So I got some chick peas not too long ago; it was right after I got my food processor, I had intended to make some hummus.

But hummus is usually just a dip, so I haven't gotten around to that.

Anyway, so does anyone have any recipes or ideas for using chick peas or hummus in a dinner recipe? I am looking for something with a meat; like chicken or beef :)

i don't have a chicken or beef recipe but i once made this for FH:
Spiced Lamb Chops with Chickpeas... was pretty good... didn't knock my socks off but still was tasty... u may be able to finagle it to fit beef or chicken...

I don't think that you guys eat very much soup, but chickpeas are almost always a good addition to soups. Here are a few recipes that I have bookmarked that I just planned on subbing the meat in, but of course you would just be making them as is! -

I haven't seen many beef recipes that have chickpeas in them. Maybe it's because the beef has such a strong flavor and chickpeas are so mild? Who knows.

You should still try the hummus sometime! It can make a good light meal with pita and salad!

Yeah I like soup in the winter mostly, but DH doesn't like it at all :p He will eat chicken noodle when he is sick, but that is about it.

Thanks though :)

So I saw a recipe for black bean hummus dip on TV the other day and decided to try it. I didn't really go by the recipe (didn't bother to look it up again), I just threw it together from what little I remembered seeing on the show ;)

I put everything in the food processor, so it was really easy. Here is what I did ...

- 1 can (regular size, 15 oz I think) garbanzo beans

- I 1/2 can black beans

- 1-2 teaspoons minced garlic

- 1 teaspoon minced onion

- 2 teaspoons paprika

- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (more if you want it spicier)

- Dash of cinnamon (I remember the recipe on TV had more of this, but I wasn't sure I wanted all that)

- 1-2 teaspoons peanut oil

- Juice of 1 1/2 a lime

- Salt and pepper to taste

That is it; serve with tortilla or pita chips :)
