Ok...yall, I know Ive gained a few pounds since Brian and I got together, but last night I stepped on the scales at my moms and :bbeek: there is NO WAY I weigh that much!!!!!
So now Im stuck between getting depressed over this or getting completely carried away with dieting. Brian isnt any help, because he refuses to have a a conversation with me concerning weight.
Diets have been so hard for me to stick to lately, but I have to do something. This is really starting to bother me.
Any advice??????? Anybody want to be my diet buddy?????

I hear ya Cindy. I have gained prob about 15 lbs since J and I moved in together 11 months ago. He doesn't want to hear about it, because he says I was on the verge of beng too thin, but after looking at his ex-wife, I can see where he would get that idea!!!!!:bbmrgreen:
Here are my ideas. They work for me. If you drink soda, STOP!! It is hard at first, but the payoff is great. If you don't like excercising, do a few things at night when you watch t.v. ie, crunches, squats, lunges, leg lifts. And do some light snacking thru the day rather than three big meals. I did those things, and lost 20 lbs in a MONTH!!!!!

Ok, I would just have to be one depressed, because there ain't no way in hell that I would get carried away on a diet. It's funny to even think about. LOL!!
Seriously though, Cindy, if you are going to go on a diet, do it now, because the older you get, the harder it gets. Good luck!!:p

Cindy i'll be your buddy. I've been feeling really crummy about the weigh i look too. I won't even step on a scale because i'm scared of what it might say. I go by the size of my clothes more then anything.
Mark and i had a good talk about it all last week. I decided that at the beginning of July i was going to stop drinking pop and cut out sugars. Unfortunetly i seemed to have forgotten about it already because i am sitting here with a can of coke right now. I am also planning on eating more veggies and not letting mark get junk food everytime he goes to the supermarket. The last thing i am gong to try to do is eat more protein. I am terrible for not eating enough. I have to get myself back in the habbit of making turkey wrap sandwhiches with no mayo or cheese.

I am....we had talked about a a thread a while back, but i dont think it really took off.
It helps having someone to talk to, because most of the people I know either dont need to diet or dont care how they look.
What really messes me up is having to fix dinner for a house full of skinny people. By the time I through, I know I dont need to eat a lot of the pasta and stuff they have, but I dont feel like fixing me something different!

I would be interested in going at the weight loss with everyone. I have gained about 10 lbs since we started dating. And know it will be worse with me being home now. And like cindy said I am having a much harder time of it now that I am preparing meals for a large family. I was used to eating on the run and working two jobs. Only ate one really good meal a day. Hardly snacked at all. But do however (and always have) lived on soda's. This is my huge downfall. It is hard for me to cook meals and then not eat them. My daughter and I were used to just kinda fending for ourselves with me only cooking about two meals a week. We kindly refered to those nights as "findy windies" or "root hog or die" nights. I was thinner then and actually felt much better. So I would be interested in doing this.

Well, I would be happy to set something up. What we could do if you all think this will work, is everyone who is interested in this can PM there weight/goal weight/inches (chest/waist/hips/left thigh)/current pant size and what their biggest temptation is!!!! Then I will do a spreadsheet and add teh link here, where I will update it weekly, lets say Sundays!!! Let me know what you all think...and anyone interested let me know!!!!

Okay...I think we should let this thread "breathe" a bit, so that anyone who is interested can get a chance to read it and post. PM if you are interested with your current weight/goal weight/inches (chest/waist/hips/left thigh)/current pant size and what your biggest temptation is. I will start to get a spreadsheet ready and after we know that everyone has had a chance to consider joining, I'll say by Sunday or Monday, we can get started!!!!

I need to loose some weight too, but I don't want to share my weight and measurements  I find that I do better if I just focus on how I look and feel and not how much I weigh.
I've been trying to be more consistent at eating better and exercising more. The last week I worked out 3 times ... we've been walking the dogs every day after dinner and that is about a 20-30 min walk. So I hope that will help.
I have given up on trying to get back to where I was when I was 18, now I just want to be in better shape and healthy. I probably need to loose at least 30 pounds and/or 2 sizes. I'd like to do it by my birthday in November.
My sister had her stomach stapled a few years ago and she lost a good bit of weight, but then she got pregnant and gained some back. The last month or so she has been obsessed with dieting, so she has almost gotten to where I am now (she has been bigger than me for a long time) so I am going to be mad (mostly at my self) if she gets smaller than me. But then she is obsessed and she has 'help' with the surgery.
I don't want to be obsessed with dieting and I don't want to have to be 'on a diet' for the rest of my life either. Sadly, I enjoy food and sweets too. So I think I just need to make it a habit of working out more and eating less of what I like ;)
Cooking and eating at home more and cutting back on the salt (because of my 'slightly elevated' blood pressure) is helping a bit.
Well, we all have goals ... Good luck to us all :D

I think this is a great idea Angel. I'm a little shy about sharing my weight and everything with everyone. Maybe the updates could be if we've lost or gained. That way we can all support eachother without sharing to many intimate details.

How bout we do it this way...we will do a chart with:
Name-Current Weight-Goal Weight-Pant Size-Greatest Temptation-Biggest Motivator.
Those who want to share their weight can, those who would prefer keep it private, that's cool too. I have just found that sometimes it can help others to know that the people that they are working with are in similiar situations...meaning person A is not 230lbs trying to get to 145 and person B is not 160lbs trying to get to 145lbs...because then teh girl that is 230lbs is trying to compete and it won't work. I guess what I am trying to say is that people tend to like to know what other people are struggling with. I think that this is a great opportunity for everyone who is interested to gain support and motivation...so share what you are confortable with.
Also, measurements are sometimes a better identifier of weight loss than lbs...because sometimes we lose inches first..which is why I thought we should include them. When I was a weight loss counselor, I would always ask my clients..."If you could wear a size 4, would you really care if you weighed 300 lbs?". I mean, I know that that is not possible, but it is just food for thought. inches can mean just as much, if not more, than pounds!!!
CindySue
07-05-2006, 08:10 PM
Youre right Angel, about the inches being more important than pounds. Muscle weights more than fat and if youre toning up and building muscle, you will be going down in size but possibly staying the same of the scale. You really should pay more attention to your measurements than your weight!

... You really should pay more attention to your measurements than your weight!
I agree, but I'm still not telling anyone how much I weigh :bblol: If I was the size I want to be or a size I am comfortable with then I might ;)
I think it is mostly the stigma that a woman should be under 130 lbs. Well not all women are made that way :realmad: But as much as I believe that, I still don't want to have to tell ppl that number.
So I am just gonna say that I want to loose 30+ pounds or 2 pants sizes and leave it at that ;) (I would love to loose like 50 lbs but that may be pushing it a bit)

I dont know that I really want everyone knowing my size, but maybe if I do get it out there, Id have more of an incentive to change it.
Im with you on the 30+ thing. 40 would be perfect, 50 would be a bit too much.....and would more than likely be my boobs!:bbeek:

LOL! I remember trying to start one of these threads a few times........
I'm still doing all the things I was doing a few months ago. I still want to lose more weight before the wedding but I am back in my old jeans now and working on the next size down. :D I think the trick for me was portion control and eating more regular meals. I used to skip meals thinking I would lose weight. Once I started recording what I was eating I was surprised to see I was only consuming 700 to 800 calories a day! So once I started eating the calories I should in a day my metabolism started to speed up. :bbmrgreen: That and I stopped eating junk food in the evenings.

Yeah I have had to buy some bigger clothes over the last year and wasn't too happy about it.
I stay up late and have a habit of snaking on sweets late at night and not doing anything to burn off the calories.
I know I just need to be more active and that will help a lot! So I guess I need to start by getting of the computer ;)

I won't buy the next size up. I would rather just not buy it then do that.
I am super guilty for snacking arround 1030-11pm when Mark comes home cause he is hungry then or he calls because he is stopping at Micky D's or Wendy's then i have to have icecream and french fries. As soon as i smell it or really start thinking about how yummy it all is i have to have it. Then my other guilty habbit is waking up in the middle of the night (like now) getting a drink of OJ and then having a cereal bar or a bowl of cereal because my body is now telling me it's hungry and there is no way i can fall back asleep on an empty stomic.
I am a carbaholic! I need to go to meetings!
All day i can eat super good veggies, protien, dairy.... as soon as i get bored or Mark comes home i snack away. ARGH!

Jenn, that is why it can be super helpful to keep a food diary!!! this way you have to write down everything you put into your mouth. If you write it down first and consider it a bit longer...you might change your mind. When you are feeling hungry...especially late at night or in the middle of the night...drink a tall glass of water, wait 5 minutes or so, and think about whether you are hungry again. Also, if you must eat...eat..because if you don't you will feel like you are starving yourself and just give up...but eat something healthy...like an apple or a fat free yogurt..it might not taste as good, but you will feel better about yourself in the morning!!!

I have been trying to lose some weight for a few months now. I lost 5 lbs last month, but NO inches!! That is really what I want to lose around my waist and thighs. My problem is Steve HATES healthy food. He is in great health and never gains any weight. So he doesn't exactly buy a lot of junk food, but he buys stuff that isn't the greatest for me. Then when it comes to meals, I don't make as much healthy stuff cause I don't want to make two different meals for us. He won't eat veggies, is picky on fruits, eats his salads with lettus and bacon bits. So everything I buy to put on my salad goes bad before I can use it all. Then I can't get myself to buy more cause I know it will go to waste. I was doing sit-ups and using my stepper every day. But the last 2 weeks I haven't used the stepper at all and only done sit-ups maybe 3 times. I'm just not motivated and tired of being the only person around me that has to try to lose weight!! Arg. This is a great idea though. I could use having other people to work with and keep me going towards my goals. Thanks ladies!

