Do u use Zicam?

So I'm watching GMA right now... apparently the FDA has sent out an advisory to STOP all use of Zicam swabs n nasal gel b/c it can cause the loss of smell and taste. The product will be pulled from the shelves until more research is done...

as I have BOTH of these products in house, i will be chucking them today... :irked:

apparently zinc in the nose has been found to have toxic effects :(

thankfully i still have my sense of taste n my sense of smell has always been poor so I can't afford to lose any more... better safe than sorry...

I saw this on our local news last night and was going to post it today! We've never used any of the stuff, but it sounds like the effects of using it just aren't worth it!

I have heard about this before... I think I looked it up after someone recommended it to me, and I saw a bunch of stories on people losing their sense of taste. It definitely scared me out of buying it! It's probably a good thing they're pulling it from shelves.

Wow; how awful would it be to loose your sense of smell and taste?! Well I am sure there are far worse side effects, but that would still suck.

I wonder why they didn't catch this before the stuff was released.

I have used the spray and the liquid that you take by mouth, but not the nasal swabs.

Edit: I mentioned this to DH and he said that the last time he took the liquid stuff by mouth he felt like his taste was off for a couple of months after :bbconfused:
