Ok so i've been into taking pictures of the weird things i come across in my day to day life. Last weekend we went up toour cottage which is just outside Haliburton. On Saturday we went into town and at the V&S store we came across this.... Mark and i had to buy it simply because it was so funny and bizzard.

They also had Moses, Edgar Allen Poe, Albert Einstein, and so on. i never imagined in my wildest dreams a Jesus action figure! He has poseable arms and gliding action.

Don't get me wrong here, I am a Jesus Freak, but I don't think I need the action figure ... yeah that is weird :bbconfused: I doubt you'd find anything like that in the US though :p ;)
So did they have Buddha and Allah and all those other guys too? ;)
I think the closest thing to this I've seen is in a Noah's Arc toy set.

I agree.... i think it is so bizzar. Mar is much more religous then i am and he loves it. Not that he'll ever do anything more then simply enjoy knowing he has it.
They did not have Buddha or Allah or any other religous icons. I've seen lots of movies and toys at the Christian supply shop but nothing like this.

I have enver seen soemthignlike that but can I ask why you all would not buy it? Is itjust because you think it is weird.
I am not a huge religous person but I am teaching my kids a little about it all here and there.
What is the difference between a Jesus action figure and a spiderman action figure. Spider man is not real , just a costume in the movies. Jesus is not some one you can see and some will argure he is not real. Kids dont know the difference. My son had the Noah's Ark toy a couple of years ago. It had all the animals and Noah and his wife. What is the difference there?
I am not trying to start anything by any means I was jsut wondering why you all thought it to be so strange. It is not realy much differnt the a little Jesus statue is it.

The thing that bothers me the most about it is that I think it lessens the sanctity of Jesus Christ. It scares me on what they are going to do next. He's better than that to me. I just don't like it.

I have to agree with Gwen!! come on, it's a toy and if you love Jesus so much why not let your child play with the action figure. Woudln't that in a way be better to play with than some of the other toys they have out now a days. I'm not trying to start anything either, but if I actually believed in Jesus to me it woudl be the toy I WOULD let my child play with instead of some GI joe toy that comes with guns!!!!! Or any other toy that is violent or repulsive!!

Well, I guess since I do believe in Him very much, I think He is too good to be an action figure. I will get Malachi a Superman to play with, but I will not get him a Jesus Christ to play with. Just my opinion, since Gwen asked for it. :)

You know I didn't really think it was a big deal until I read this. I can't imagine hearing this. I think it is too weird and bazzar....I would not buy this for my kids. Kids look at these figures and think of how cool it would be to be that specific person...how do you aspire to be Jesus?!?! Weird...

So what about the Noah's Ark my son had?
( again please dont think I am trying to start something cause I am not I hate drama, just making conversation here )
My daughter has barbies and Bratz. She doesnt want to be either of those thank god. She watns to be a princess when she grows up.
My son may want to be super man or spider man but again he is only 5 ( on Tuesday ).
My kids know who Jesus is and they understand that they cant be him. They play house and one is the mom and one is the kid and so forth. But they never play that one is God or Jesus.
They say their prays and read the stories and ask questions. I answer them the best I can. Now I am not saying rather I Would or would not buy this for my child. I am not sure. To me it is more for somes one to set out and be seen not used. ( Like my moms figures of Captain Jack Sparrow, they are for show dont touch them lol )
And not to sound like I keep repeating myself but this was no in intened to cause drama, I hate drama as much as the next person. Just making conversation. Repy if ya want or dont if you dotn want to. I would never put any oen down for their comment not would I expect to be put down for mine. This is what I love about this place.

I think the little Jesus guy is kind of funny. If you want to play with Jesus, go for it. You could be looking up to or wanting to learn about far worse in my opinion. It isn't like they are painting him in an unfavorable light. He is just standing there. Trust me, I have seen way worse Jesus dolls at places like Media Play, Spencers, and Urban Outfitters. Personally, I wouldn't waste my money on it as it would serve no purpose for me. I'm not religious. I don't collect action figures. And frankly, I just don't like that kind of stuff sitting around the house.
Just remember one thing. NEVER lose your sense of humor even when dealing with religion. Don't take anything to seriously. When you do that you become fanatical. Remember the Muhammad cartoons a few months back? people died because they weren't able to just write it off as someone not sharing their exact belief. Keep your sense of humor while still keeping your diginity.

I wouldn't have any problem with the Noah's Ark. Actually, that would be kind of cute with the little animals marching out of the Ark two by two. I guess everyone has their tolerances, and the JC thing is a little too much for me. But to each his own, it's just a personal preference type of a thing, and I'm happy everyone has different views. It makes for a very diverse forum! :)

Conversation is good. I hope i didn't step on anyones toes by sharing this. I thought it was kinda bizzar and cute. Mark got it because it was so bizzar. It made him really happy. It's been really neat to have.
I don't know that this is somthing i would incourage my children to play with. But if they really wanted to i wouldn't say no. I think it would be much better then them wanting to play with guns and go arround pretending to shoot other kids.
As for how do you aspire to be jesus. I think if that was the case you would be interested in becoming a preist or a minister and representing god. If my son or daughter came to me and said that is what they wanted to do with their lives. Serve God. I would be so proud.

I think for religious collectors, it would be a cool thing to have. If my children told me they wanted to be a priest or nun, I would be ok with it. But if they told me they wanted to be Jesus Christ, I would be scared because Charles Manson wanted to be JC, and a lot of his followers thought he was. Oooooooh, creepy! LOL!

I found some funny stuff about this subject on the internet, if you're interested.
Jesus Christ, Pop Star
Finally, what we’ve all been waiting for – the Jesus action figure.
It’s a new kind of Jesus for the postmodern generation. Not the Jesus of Sunday School pictures, softly lit and holding a lamb. Nor is it the looming crucifix of a Catholic church. It’s Jesus meets G.I. Joe – a 6-inch tall plastic, white robed toy: “with poseable arms and gliding action!” according to the box. I bought my Jesus action figure at my local Urban Outfitters store, next to the Kung Fu Hamster and the mullethead dolls.

It's hilarious, you can get God and the Pope too. They might be collector's items later, so it might be a good idea to purchase them and put them away.:D

That is really weird. I don't know how I would feel about it to be honest with you....my thought was, "What will they think of next?" It's not something I will ever buy.

Truth be told, I could see these being used in Sunday school classes. That said, I would like to see a gazillion other period figures & the diciples to go with Him. Perhaps some scenery sets as well to illustrate the bible stories; a fishing boat, a mount, the temple ....
Guess it's no different than nativity figures really. It's just a little different to find them in a VS store LOL

Well IMO, aspiring to be more 'Christ Like' is what many religious ppl strive for. But, wanting to BE Jesus (or any other 'god' type figure) is usually a sign of an unstable person (i.e. Charles Manson)
The more I think of this little action figure though, I guess it isn't a big deal as long as no one is praying to it or poking fun at it. But I don't think I would buy one.
I am very much a religious person, but not in the way most ppl think. My faith is a huge part of my life and who I am, but I do not think I'm fanatical. I have tattoos and listen to metal music after all ;) I think I might be put in that 'Post Modern' category. I believe in God, but not in organized religion (so to speak) and I don't really go to church ... when I do it is not a church like most ppl think.

The more reading I do on it, the less offensive these little guys seem to me. As far as religion is concerned, I'm a Christian, I love Jesus Christ, I believe he died for my sins, but I don't go to church. So I'm religious but not in the sense that I'm a bible thumping church goer. lol

Yeah, that is me ... I have a bible and I read it (not as much as I should), but I don't thump it ;) I believe that each of us has a unique relationship with God and each of us may walk a different path with Him. I don't need to be that 'typical' church goer to know God.
I know there are many beliefs out there and many that contradict mine and that is fine. I can respect the choices and beliefs of others (I don't have to follow or agree with them, nor do they to me) as long as they can do the same of mine. Well, I guess that is all I will say on that subject.

I am the same way as you Karen and and weblady. I have my beliefs but I dont go to church. I belive that I am a good person. I dont stlea or hurt others. I take care of my kids and make sure they know about god and jesus. In this I beleive I will got to heaven.
Some think that if you dont go to church and learn the wrods that you wont know the difference if and when he comes back. I cant see god not letting me into heaven because I didnt go to church. That is a bucnh of bull if you ask me. Again just my way of thinking here. I have nothing against poeple who go to church at all. I have a good freind who is big into church and is a leder of a youth group and such. WhenI talked to my ex-MIL about this freind once she said you know her and her husband are in church dont you. I said yeah I know and told her I knew about her youth groups and such. I dont know if she thought that we shouldnt hang out because Iwasnt into it like she is or not. She does not puch her faith onme and I dont try to get her to do something she wouldnt want to do. This is why we are such good freinds.

Mark and i go to church. We go to his church rather then mine because he is much more interested in being apart of it. I have my own issues i am dealing with. But i go to support him and its a quiet time for me to reflect on things. You don't have to go to a specific place to belive or to talk to god. Where ever you are he is listening in my opinion.
The pope action figure is weird. Which pope is it?!