Below is a Weight and Weight Table for Women. It is similiar to the one that we used at the weight loss center. This should assist some of you ladies in seeing where abouts you should be for you height. Because measurements are based more on an individuals body frame, I really can't assist in that area, but you can loosly determine your body frame by measuring your elbow.
The directions for doing so are below:
Height & Weight Table For Women1
Height.......Small Frame..........Medium Frame........Large Frame
4' 10".........102-111.................109-120..............118-131
4' 11".........103-113.................111-123..............120-134
5' 0"...........104-115.................113-126..............122-137
5' 1"...........106-118.................115-129..............125-140
5' 2"...........108-121.................118-132..............128-143
5' 3"...........111-124.................121-135..............131-147
5' 4"...........114-127.................124-138..............134-151
5' 5"...........117-130.................127-141..............137-155
5' 6"...........120-133.................130-144..............140-159

5' 10".........132-145..................142-156.............152-173
5' 11".........135-148..................145-159.............155-176
6' 0"...........138-151..................148-162.............158-179
Weights at ages 25-59 based on lowest mortality. Weight in pounds according to frame (in indoor clothing weighing 3 lbs.; shoes with 1" heels)
Elbow Measurements:
"Bend forearm upward at a 90 degree angle. Keep fingers straight and turn the inside of your wrist toward your body. Place thumb and index finger of other hand on the two prominent bones on either side of the elbow. Measure space between your fingers on a ruler.(A physician would use a caliper.) Compare with tables below listing elbow measurements for medium-framed men and women. Measurements lower than those listed indicate small frame. Higher measurements indicate large frame."

As every person is different, even within the different body types, I don't know if this is completely accurate.
My Dr said that it has to do with not only your height and body type, but also genetics. As in, some of us will be prone to carry more weight than others. Now that doesn't mean those ppl are just gonna be fat, but those ppl might have to work harder to keep from being that way. It also has alot to do with your age, as we age our body chemistry changes.
I have been told that I should try to loose 30-40 pounds, which would still have me a little over what this chart says the max should be for my body frame. I also heard that you can still be healthy and be slightly overweight.
I don't know, I am not trying to be 'bikini thin' I am ok with never being that again, I just want to be in better shape for me ... so I can be as healthy as I can for as long as I can.

I am sure that it probably isn't completely accurate, but I figured that it would assist some of the ladies who had asked me about "where they should be" in determining a range of possibilities. I agree that there is definitely more that goes into it that height and weight and I am sure that the ladies realize that I am not a Dr., nor am I advising them that they should try to reach a certain goal...I am just offering up information. Personally I agree that you can be healthy and slightly overweight!!!

I hope you didn't think I was putting you down or anything ... I was just stating my opinion on the chart ;) As for the "where should I be" question, I think this is best asked of a Dr on a per person basis. After all, you know they always say "Don't start any diet or exercise plan without first consulting with a physician" ;)
We all have goals and I guess my point is that even two people the same age, height and body type may not 'need' to weigh the same. I say go for what is best for you personally, or at least as close to it as you can get ;)

No, no offense taken Brandi...everyone has a right to their opinions. I agree that people should seek the advice of their Dr. before starting a diet plan, which is why I will only be offering support and motivation, if needed and requested, and will never tell anyone what to do, how much weight to lose, or anything like that. Again, I just want to make sure that EVERYONE understands that my idea was not for us all to be on a diet together or to stick to any one specific plan, it was just to start something where we can lean on each other for support and motivation...and talk to each other about our struggles adn challenges!!!

That's cool, but I'm still not telling you guys my measurements :p
I will tell you my struggles/challenges ... I find it hard to get motivated and stay motivated. I just always feel like I should be doing something else (working, cleaning the house, etc) ... it is sad cause I don't have kids (I do have dogs) and I work at home so I should have more time. Or I just get bored and think "Well, what is one day gonna hurt" but then that one day becomes a week, then a month, then I've gained and not lost anything :( These allergies are also affecting me as I feel like cr@p half the time and I don't want to do anything. And when I have my period it is worse, I get all PMS'y and just want to be lazy.
The other thing is that I have a bit of a sweet tooth. And I hate being on a diet, especially now since I am suppose to be on a lower sodium diet for my 'slightly elevated' blood pressure. I just feel like if I tried to cut back on calories, fat, carbs, etc, then I couldn't eat anything :bbconfused:
I am sure stress has a lot to do with my issues too, I need to work on that. I've set so many weight loss goals for myself in the past and I never reach them and I think that is another issue of mine too. LOL, I might also need to spend less time on the computer :p
Oh well, I gonna keep going and see what happens.
We all have goals, good luck to us all!

Brandi,
I understand exactly where you are coming from. It was hard for me to share my measurements, but I hoping that the world being able to see them will be the incentive I need to STAY motivated. (I also have that problem!!!!) Thats why Im doing it.....Im hoping this works for me.
Good Luck with whatever plan you work out for yourself!!!

I feel the same way...

Good luck girls!
My advice: Eat less, move more!!
Proven way to loose weight. Don't starve yourself, eat everything you like...but in moderation.
And if there's a medical thing keeping you inside or less mobile (like allergies) talk to your doctor about getting something for that. My FMIL gets allergy shots, and I take an allergy pill every night before I go to sleep...the allergy pill means that I don't get as many headaches, etc. :)

I drank alot of crystal light today, but not much water!!!! Joel and I are about to work out right now.....so I'll let ya knwo how that goes!!!!!

