Our story actually starts before we met. In 2002-2003, I became really good friends with a girl I went to school with named Liz. We found out very quickly we had very similar tastes in music, a lot of the same values, and similar pasts.

She was a senior in High School, I was a freshman, but she became a very fast friend. She had a friend who was dating her older brother Ryan, and they got engaged. He was in the Marines, and she went to school with us. I didn't like the girl, but didn't have the heart to tell Liz that Kim was cheating on Ryan. I only knew, because I overheard her on the bus talking about a guy she had met at a club.

In June of 2003, I got a phone call from Liz telling me Ryan was home on leave and he was having a party, she asked if I wanted to go. I agreed readily, as I had heard a lot about Ryan and he seemed like the type of guy I could become friends with.

They came by and picked me up. Before Liz got a chance to introduce me and Ryan, he turned from the driver's seat, looked at me and said "You're a f@#$ing b&*()!" My eyes nearly popped out of my head! I didn't even know what to say to him, so I just glared.

Earlier in the year, I had loaned Liz a book of mine, when we got back to their house, Ryan found out it was mine and decided it would be funny to hold it over my head just out of reach. I got mad and stormed off.

After about 30 minutes of Ryan tormenting me, I tried convincing Liz to get Ryan to drive me home, but she said he wouldn't do it, because we would be leaving to go to the party within the next 15 minutes. She convinced me to stay at least for the party, and the next day Ryan would drive me home.

We left to go to the party, and I mingled with some of the people I recognized from school. We were drinking that night, Liz and I found a nice spot on the ground (this was an outdoor party), and hung out for a while. She left to go talk to some people and Ryan came over to me.

I was very bitter towards him in the beginning for what I hope are obvious reasons. He apologized to me and I asked him why Kim wasn't there. He told me that the day before, he had broken up with her when he heard she was cheating on him, which was part of the reason why he was so mean to me, he was pretty upset about what had happened.

I immediately felt sorry for him, especially since I had already heard her talking about the guy she cheated on with him. Eventually, I realized how nice of a guy Ryan really was. He told me about his time in the Marines, and I told him about how me and Liz became friends.

We talked all night, until the sun came up. I thought he was amazing. Plans of me going home that day quickly ended. We spent the next two days together.

He went back to the Marines, and we kept in touch online. We both decided it would be best if we just remained friends, because of the distance and my age (I was 15, he was 19).

The next year, we had a family tragedy. Ryan hadn't known about it, and said something silly to me that got me REALLY upset at him, neither one of us remember what he said, but it upset me nonetheless. I didn't talk to him for over a year.

When I started talking to him again, I was in a relationship at the time, and I found out he had moved back to the area. I visited him at work one day with my exboyfriend.

Things between me and my ex got really bad. He was really possessive, and told me he wouldn't allow me to go out anywhere unless he was there. I got REALLY mad, called up Ryan and asked him if he wanted to hang out. He told me he could, but it wouldn't be a long night, as he had work at 11 pm, I told him that was fine and we went over to a friend's house.

That night, I decided I was going to break things off with my ex the next day. The next day, I actually did break things off with him, he made it extremely easy for me.

That night, Ryan came over and we hung out.

On June 16, 2006 he asked me to be his girlfriend and I gladly accepted.

We actually ended up rushing things, and moved in together at the end of June. I was told by a number of people things would never work out between the two of us.

Fast forward to August 8, 2007. We were eating dinner, pancakes to be exact. The whole day he was bugging me about when we were going to get married. We had decided a few months before that we wanted to marry each other, but we weren't going to make it official until he had a ring to put on my finger.

While we were eating (I was actually stuffing a pancake in my mouth at the time), he asked me to marry him and pulled out the ring. I was so overwhelmed, I grabbed the ring out of his hand and didn't give him a chance to put it on my hand.

Now, after being engaged for almost 2 years, we've set our date for August 22, 2009.

I hope you enjoyed the story.:)
