Hi Ladies!

I'm just trying to get an idea of what wedding photography costs. What are you all spending or what did you spend? Can you also please include where you live and what the price included? Thanks. :)

My Fh's brother spent 800 dollars for engagement bridal and wedding day pictures they got all the rights to the pictures. I'm not sure if they got prints or anything else.

My friend paid 600 dollars for all copyright and print outs of each picture. She also made them a dvd. They got engagement bridals and wedding day.

We live in Utah.

We live in New Hampshire, and we're spending $3500 on our photographer. This is what we get:

30 page album (which is beautiful)
all the pictures & rights to them on a disc
professional 11 x 14 print
engagement session
6 hours of coverage
2 photographers
2 parent albums
web viewing

The people we're going with do an amazing job, and I love all their pictures. So for what we get and how great a job they do, I can justify how much we spend on it.

I live in Wiscosnin, and I spent $2750 for photography. It includes all the copyrights, and two photographers until 9:30 pm at night. Its nice because its a husband/wife team, so she will be with me getting ready at the hotel and he with be with FH getting ready.

We spent an extra $250 for engagement pictures and $200 for the copyrights to those. All together our costs came to $3200.

We have a special situation. My cousin, who is on a photography scholarship at St. John's University, is doing our photography. He and a girl he works with are doing it all for $450 (split between them). I checked $500 - $1000 because we'll certainly spend a bit of money getting pictures printed, bound into books, etc.

I'm in Saint Paul and for $600 we're getting:

6 hours of coverage (split up between the pre-ceremony, ceremony, and reception)
a CD of all the pictures and the rights to make copies for others (not to sell!)
15 of the best touched up and made extra special
and . . . something else, which I forgot.

We don't get an album.

Doesn't seem like much, but our guy has an awesome eye for both color and telling a story, his wedding profile is awesome, and we wanted that. We can print our own copies and make our own wedding album, or have them framed, whatever, and we can also email the high-res jpgs to those family members that want them. And we can print the jpgs and snail mail them too, he gives us a lot of options.

And I can enhance pictures myself, if necessary. We wanted somebody who can take a great shot to give us a ton of coverage and make sure that no moments are forgotten -- all the other stuff isn't as important.

We are paying $1800 for all day coverage. It comes with 250 prints, a lay flat album, engagement photos (with a small package), bridal photos (with a small package) and a DVD of all photos printed. I'm sure there's something I'm forgetting...but the best part is the all day coverage :)

We're just outside of Chicago and we're paying a little over $2500. This will be for all day coverage with unlimited locations, a fifteen page album, two parent albums, the copyright release to our images, a free engagement (or bridal) shoot and one 8x10 of that picture.

I'm editing because I posted then went back and realised I couldn't really give you what you're looking for. Sorry, for not reading more carefully. OK, I tried to make my OP a size smaller but it posts the same size. I'm leaving it I hope you don't mind.

Ours were free. A friend of the family done our pictures as our gift. She had done other weddings and I seen her work, it was great. But ours didn't turn out nearly as nice as her other work. I'm forever grateful to her for all her hard work. But if I could do it all over again I would forgo all the little extras to make sure I hire a professional photographer. While getting married is the goal and is the most important part, along with your guests happiness and comfort. Your pictures should be #2. Because your wedding day will fly by and those pictures will be very important in helping you to remember the little things.

This is just my opinion of course.

After tax, ours was about $2700. I live in Alabama. I honestly don't remember everything in our package because we haven't gotten it yet, but we had 2 photographers all day, more than 100 originals, a larger personalized album for us (with the option to expand it if we want) and 2 small albums for our parents (they get to pick out what they want for each album, not a pre-set selection), plus several different size prints, a discount on any extras for the family/friends, and an engagement session (although we didn't use it). I'm sure there is other stuff but I don't remember what it is.

the avergae aorund here was 1500-3500 for GREAT photog. I called the company and got somene to come out and meet with them, and convinced her to take the day off and shoot my wedding on the side since i found out she had all her own cameras. (and likely she would not have a wedding that day since it was a sunday and if she did, she would make 20$ an hour through her company rather then the whole amount from us) she got her other friend from work to do the same thing and for two photogs, all days (10am-midnight), boudiour photos, as many locations as needed, 1500 pictures on a disk, as many as we wanted, edited, the rights to all our pics and a website with all our photos it cost 700 and we tipped her 50.

so 750 total and we bought two vendor meals

In Long Island NY my price was 4500. This includes 3 enlargements, two photographers (one formal and one candid). The albums are separate. This was a little high but I wanted to spend most of my money on the photography. Those are the memories that you will have forever.

I think it is important to have 2 photographers so you can catch the moments that are not always seen and can be very precious.

We lucked out. My step-brother is a great photographer, and he's trying to build up references and a portfolio. The only thing he said he'll charge for is the cost to put the pictures on DVD if we want them, the cost of the ink to print the pictures, and the cost of the albums we want.

He said he doesn't want to get paid for the time he's taking for the pictures, but unless he tells us it's a wedding present, we're going to at least give him a good tip!

I live in Upstate NY. Our photographer was supposed to be free - FHs cousin but due to a family illnes, he can't come. So 3 weeks before the wedding we posted an ad on Craigslist. We got responses from everything from Pro's which was usually between $1200-1800 to show up all the way down to free from a recent photography graduate.

We ultimately went with a professional that lives in NJ who takes beautiful pics but is just getting into weddings. We're getting him for the entire day and all of the photos, retouched on disc. We'll worry about what to print later but we would have been paying for that with FH's cousin as well.
