Yay!! I have been waiting for this post and Miley pictures! She is precious! So what kind of personality does she have being that mix of breeds? Is she a herder like the Border Collie and Aussie or is she a pacer like the Beagle?

AWwww thanks Kelly!
She is extremely friendly. At first she's kinda standoffish if she doesn't know someone (us for instance at first), but she loves to cuddle, she loves to 'dance'. When I move my feet (running in place pretty much like a dork), she bounces all over the place. She even fetches and sometimes brings the ball back. We're working on that. She calms down very easily, but once one of us gets hyper, she gets hyper. So far she's only barked very little bit - when she has to go potty and she's in her crate, or right when we put her outside before we leave for work.
So far, not sure on the herder part. I really want to get a cat in about 2 weeks so that she'll have a friend to hang out with. We'll see how that goes. Plus, we still have that pesky mouse, so a cat is just the ticket :)

She is just adorable! My dog is part border collie, and let me tell you, he is MUCH smarter than his parents!
It took one time with a treat to teach him to shake, left or right, fall down, (he literally falls to his side in one motion) When we get ready to take him somewhere, we tell him mamma's car or daddy's truck and he goes straight to whichever vehicle we are telling him to. He knows what the hose is. Ask him if he wants to play in the hose and he goes and sits at the end of it until you turn it on. He knows (and we went for the first time in 6 months) grandpa's house.
And my gosh, he would cuddle all day long if you would let him.
Congratulations! She will bring you much joy I am sure.

So I'm guessing she's got the border brains :whoohoo: Matt had her fetching and bringing the ball back in a matter of minutes.
OH! And she LOVES to play in the sprinkler

Be careful what you wish for on fetch! We taught Cooper to fetch and now he is OBSESSED! The minute I get home he runs to get his ball and throws it at me over and over again until I play with him.

My friend's queensland is like that. I don't mind. If we need to we'll hide the ball, but for now, I'm kinda competing to make her fetch better than my mom's dog - and that's going to be a LONG shot because he. is. GOOD.

Thanks - I love her nose too, it's so unique! I am dying to see how big she gets. She's supposed to be smaller than a beagle.... hmmmm.

My baby is a water baby, no doubt about it. Every day after work he takes daddy out to the hose and waits for him to turn it on so that he can play. Good thing we have to water the lawn anyway!
I just got this emailed to me - this is the pic that the lady took when we took her home. I guess she gets pics of her babies with their new families.
Not bad for a cell phone pic!

I was wondering about pictures of the new fur-baby ... she is a cutie :)
Yesterday we took her to see Sierra (over an hour drive). I completely forgot to take pics *doh!*
Let me tell you this, she is FAST! She got all hyped up and was playing tag with Sierra and she's like a bullet! I couldn't believe how fast she is already! I'm psyched!

Awwww, I love her little nose!
Poor little girl got her first bath today... (at least the first one we've given her). She's shaking like a leaf and crying like crazy. We used cold water because she was burning up.... but apparently she wasn't too crazy about the cold!

But then she was good as new :)

And at the vet yesterday for her 3 month vaccinations - poor girl started shaking like a leaf as soon as she got in the room. She doesn't like going to the vet, apparently.
Oh, and she's gained 5.5 lbs since we got her!

Here's some more of Miley, this weekend on our wheelin trip. She went from white to gray. She had a blast, and she did SOOOOOO good. We're so proud of her :)
She wasn't crazy about having to ride in the truck - but she isn't seasoned enough to know the truck can kill her, so this is where she rode the whole time.

And she was asleep within 90 seconds when we got into the truck on the way home. She was soooo tired, that when we got home and after her bath, she jumped from the couch to her pillow on the floor and she collapsed - her feet didnt' catch her - her jaw did! Poor baby

Aww that's so cute! She must have had a great time!
She did! She wanted to run the whole way, but I was afraid she'd get under the rig, so I kept her on a tight leash.
The cool thing is, we let her off the leash when we got there, and she played wiht other dogs. However, when the other dogs ran across the lawn, she wouldn't go more than like 40 ft from me. She would sit there and wait for them to come back, even though the other dog owner was calling her, she'd sit there and wait for them to come back so she could play with them again. She's amazing me! I cuddled with her last night while I was doing my homework and she just snuggled - it was too cute. :)

She's so cute. When I get home and let her in, I'll sit on the couch to put my laptop on my lap, but sometimes when I sit she'll jump into my lap and curl up and purposely take up my whole lap so that the computer doesn't fit. She hates that computer LOL!

Hehe Katie I must have looked at this post from work because I didn't see the pic before  that's funny.
So, Miley is on my sh** list. I was trying to drink some water and she jumped on my throat (I was on the couch) and scratched me pretty good, and I couldn't get her off. I ended up dumping water all over me and snapping at Matt when he was wondering why I was freaking out. He understood after a few choice words were thrown at him and he saw the huge welt on my neck.
Yeah yeah I'm a wuss - but that happened 15 mins ago and my throat is still burnin. :realmad:

Haha that's so appropriate Jeanne! LOL! Matt calls her Monster lol. I felt sooo bad afterwards last night. I yelled at her and pushed her off the couch when she scratched me. The whole rest of the night she was like laying way away from me and wouldn't come to me. Awww poor thing. I still feel bad! At least she was all happy to see me this morning - it could have been that she had to pee when I let her out of her crate, but I'll think of it that she's not mad at me anymore LOL.

