We have talked about getting a new roof off and on for a couple of years; we have a couple of leaks and it is just old.

We had a bad hail storm a few months ago and recently we noticed several of our neighbors were getting new roofs. So DH asked a couple of them what was up and they both said they go their home owners insurance to pay for it.

Well, DH called in a claim for us too. It went faster than I thought; only took a week from having the adjuster out to inspect everything and then get an estimate and then get the check.

DH called a few people trying to find someone to do the work, but sort of got the run around. He talked about it at work and one of the guys he works with knows some people, so he and DH worked it all out in a couple of days.

So we have a big dumpster in the yard now and shingles and such out there waiting on the roofing crew in the morning. Hopefully it will be a one day thing and there will be no problems.

I will be happy not to have to worry about the leaks anymore!

I am a little worried about how the dogs will react to all the noise though. They were not happy when the fence people came, so I am sure this will be worse for them.

Can you and the doggies go to your Moms for the day? Good luck with your roof!

We couldn't go to my parent's place because they are not comfortable there (don't know anyone and are really shy), plus my Mom's dog doesn't play well with others.

But anyway; the roof was done on Saturday and all is well :) They were a little bothered by things, but didn't do as bad as I expected them to.

Glad everything went smoothly. Our condo complex is currently being re-roofed and I'm also a little worried about how our dogs will do when they get to our building (especially since we're on the top floor!) but hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised too!
