We have picked a date (May 30, 2010) but do not have a location. Would it be totally crazy to send the STDs without a venue set in stone? I have two ideas for locations, but they are about 40 minutes away from each other, so I though about saying Sacramento, so people would know it would be near home, or Northern Ca so to keep the option open for either place. I would like to send the STDs as soon as possible due to the fact it is a holiday weekend, to make sure people have plenty of time to plan.
Thanks!

You could have on it "Venue TBA" ?
that way they know it keep the weekend free and once you know send a update with a venue.
That would work.
Better that than putting one place and changing your mind:)

I don't think most STDs say the location of the wedding, unless it's a destination wedding. It's mostly to let people know they need to hold the date for your wedding.

I would only be cautious about sending out STDs if you don't know if your venues are available. Sometimes, you fall in love with a location and it's not available on your date and you have to swap it for a different weekend. If you're for sure set on that date though, and you'll find any venue that will take you that day, then you can definitely send out the STDs.

I sent out Save the Date's although my venue wasn't booked, I just didnt have that part on it. I pretty much had an idea where I was having it though and had an appointment with the place.

Yep, it is fine ... STD's are just sort of a mini announcement that you are getting married on whatever date and details are soon to come :)

Wow, thank you all!!! That relieves a little stress! I guess that means I need to get busy on the address list! I do like the idea of "venue TBA"
Thanks again :)

Mine say the date and city we're getting married in... so people can plan... we ended up w/a venue outside of the city but it's just a suburb n not a big difference....

when i did mine i wrote "boynton beach, florida" that way people knew if they would have to travel or not but didnt state the actual place. i rarely get an std in the mail with ACTUAL locations

I just put the city and state on ours even though we knew what our venue would be. If I had put the place and time, i don't feel like it would have been a STD, it would have been an invitation!