Alrighty..... I am going to do my best to get into this and keep on top of this post and the whole attempt to loose some weight. Or really just feel better about myself. I'd like to loose 2 pants sizes Maybe 3.
Yesterday i wasn't that great. I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast, plain tea biscuit for lunch, and chicken with a mushroom soup sauce, white rice, and mixed corn and peas for dinner. I had an apple arround 1030-11pm. I've gotten into to drinking the Crystal lite singles. Love the Strawberry Banana. Today i am going to pick up some more at Walmart (cause there only $1.50 there rather the $2.50 at other places)
I think i am going to start my day with an apple and a special K bar. Well see what happends from there.
Good Luck to everyone on having a good day today! :D

I have been doing really bad for months. Yesterday something snapped and I did really good. Ate healthy all day and after work took my dogs for a run/walk, even lifted some weights at home. I went out for dinner with a friend and had a salad and then we went for a long walk after dinner.
I know tonight is going to be a problem though. I brought breakfast and lunch, so I know I'll be fine there. But tonight I have bowling, so after work I go to my in-laws for dinner and I already know that dinner is pizza. While bowling is some activity, it's not much, and then as a team we always go out to the bar afterwards. This is the main problem. I always have two or three drinks and those calories add up really quick. And I am not a beer drinker. I usually go for the mixed drinks. Weekends are usually bad too. Usually go out at least one night a week, and the other night we watch a movie in our home bar. So two more nights of having a few drinks.
With really trying to lose weight, I don't want to do that anymore. But sitting around drinking pop the whole night won't work very well either.
Any suggestions? Know of any low cal drinks? I know I can keep it to one drink each of those nights, I've done that before. But usually the one drink is a fruity mix that probably has a ton of calories.

Rum and diet anything is low cal. Other than that Im not sure.........
Ok....Im off to a pretty good start this morning. I had a pretty healthy breakfast, and even put splenda in my coffee. I know what Im going to have for lunch and it is also going to be healthy. Dinner will be my only problem, but I think I know how to work that one out. I plan to walk this afternoon. If I cant get my husband to go with me, then he can stay at the house and my son is going to go.............Its just like racecargirl said....something just snapped.....Hopefully I can keep all of this up!

Ok well.... hopefully i won't have to many problems cutting out the extra not so good for me **** because today my doctor told me i have to. No more caffine, greasy foods, and reduce the carbs. I saw my Dr. today about my stomic pains and she asked about gallstones. Which i haven't had in the past, she's wondering if it could be a problem with an overy as well. So... lots of blood tests and ultrasounds. But cutting out the caffine and junk foods should help with the pain if its a gallblatter problem.
This morning was awsome! I had an apple and a Special K bar for breakfast and a large tea with 1 milk and i was fine until just after i had my blood taken arround 1215pm. Then i was starving. So i'm eating a chocolate chip muffin as i catch up on posts. Not the best but.... it's what i got with my tea this morning on the road. Dinner.... no clue today. I'm having dinner at my mom's house. It won't be really un-healthy though.
OH! And the Dr. says i'm not allowed to eat later at night either. (Not sure why) but.... it will help me when i'm feeling snacky.

best friend - July 1
sister's boyfriend (yes we have a party for him) - July 9
Cousin - July 10
Sister - July 12
mom's "son" (sister's best friend that mom "adopted") - July 15
me - July 17
Eric (FSIL boyfriend)- July 20

I have been doing pretty good I think. Bought some rice cakes and such that I can stick in my desk. At work is where I have my hardest time. Just sitting here so I feel like I should eat.
I have been eating on salad plates instead of dinner plates to help with the portions. (been doing that for a while and it really helps)
I have switched to diet drinks when I feel like I need a soda.
I am just hoping I can lose at least 5 more pounds before the wedding. It's not my goal, but I don't want to make my whole goal before the wedding, considering it's only a little over a month away.

Holly, Im with you on the having problems at work thing. This is where I get the munchies the worst. I did pretty good yesterday. I had steak and salad for dinner, but I ended up having 2 glasses of wine.........
Except for the wine, I am VERY proud of myself.....and you know what? After the first couple of days, things get a lot easier!!!!

Breakfast was a tea biscut and decafe tea. I had the most discusting half on egg salad sandwhich and a Canadian for lunch yesterday. I avoided the temptation of the chips and stuff. Although i did have a small brownie. (I went to Baby shower for my boss Jon and his wife) Dinner was Steamed veggies, and chineese noodles. And i had a bowl of cereal later before bed cause i was starving.
I figured out i really can't have much grease food now. Upsets my stomic so much. It's good cause i'm learning the triggers so now i can avoid them. But its tough watching other people eat the junk you want but can't have.
I'm pretty good about not getting the munchies at work. But in the evening when i am home watching tv and i'm bored. Totally eat out of boardum. Not cool!

Okay ladies...I did horrible yesterday:bbcry: :bbcry: !!! Breakfast was fine...I had a protein bar and midmorning I had an apple with some reduced fat PB. Lunch came around and I was hungry, but nothing sounded good...so I had a Marie Callenders frozen entree...horrible!! Then for dinner I went out with a friend and had mexican and margaritas....I have to try and do better today. The upside of yesterday is that I got all my water in:bblol: !!!

Hello all! So glad everyone seems to be doing pretty well lately! Lets see, yesterday I wasn't feeling to great. I had cheerios for breakfast. A bagel with strawberry jam for lunch, and picked at Steve's clams for dinner. We went with the fire department to a parade, so we did a lot of walking. I hope to go swimming this weekend. FMIL took water arobics and is going to show me a few exercise to do.

Well except for a couple of glasses of beer last night, I did pretty good. Especially given the fact that I had to drive 10 miles with pizzas in my jeep, and I still didnt cheat.:bbconfused: Family got a treat, I ate salad. :bbcry:
I havent ate yet today....Im thinking of making an omlet, but I havent decided yet. Kids are just now waking up and no one told me we were out of milk, so they dont have any for cereal...........
Hey Angel.......when do we send our new measurements (if mine ARE new:bbconfused: ) and such?
Oh and Jenn......my favorite water aerobic is to have an empty milk jug (with lid on) in each hand and and try to swim while holding them. Because of the water, you dont realize the resistance you are really getting until you get out. There are things you can buy for this instead of using milk jugs, but milk jugs are free!!!!

I've done OK food wise, but not very good when it came to exercising. I need to work out more. I am determined to do better all around this week. I have to take my dress to hemed soon and I don't want to put it on and still not be able to fit!
So far today I've had a banana sliced up on a waffle for breakfast.
Question....Does anyone have a list of the good foods besides like salads, fruits and veggies? I am stumped on what I should be making/eating for dinner. Not sure what is considered on the healthy side and what isn't. Tonight I was planning on making baked chicken (Fh wants his to have sause and cheese/parmisian) and rice. Is that good?

Well chicken is always a good choice. And Ive been told you can eat just about anything as long as you limit your portions. Me, I just try to cut out fried stuff and anything with a lot of fat in it. Oh yeah....and I cut out sweets...:(

Sweets are major...becuase of the sugar!! I limit my carbs...even though the past few months I have been slippin on that and eat alot of chicken, ground turkey, fish, shrimp, etc. I do not fry my foods and I watch my sodium intake. I use salt-free seasonings and seasoning belnds...liek Mrs. Dash, and cooking spray instead of oil. It is ok to have rice once in a while and even the parmesan cheese is fine, teh sauce shoudl be okay, I would just be aware of the sodium level if you are using canned!!! As Cindy said...portions sizes are key!!!

Portion sizes are key. As long as you don't start depriving yourself of things, you can be a lot more successful. I lost 65 pounds on Weight Watchers once. But of course I gained it back in time. :( Gosh, I was looking good in those days. I could cross my legs with no trouble. LOL!

Cindy... I ask myself often why I can't be one of those girls that loses weight when stressed/depressed...oh that would be great. I don't know though...with the stress in my life I would probably have disappeared by now. We all have bad days...just saddle up and get back on!!!!
I have done pretty good so far this week...and hope to remain that way. I don't knwo what dinner will be, but hopefully I can resist eating something that is really bad for me. I really , really want soem shrimp fettucine, but that islike eating a tub of butter with all the fact that is in there. I just need to stay focused and remember why I want to lose weight in the first place. I have to go for my pinning and alterations on 8/5 and I would like to be down a few more pounds atleast. Also, after the wedding i would like to start getting my body ready for getting pregnant, which I would like to start trying for about a year after the wedding.

Ok.... so i'm back. I've been good-ish. I haven't eaten alot since monday because i felt like ****. I had no real interest in eating. Plus when i was in the hospital i couldn't because if i had to have surgery i couldn't have eaten. Yesterday i had a PB&J sandwich, an apple, and chicken noodle soup.
Today... when i found out i could actually not worry so much about what i was eating i broke down and had a chicken twister at KFC. I didn't eat my fries though. They were really discusting at the time. For dinner we had pasta with red sauce. I've been pretty good about drinking lots of water because i think i got a bit too de-hydrated on Monday. It was 43'C out. Too hot.
the kinda neat thing about getting so sick there was i still have no desire to eat **** and i've totally changed my snacking habbits becase i haven't really wanted to even eat a meal. Hopefully i can stay on this whole kick and not eat as much junk because i know it will only aggrivate my stomic and cutting back on my sugars. I'm allowed 2 caffinated drinks a day and no alcohol (which won't be hard at all).

At least you are trying to eat. And if all you can eat is yogurt, then you picked a good one to eat. It's really good for you and it had acidolphilus (sp?) in it which will help you get better. Hope you feel better soon, Cindy. Is it just your nerves?

Yeah Holly, I do think for the most part its just stress. I also think with the dieting, I might not be getting enough iron, so Ive added an iron tablet to my daily vitamins. I tend to be anemic but very seldom do I have to take iron, as i usually get enough through my food. Ive was craving spinach last night and thats usually an indicator about my iron level being low.

This past week was bad for me, I didn't work out at all (I do take the dogs on a 30 min walk daily if that counts) and I had several cheat days. I'm sure the weekend won't be any better. But I am gonna try to get back in the swing of things next week.
I did weigh myself the other day (hadn't done so in about a month) and it looks like I've lost 8 lbs ... that is at least a start ;) But I'm going to the Dr (for my allergies) tomorrow, so we will see if my scale is accurate.

I did horrible this week also. I think the scale is broken at Fh's house. It says I gained 20 lbs in a week...I don't think so. Guess I need to go out and invest in a scale for here. I registered for one, but I think I may go pick one up anyway. I really need to get back into working out. I've been trying to go for short walks on my breaks from work. But I only get 3 10 minute breaks in a day ( I don't get a lunch break. We eat will dispatching) so it isn't a very long walk. But it's better then nothing. I'm also going to spend time looking online today for an inexpensive treadmill. Stuff to keep me from coming up with excuses.

Well I didnt do TOO bad over the weekend. Friday night Brian cooked fajitas on the grill. I only had one. I did have a crunchy taco from Taco Bell Saturday night, but only one. Now yesterday was a slightly different story. I met my mom in Tyler to take the kids school clothes shopping and we all went and ate Mexican food. I had 2 cheese enchiladas, but not much of the rice and beans. I also had 1 swirl margarita. I did walk around the mall for 3 hours afterwards, so that kinda even things out, right?

I did ok this weekend, considering that I went to a concert, a Pure Romance Party, and took my nephew to McDonalds. On Friday night we had Mr. Pita, so it wasn't too bad, and I also had some cinnamon roasted almonds, but that is all I bought to eat at the concert...and believe me I was tempted!!! On Sat. I had a Lean Cuisine and strawberries for lunch, but did have McDonalds for dinner. I only had a cheeseburger and half my fires though.....so it wasn't toooo bad. Sunday I had a Lean Cuisine, peppers, and yogurt for lunch and for dinner we had spagetti sguash, with shrimp, muchrooms, green pepper, tomato, and parmesean cheese, it wasn't that good, but it was a new recipe and I tried it. I also had an apple last night when I had the munchies. My biggest struggle is that AF is here and I am craving chocolate soooo bad and really trying to fight it!!! Saturday I drank a whole lot of soda and had waaaaay to much caffiene, but other than that I have really really cut back on soda and caffiene and have beeen doing pretty good with my water, This weekend is my 1st shower on Sat., and a good friends shower on Sun., so I know that I am gonna over eat....but I will try really hard to be good. ... I did weigh myself the other day (hadn't done so in about a month) and it looks like I've lost 8 lbs ... that is at least a start ;) But I'm going to the Dr (for my allergies) tomorrow, so we will see if my scale is accurate.
Well when I went to the Dr a couple of weeks ago the scale there showed I only lost 5 lbs. But I guess that is at least a start.
I've been trying to get back to working out again, but even when I don't I still walk the dogs so I get a little something everyday ;)
I've been trying to eat less, eat better and cook more rather than eat out. I would love to loose at least 30 lbs by November, that is 3 mos away so we'll see what happens.

Cindy....what do we need to do to keep you motivated? The point of thsi thread is to help each other!! I know that you are frustrated because things aren't going as quickly as you would like them to, and I am the same way, but you can do tyhis girl. It takes time for your metabolism to really get going and to start burning more calories!! You have been doing good and if you just stay focused you will keep dropping those lbs and you will start to feel more motivated!!! I gained a pound last week, but I am still motivated and I want to keep you there too!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess just listening to me vent will help. Things have been a little stressful at the house with Keilee having to go back home yesterday. I didnt want her to go, my kids didnt want her to go and I know her daddy didnt want her to go. Im trying to get everything ready for my kids to start school on the 14th. They have once agian gone on strike against doing their chores. I threw a fit at lunch and disconnected the cable box AND DVD player locked them in our room. I told them if their work was done when I get home they might get to watch tv this afternoon. I know they need to spend more time outside, but its been so d a m n hot here. They missed out on doing stuff this past weekend because of this.

Well i went to the weekly meeting last nite and id lost 3 pound, the weeks been quite easy but i think its also because im home doing nothing much @ mo and am able to spend time fussing about with food. Also went swimming 2 evenings thru the week, and have been trying to walk if im going anywhere local rather than taking the car.
Hope ur all doing ok there (and that Cindys kids did their chores for her lol) xxx

Well they tried I guess. Everything just got so lax while Keilee was here, bedtime, chores, etc. and now Im trying to put things back in order and get our routine for school started because they start on the 14th. I guess some of it falls back on me, because what theyve been doing for a month, I wanted to reverse in a day, and apparently that didnt work.

Ok.... so i haven't posted much since we moved and with work being all crazy. I haven't actually checked the scale or the inches but i think i've actually lost some weight. I've noticed that my pants have felt bigger this past week. WOOOH WHOOO!
I've been super good about not snacking a whole lot. Mostly just 4 small meals a day. I haven't been having as much pop or chips either. I'm pretty happy with it. And now that we live in a nicer area i am going to start walking more.

I don't think I've been doing very good. I have been trying to weigh myself as much as possible, hoping that will keep me motivated. Have way through the week I dropped a couple pounds, then I started going back up again. The fire co carnival was this week, and since I worked there every night, I didn't eat the best foods. Last night we went to walmart and I looked a exercise bikes and treadmils. I just can't afford to spend $100+ on one. We have been swimming a couple times a week since we had really nice temps, but it's getting cooler again. When I weighed and measured myself, it looks like I went down, but it doesn't feel like it. I got a couple cook books at my showers, so I hope now that I have more time I can start learning to cook, and cook healthy. We'll see what happens.
Angel, is this week the measurements week or just the weight?

