So, I posted that I was going to wear my mom's wedding dress. Well, it has some stains on the bottom, and I took it to the cleaners to see if they could get them off, and the cleaners proceed to find a few more :bbeek: small ones, I mean, I didn't notice them before, though I guess if you clean clothes for a living you've got an eye for this stuff. That, and the ones on the bottom were higher than what we could hem and take them off.
So I'm telling my mom about all of this, and she goes, "Christine, you don't have to wear that dress if you don't want to" and I tell her that the dress is my style, and I love the history behind it, but I'm having a hard time getting it to fit right and to work. And we're talking about the ways that I could get it to work. It was also a really comforting conversation because I was telling her how I am afraid that everyone's going to hate my wedding, and that we'll be the next family joke if it doesn't go completely according to plan, or if it does, and all that nervousness, and in true to Mom fashion, she told me some stuff about how when she got married, people's reactions, and her outlooks on them now and it was exactly what I needed to hear/know to feel much better about it.
I have the best Mom ever, is pretty much the point of that paragraph.
Well, I guess after the conversation, Mom dug out her trunk of clothes and special stuff. Turns out she lost the key, so she picked the lock with a bobby pin (I repeat - Best Mom Ever!). Pulls out her prom dress, and leaves it out for me to try on. The style is almost the same, but the fabric is much lighter, it is much cleaner, and much more comfortable. It fits better! It's a gauzy material that's light, it's lined and did I repeat comfortable?
I'll need this one hemmed too, but it doesn't look tight on me.

So it looks like instead of my mom's wedding dress, I'll be wearing her prom dress. :D :D :D
