he says he's been using it for 7 years and had no problems with it.

Has anyone had any experience with GE? I think that my old d/w (that I loved) was GE..... but I'm not positive.

So I talked to an appliance specialist at HD (they have chat online!) and he said this (http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?jspStoreDir=hdus&catalogId=10053&productId=100371909&navFlow=3&keyword=mdbh945aww&langId=-1&searchRedirect=mdbh945aww&storeId=10051&endecaDataBean=com.homedepot.sa.el.wc.catalog.bean s.EndecaDataBean%40999ff35&ddkey=THDStoreFinder) is the 'best selling' dishwasher at Home Depot. It's also the one my manager recommended that he's had for 7 years with no complaints. So.. I'm going to call my warranty company today to see what they can get it for me for :)

 no, cheap and cheerful isn't a brand .... but an expression :) We bought the cheapest DW in the store.

That's what we have now - the GE Max. I don't know how old it is since it came with our house but it's wonderfully quiet!

Maytag anything is normally good as is Frigidair.

I personally won't by anything from Sears but that's because I have had too many run ins with them with regards to repairing machines. I would rather give my $$$ to a store that will stand behind what they sell.