Thank goodness I wasnt the only one!!! I totally blew it this weekend. Now granted i did spend some major quality time with my husband and did get some exercise ;) , We ate out 4 times this past weekend.
Friday night Brian told me about a new mexican food resaurant in town that gives you a free margarita with dinner. We didnt believe it so we went to find out. Well turns out they do (they cant sell it but they can use that to get customers in as long as they give them away. Pretty **** good too!) Well we stuffed ourselves on enchiladas and guacamole.....
Saturday we did the antique store thing in the next town over. We walk around looking at stuff and ate at this really good little burger joint. (I did order the small one!!) We got back home that evening and started talking about those margaritas we had the night before and ended up going back to the mexican food restaurant fot dinner that night.
Then last night we were in town just goofing off and decided to have pizza.............:bbeek:

I totally blew this weekend as well. I had my shower/bach party Saturday and between all the drinks and food, I was afraid to step on the scale this morning. Didn't gain, but no loss either. I really need to step it up!!

Yeah me too. I have been pretty good up until this weekend, but I wouldnt care if I gained 10 lbs from it. I had a wonderful weekend with my husband (that we needed very very badly!!!!) and wouldnt trade it for the world.....plus....I didnt have to cook!!!!!

Ahh Man yesterday was bad. lol.
We went up to Mark's dad's new chip truck. I had chicken on a bun and some fries. Super yummy. But definatly not the healthiest. We didn't have dinner cause we ate lunch so late. But we had ice cream while we watched a movie.

Yesterday I had a waffle for breakfast, a turkey and provalone sandwich on wheat bread for lunch, and then pizza for dinner. I know, not the best, but I really didn't eat much of it.
Since we went out to do some returning on duplicate gifts and had to go to 4 different store, I had Steve park near the back of the parking lots. He didn't mind since it was a nice day and he didn't want anyone to "hurt" his new truck. So I got some extra walking in parking further away. It may not be much, but every little bit helps I'm thinking. So from now on I'm not going to look for the closest spot. I'm gunna walk the extra steps

Ok, I am really health concious. I have a regular work out routine, and I eat very well. The best thing I ever did for myself was stopped drinking pop, and started drinking lots of water, and I drink a lot of green tea. If you take gradual step, it will become second nature. If you try to become a health nut cold turkey with a diet or something you with fall off of it, because you will crave junk. If you like to work out, or walk, or just be active do that, and then take baby step with your eating habits. But definately the first things I would loose are pop, sugar in your coffee or tea, and candy. GOOD LUCK!!!:D

Well, I can fit in my wedding dress now, barely, but I can do it. So that's good. I am still walking as much as I can. Although I didn't get time to today. I've been doing pretty good with the diet too. I've been pretty steadily lossing about .5-1 pound a week.

I know a lot of you ladies in the group are pretty busy lately, with new jobs and wedding being so close. I was just wondering how everyone was doing. I know Angel has been busy so we haven't sent out an update lately. Is everyone able to stay motivated? I was doing really good for a while, but this last week I've been slipping. It's been really rainy here so I haven't been walking much and haven't felt like looking for good healthy foods...lol. What are you all up to? Anyone want to help me try to get back on track?

I am sorry that I have been so busy and am neglecting my responsibilities. I have been doing okay, but havn't lost anything else. It is kinda hard with the wedding being so close to stay focused and with all the stress I find myself eating more than I should. I just need to get back on track!!!

Im finding this diet easy to follow and stick to and havent felt deprived of anything but itlimits alcohol and the next 2 weekends we are probably going to be drinking. Next weekend we are away with friends and the following one we are having a bbq/party @ home, so fingers crossed i dont put back on too much!
Even though i had lots of reasons to be motivated i just couldnt seem to to get into it so eventually i had to go to a slimming club - its worked so far lol x

I'm glad your doing so well Girl! I have the problem being motivated too. I would love to join a gym, but right now I can't afford to. I have a feeling though, if I put money towards it I would work more towards it.
Good luck the next few weekend! I know I can't usually just have 1 drink.

I've decided i am going to give up drinking. I don't drink alot as it is. But i know there are alot of empty calories in it and with the health problems i would rather just get myself back to being healthy again before we start trying to conceive.
I've lost 4 pounds. I haven't been interested in eating much. I know its really not good for me. But in the morning i have no desire to eat. Lunch has been consiting of rice crackers with cheddar cheese slices, fruit like grapes or strawberries, and a bottle of water. My boss doesen't think i eat enough. But it's enough to carry me until i get home and can have dinner.
I have been struggling at night to not snack. If i do want a snack i've been having popcorn. But if there is icecream in the house.... i can't help myself. I finished it off the other night and don't plan on buying it again. It's too hard to say no. lol.

