Following are some of the Top Wedding Ring Buying Tips that you need to consider prior to shopping for your dream wedding ring/band:

1) Set a Budget: Before you and your fiancé set foot in a jewelry store, you should have a predefined budget in mind for your wedding rings. Having a pre-set budget will make it much easier for you once the shopping begins and it will also narrow down the choices for you.

2) Know Your Metals: Wedding rings are crafted in various metals. The most common metals for wedding rings are gold, white gold and platinum. Gold is a traditional standard, but platinum can be a good substitute if you’re looking out for something precious and unique.

3) Shop Around: When you first go shopping for your wedding ring, check out a couple different stores before you buy. Compare selection and price at a few different stores and determine which store has the right ring for you.

4) Give Yourself Time: After you get engaged it’s easy to get wrapped up in planning your wedding reception and ceremony. Between planning all of the details for your wedding, buying wedding rings can fall by the wayside. Do yourself a favor and don’t leave shopping for wedding rings until the last minute.

5) Style it Right: Wedding rings come in an assortment of styles. You’ll find rings that are thin, thick, plain, studded with diamonds, rounded, squared and in a wide array of metals. Pick a ring that suits your personal style and make sure its something that you’ll feel comfortable wearing every day.

Thanks for this...we are actually beginning the search for rings now and I had no idea where to start. I think I found something I love, but I decided to wait a bit b/c it's such a huge decision, I dont wanna rush it. Now I'm just afraid that by the time I make that decision the ring I decide on may no longer be available...

We discovered the Comfort Fit style for Fiance's wedding ring, and oh, it's made a HUGE difference for him. He's willing to wear his band all the time, now, because the comfort fit style doesn't hurt his finger.

My band is too thin for comfort fitting :)

I whole-heartedly agree with the 'shopping around' concept. I found a ring that I liked at a mall store that was $600 -- WAY out of our budget. I got essentially the same ring (same stones, quality, metal and approximate carat weight -- the only thing different was the settings) online for $159. And we found a gorgeous silver titanium ring with etched Celtic knotwork for Fiance for $40 on Amazon! The ring was originally $100, but the vendor was having a sale, and we had coupons, so . . . $40.

And I found some small but exceptionally high-quality emerald and diamond earrings on ebay, for $15, to match my equally tiny but good quality diamond and emerald heart pendant that Fiance bought me for Christmas a couple years back. I'm going to wear them for the rehearsal! The earrings are easily worth $100.

Jewelry deals are everywhere . . . if you shop around and don't buy the first set you see!

I would also suggest that you do your homework on the cut, clarity & color & which one is the most important to you. I perfer the color to be very good with little flaws that you can see with the naked eye. I got my best deals for my anniversary ring in Mexico when I was on a cruise. I also help my son order a engagement ring for his wife now from the same people in Mexico. We took care of everything on the phone. I told him what color & cut we wanted. He mailed me a ring & if my son didn't like it we could mail it back. That's how much I trusted them. The name of the company was Diamond International. They are in every port all over the world. They also have a main place in New York. They are an excellent company. We actually delt with the owner since you get better pricing. Also the manager you get better pricing since they are not on comission.
