View Full Version : Help!!!!
I have about 10 months to plan a destination wedding, and I have no idea where to start. My friend and I are planning weddings at the same time and it is turning into a big mess. Not to mention the mother and mother in law trying to get invovled. We plan on getting married on a beach at sunset somewhere warm, when its cold here :bblol: . I really have no idea what to do first. we have everything planned in our head, just bringing it together is harder then it seemed. Does anyone have some pointers or help me with a good destination and maybe give me some hope?
sooooooo Frustrated

Well, first I wanna say Welcome to Onewed!!! Then I think that it is important to ask some questions: Well...where are you from. Exactly when are you planning to get married? How many guests? What type of budget? Any type of theme ideas? What are your ideas already?
Hi there,
Thanks for the welcome :D !
We are from London, Ontario, Canada, We are having a quick engagment. The wedding will take place on Feb. 26 2007 (it's monday) as for the guest, we aren't too too sure yet, we will not be able to afford to pay for everyone, but as of now there are most likely about 15-20 people coming. What we were going to do was have the wedding in the Caribbean, come back for the weekend and have a reception with the people who could not make it there.
We want to get married on the beach at sunset, barefoot (not pregnant though :D ) It wont be a dressy event, he is just plannng on wearing nice khaki pants and a white shirt same with the man standing up with him, and myself a nice white dress and my bridesmaid standing up with me a nice yellow sundress. I have no problems with the reception planning, I have to get through the wedding first though, i don't really know where to start.
Thank you
MOB Karen

Welcome to Onewed. My advice to you would be to locate the resort or hotel that you will be staying at and see if they offer wedding planning service. Most in that region (especially larger resorts) will have something of that nature. Perhaps contact a travel agent to see if they can point you in the right direction.
our problem is we don't quite know where we want to go :bbconfused: . It is becoming hard for me, reading up on all these different resorts and trying to pick one!!!!

Hey and welcome! You have less than 10 months to plan girl! You only have about 7! What you have planned sounds really romantic so far. To expand on Lacey's suggestion, I think you should look into Sandals. They have resorts in Jamaica, Antigua, St. Lucia, and the Bahamas. They have a wedding planner, Preston Bailey.
http://www.sandals.com/general/wedding.cfm
Here is their website
Package prices start at $1700. It includes location decor, bridal bouquet, groom boutonnier, centerpieces, seating for bride and groom with chair covers, natural wood chairs for guest, tablecloths, cake and cake decor, napkins, placemats, and plates.
The top package is $5000. It includes location decor, bouquet, boutonier, conch shells filled with orchids lining the aisle, centerpieces, seating, table cloths, napkin, placemats, cake, candlelit dinner under the wedding tree.
When you guests book 10 rooms or more, the 11th room is free. Maybe you guys could get a free room! Sandals resorts are all inclusive and for couples only. Families can go to a nearby Beaches which is owned by Sandals.

If you choose Sandals, the children can stay at Beaches and you can still have the wedding at the Sandals resort. I'm sure you can all stay at Beaches. I would suggest going to their website and if it interests you, give them a call.
You read my mind, I am looking and requesting info right now :)
Oh my Lord.....This is it...The flowers and well everything is perfect, and not that exspensive...LOVE IT!!!!

From personal experience, don't stay at Beaches Boscobel! I had a horrible time there, and can forward over my review of the place that I sent in to Trip Advisor.
I know this is going to sound silly (and i don't get out much) but where is that?
No so bright,

There are other Beaches properties, though. I hear the one Negril is great. The one in Ocho Rios is called "Boscobel". I was highly displeased with the service and some other things that happened there.

Oh yes they have several resorts and you still get the all inclusive and I think even exchange privleges between the resorts.
the only thing that scares me is the day passes..I am not sure if this means for all the guests that are staying at the beaches resort have to get to attend our wedding. That could get quite costly.

I would suggests that you make a list of questions that you have and call them. They have an 800 number and I'm sure someone would be happy to answer all your questions that you may have with no strings attatched. My honeymoon is going to be at Sandals Royal Carribean and I have called before I booked and talked with them about everything.
Well, i have an update. We have moved the wedding date to Oct 15, 2007. and we are looking at the Sandy Bay Beach in Negril...Thanks weddingdiva you have been a HUGE help.