This article was written by Gail Young (co-founder of The Bridal Chalet) and is published in several prominent web publications including EzineArticles.com
Some of the questions we get asked all the time are:
How do I lose weight before my wedding day?
Can I lose enough weight to drop one or two dress sizes?
Would this particular gown look better on me if I lose some weight?
This article about how to lose weight before your wedding was written specifically to address these questions. We hope you find it valuable and we would be delighted to hear your feedback, success stories and comments.
Weight Loss for Brides - Drop at Least One Dress Size before Your Wedding
Your big day is fast approaching and you're terrified that you won't fit into that dream wedding gown you've bought. Follow this simple, yet proven approach for 3-4 weeks before your wedding day and drop at least one dress size.
The stress and anxiety that most brides experience as their wedding day approaches can be overwhelming for them. The amount of preparation involved and the countless number of details needing attention can make it very difficult to eat sensibly and maintain even a modest level of good nutrition. I can recall countless conversations with brides who are so stressed out in the month or so before their wedding that they abandon all good eating habits and either starve themselves or binge on junk food to handle the stress.
Many are genuinely terrified that they’ll be overweight and unattractive on their wedding day or even worse won’t be able to fit into their dream wedding gown.
I have been working with a personal trainer for the past 10 years who continually reminds me how just a few simple changes to your daily routine can make a huge difference. The four basic principles I outline below really do work. I’ve had personal success using these strategies and continue to follow them on a daily basis. Many of my clients who have requested my help and followed this advice have had remarkable results. Start this program at least 3-4 weeks before your wedding day and see for yourself.
1. Water, Water and more Water
Hydration is critical. While the benefits are countless this is one of the hardest things to implement into your daily routine. Whenever I would neglect this item my trainer would recite how water lowers body fat, flushes cellulite, improves digestion, gets rid of dark circles under the eyes, and makes you feel full. These are just a few of the benefits of drinking the required 2.5 litres of water per day.
This may seem like a lot but I found the easiest way to get into the habit is to break the amounts down into manageable amounts:
• Keep a bottle of water beside your bed. Before you go to sleep drink 1/2 the bottle and as soon as you wake up (before your feet touch the floor) drink the remaining 1/2 bottle
• Before each meal drink a half a bottle of water
• Carry water with you and sip it throughout the day
I can’t overemphasize how important this step is.
2. Go for a 10 minute Walk Every Day
Start with this...you can always increase later after it becomes routine. It’s enough to gently boost your metabolism and keep you active.
3. Eat Often but Only in Small Portions
Before I started this method of eating I would starve myself for a couple of days whenever I wanted to lose weight. It seemed logical to me at the time. When I started personal training I had to modify many of my bad eating habits. I had to start eating 6 meals a day. Don’t panic, it’s easier than it sounds. Every 3-4 hours from the time you wake up eat a little something. Your digestive system is far more efficient at handling a series of small meals than it is at tackling one large meal.
I usually eat at 7am, 10 am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm and 10 pm
Your meal portions (meat, veggies, carbs) should be no larger than the palm of your hand and no thicker than the palm of your hand.
4. Eat Healthy
I could spend days offering suggestions on meal variations but there are many excellent books that have been written to give you ideas. I will share my recommendations in another upcoming article.
So to make it simple a typical meal should be a protein, a carbohydrate and a vegetable or fruit.
Here is a sample daily meal plan that I eat to get you started:
Meal one: Protein shake with 1% milk (I like whey protein drinks such as IsoPro)
Meal two: 1/2 an apple and cottage cheese or yogurt
Meal three: Piece of chicken (no skin) and a small salad
Meal four: Cheese and the balance of the apple
Meal five: Piece of lean meat, rice or potatoes, vegetables
Meal six: Low fat chocolate pudding mixed with protein powder
5. The Best Part – Reward Yourself!
Choose one day a week as your reward day and eat whatever you want and as much as you want. Whether you like pasta, cookies, ice cream or my personal favorite chocolate.
Enjoy!
Don’t worry, you won’t gain fat if you do this because for the past six days your body has been used to eating what I term ‘clean’ food. On the seventh day your body thinks you are going to do the same and when you don't it gets fooled and eliminates the effects of the ‘junk’ food. In essence you are tricking your body that day but you must eat cleanly on the following day.
I have told many upcoming brides about this method of eating and almost all of them have emailed me back to let me know how thrilled they were at reaching their target goal of weight loss. I hope it works for you too.
As a final note of encouragement, my daughter used this method of eating and in 1 year she went from a size 18 to a size 2. This was four years ago and she has still maintained her weight to this day.
These simple techniques will not only help you quickly, safely and effectively lose at least one dress size but they will also help you feel more energetic, vibrant and healthy. Not to mention the positive effect it will have on your skin texture and overall appearance.
Stay on track and you’ll be amazed at your results. Eat well, drink plenty of water and as you progress, simply imagine your groom seeing you for the first time in your wedding gown and watching his jaw drop in speechless silence.

Oh I'm with ya on this one. Since the wedding, I'd say I gained at least 15 pounds....and man that was only 6 months ago. I didn't realize that I had gained so much weight and I got on the scale and I'm like "Man, what happened?" And now I'm having the darnedest time sticking on a diet and workout plan....I was on one and then got sick, and now I'm having a hard time getting back on it again....arg.

I thought maybe some of you might find this helpful. I use www.sparkpeople.com (http://www.sparkpeople.com) to help me lose weight. It's completely free and it lets you count all your calories, tells you how many calories, carbs, fat, and protein you should be getting everyday, and lets you track your exercise. It even gives you a timeline for how long it should take you to safely lose the amount of weight you want to. They also have tons of articles you can read and they give out points for various things... it's kind of a motivator! I've been using it since mid-march and I've lost 13 pounds so far. I've found that it's so much easier to lose weight when I can see exactly what I've been eating and how much I've been exercising. I sound a little bit like an informercial, but it really is a pretty helpful site! :)
