I thought I'd give you girls/guys an update on my 2 doggies. Let's start with Xander, the GSD. We took him to the vet yesterday for check up. The vet says he's in excellent health. He's a good weight (90.1 pounds). His teeth are in excellent shape and we don't have to start brushing them. The vet said to transition him to senior dog food in a few months because he's 6.5 years old now. That made us, especially DH, sad because it's a sign of Xander's mortality. Xander did really well with the shots. He didn't even bark once.
Now for Fred. We took Fred to get groomed last week. The groomer recommended brushing Fred's teeth. We started doing that. We talked to the vet about that yesterday during Xander's physical and she agreed with the groomer since poodle's have genetically week teeth. We've been taking Fred to obedience class at Petco. It's a six week course. It's once a week on Sundays. We went to our first class over the weekend. There were three doggies in the obedience class. Rudy, a chocolate lab/golden retriever mix; Dobby, a long haired chihuahua; and Fred, our toy poodle. Out of the three dogs in the class, I'd say Fred did the worst. When we did leash work, Fred wouldn't move. When we tried to teach them to sit, Fred stood up on his hind legs. But we've been working with Fred and so far DH has got him to sit twice.