Sorry you got scratched Justina. My dogs are not puppies anymore, but I still have to be aware of their moods and have gotten scratches and bruises from them.
They don't mean to hurt, they just want to play and they don't understand how to play; we have to teach them. Didn't you say that Matt plays rough with her? If so, it will be hard for her to realize that she can't do the same with you.
Bad as for her being mad at you; dogs don't hold grudges, so she has already forgotten ;)

You're right - Matt does play rough with her. So far she's been okay with keeping that roughness only to him. But some of her favorite chew toys are water bottles - and I was drinking out of one when she got me, so that's two things that aren't her fault.

How did you get the cat to like the dog?!? :)
The cat is smarter than the dog I think. So the cat lets Miley chew on her for awhile, acts all sweet and cuddly with her, gets underneath her, then attacks from where Miley's most vulnerable. They do it all the time... They go from being worst enemies for like an hour to being best buds snuggling together for a nap. The cat taunts Miley sooooo bad when Miley's in her crate at night, I think the cat gets satisfaction in that as well LOL!

So Miley started sneezing a lot last week... sometimes a little blood would come out. So I am assuming it's a fox tail. I took her to the vet today (after hoping it would work itself out.. and of course it hasn't).
So it cost us $35 to have the vet tell us to bring her in tomorrow for an all day visit.... drop her off at 8am and pick up between 4 & 5pm. The procedure to get the foxtail out IF and ONLY IF it's simple, is going to run us $500... if it gets complicated it can go up to $800. I DO NOT have that kind of money!!
Mom is going to help me out, but I'm going to have to pay her back... somehow. I've asked Matt for help but so far I haven't heard back from him - and I don't think he'd help me anyway because he's got "other priorities" right now :( Poor Miley. She's going to be put to sleep and they're going to use a scope to go into her nasal canal and try to find the foxtail. HOPING that they can find it quickly...
Meanwhile... she's not suffering unless she gets excited, cuz then she starts sneezing. So as long as we keep her calm and relaxed she does alright.
Urgh. Just what we need.

Oh no! I hope it's something simple and she won't have any pain!

The vet said that she will not feel it - he's going to anesthetize her so she'll be asleep... she'll be groggy for awhile that's all :)

OK I had no idea what sort of foxtails you were talking about until I looked it up ... hope it all works out for you and Miley!
Is there anything you can do to keep these off her?
At least it wasn't a leg break! When my Roxy broke her leg it cost us $3,000!
I have to clean out my back yard and pretty much kill it... turn it to dirt rather than weeds. I'm okay with this it's just going to take a LOT of work, and time. I have TONS of foxtails out there so I need to get it in order so that this doesn't happen again.
Here's the ones that we have back there... and the one I think is in her nasal canal is the first one: They have hairy barbs you can't really see that make the pointy end go in but the barbs don't let them come out :(

And the other ones that are in our yard....

Oh no Justina! I am so sorry. :( Poor Miley. I really hope you can get her through this and afford to do so. I'm sure the procedure will go fine.
I freak whenever Gizmo gets sick or something. Pets are expensive. I've considered getting him Pet Insurance because pugs have a lot of health concerns.

I know around here they have a program that helps with large vet bills. I don't know if California has something like that but it might be worth looking into.

Awww, poor thing! I hope all goes well for her today!!!
Liz, they do have pet insurance options, but seriously it's as expensive as MY insurance - over $100 a month  As for assistance, they gave me their "clinic pricing" which is I guess better than their normal pricing, but I also found out she's due for her shots so we're getting those too because they won't work with her until she's UTD on her shots. Go figure.
Anyway - she's at the vet now. :crossfingers:

Poor Miley! I hope you can get the yard under control so that she won't have to worry about those darn foxtails in the future.
Thanks ladies!!
I have her in her crate today - I hate that 'cuz now she's cooped up in the house until I can get the yard cleaned up.
The vet got the foxtail out - said it was in her central cavity and it was a simple extraction. It was surgical though so she's still 'recovering'.
God is GOOD!!! The high quote he gave me was over $700... but it ended up being only $378 because he found it in the first 1/2 hour rather than me having to pay $70 per half hour he was looking around in there.

Woo hoo! Glad the price was better. And glad Miley is recovering. I never knew such stuff happened. Wow. Scary. Hopefully she's fully recovered soon! :luxlove:

I had to google it to see what it was. Fox tail is only found on the western side of the Mississippi. Glad to hear she's recovering and it wasn't quite as expensive as you were quoted! Yay!

Glad to hear it went well, and didn't cost a lot!! How was she last night when you brought her home??
She was pissed she couldn't go out back LOL. I put her straight into the crate and I went to bed :)
Well I haven't posted a current Miley pic in ages, so here she is... I just front lined her and she's way past due for a bath. Mom's agreed to take care of that for me when she comes back out here :)
